Brussel sprouts: partial spit (it's a mood thing).
Pumpkin: Yes, but not the Costco pie version. BLECH! It tastes so fake!

We have newbies???? OoooOOOooooo....

Blueberry anything is a swallow. Nut butters are sweet enough for me. Isn't that funny? I'm a peanut butter girl. My Mom didn't like peanuts so I never ate peanut butter anything until I was about 10 or 12 & realized that just b/c SHE didn't like something didn't mean I couldn't eat it. And we've been madly in love ever since.

Since Fall is allegedly coming...PUMPKIN...anything really...

Nut butters: Swallow.

I've had almond, peanut, and I think it was cashew or some other very whitish nut. Like you, Mo, I like sweets, so my nut butters need to have something to sweeten it a bit, like Stevia/Truvia or a bit of liquid sugar. I still have an unopened jar of almond butter that I've been meaning to sweeten with liquid Truvia, to see if I can get it to a taste level I like.

As with everything I'm more of a sweet girl...Gerkins & Bread & Butter are my faves.

I will eat a dill pickle, but it's not my go-to. I never crave them. And I am not putting peanut butter on them. Let's not talk about fried pickles either.

How about the various nut butters...does anyone have a favorite or any great ideas?

BS were always a spit b/c they were overcooked & tasted like MUSH.

I found someone who could cook them & now I consider them a swallow (in small doses).

PEEPS are totally a swallow. The more the better!!! Then watch out for my sugar crash! BAM!

Wasabi is also a swallow. I don't mix it in my soy sauce. I use it sparingly on my sushi.

Indian food...no thank you! I had a bad introduction & can't seem to get past it.

Apple Cider Vinegar is supposed to do so many cool things NATURALLY and supposed to be SO good for you. I should learn to swallow...but not as of yet.

I was HOOKED on this vidalia onion dressing at one point, but I think I overdid it b/c even the sound of it now makes me a little urpy.

Balsamic Vinegar? And has anyone made their own? Do you like the regular ones or do you prefer a flavor? All these ripe tomatoes just cry out for some fresh mozz & some balsamic. I can live without the basil...but I'm willing to let it be on the plate. :)

Peeps? (the sugar covered marshmallow chicks) I myself, dont care for them much, but I'm curious if they're a spit or swallow for anyone else?

Eggs -- add Benedict to the list, and I'll swallow them all. I love eggs. I could easily eat eggs for 2 of my 3 meals most days.

Mo, have you tried real meatloaf recipes? For years, I couldn't make meatloaf like Mom's. When I finally asked her about it, she said she always puts in some sort of carb to hold it all together -- sometimes it was crushed saltine crackers, sometimes it was leftover stale bread chopped small, and sometimes the almighty oats would make their appearance. My favourite is leftover bread, but I tend to have rolled oats more often than leftover bread. :-D Sometimes meatloaf is the only way I'll get any beef in that week.

I feel like such a noobie -- I have never had hard cider. I've had a lot of other spirits, but not that one. Luckily, moonshine isn't one of them either. :-P So it's a swallow to taste. Spit if it's gross, chug if it's good.

Swallow, but they have to be cool, not warm. And not a lot of them.

Celery root DOES taste like celery without the stringy texture. Like root veggies, peel the outside just enough to say it's peeled, then dice it up, drop it into some water or coconut milk or other flavoured water, boil till soft, and enjoy. I tried it raw, and it's actually a lot better than I was expecting. And I don't eat celery because of the texture.

Canned are hard for me to swallow. They feel kinda rubbery, but fresh is a definite swallow! I love them with pasta, or stuffed, but stir-fries or even just sauteed and eaten on their own is good!

Swallow spaghetti squash.

I have only had it with the spaghetti part in mind, so usually some righer-protein spag sauce & cheese is what I eat with it. If you would like instructions on how to cook spag squash, I found mine in the SparksRecipes section. :-D

JO...all that is is how we grew up before there was a microwave in any home. It's been many years since I went that route, but I would guess for a swallow!

Let's run thru the healthy for all the new girls & to remind ourselves of all the healthy stuff we LOVE!!! It's winter...so leafy green vegies...spinach, kale, collards, mustard greens, turnip greens! emoticon

Meat pies sound like a swallow...provided no-one sneaks any mushrooms into them! :)

Does anyone really LIKE the mashed cauliflower as a sub for mashed potatoes? Do you just like the taste or did you find a way to make them super yummy?

Oh there's one that is totally a SPIT for me. Hummus & of course now it's HIP & popular & you see it everywhere. ICK. No thank you! Not interested. Hummus is gross! LOL!

Yes JO...you have most of the Greek salad ingredients but you missed LETTUCE! LOL! (Am I being difficult today???) And the onions must be left off. Mo doesn't do raw onions! EEK!

I have no purpose for an egg without the yolk. It wouldn't be a spit...but unless we are making meringue, I don't see the point.

Artichokes...

Swallow, and if you add hummus to it, it's an inhale. :-)

Mo, Greek salad ingredients are generally made with pieces of tomatoes, sliced cucumbers, onion, feta cheese, and olives, typically seasoned with salt and oregano, and dressed with olive oil. I've also seen it with green and red bell peppers, cut about the same size as the onion, and it's pretty good.

Scrambled egg whites (either the stuff you find in the cartons or separated yourself)

Spit, because I don't drink coffee, and when I drink tea, it's usually with sweets, and then it's only a drop or 2 of milk and stir with sugared spoon.

I have it in my spice cabinet, but I never use it, so I dont know lol. I would swallow at least once.

Flavored creamers in your coffee? My current flavor is Pumpkin Spice. It's the sugar free reduced calorie one from coffee mate. I know that doesn't make it any healthier, but I love it!
