the second one looked healthier than the first. has spark changed things? used to be you could submit recipes but then they had to review them and do the nutrition stuff on them and then, MAYBE they would accept them. i submitted a bunch and only one was accepted...and all were really healthy and low in fat, sodium and cals.

If you go to SparkRecipes.com you can add this there too, if you haven't done so already. It's under the heading Healthy Lifestyle.

DIRECTIONS
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
In a large bowl, combine meat, tomato juice, oats, egg, chopped onion, salt and pepper. Mix lightly but thoroughly. Press into 8x4 inch loaf pan.
Bake for 1 hour, or until meat is no longer pink and juices run clear. Drain. Let stand 5 minutes before serving.

i hate onions so would leave them out. my meatloaf that i made up, has 2 pounds of 93% lean ground beef, then i just add oatmeal or, preferably, seasoned bread crumbs, milk, 2 eggs, ground sage, ground thyme, worcestershire sauce, and sometimes i throw in some rosemary. for special occasions i put some shredded cheese in the middle. i dont measure, just put stuff in till it "looks right"
its good with oatmeal too but i season it more and put in some parmesan for flavor.

Hope these help..if not go to www.allrecipes.com and there are a million meatloaf recipes!

Hello Sparkers,

I have a bunch of oatmeal to use up and am looking for the classic Seventh Day Adventist recipe (or any other) a friend of mine used years ago. I have looked at sparkrecipes and googled but can't find it. I do not care for lentils, tofu, veggie burgers, beans, etc in my meatloaf; instead I want oatmeal as the main ingredient. Of course I will add other ingredients and veggies. Just hoping one of you might have the recipe.

The oatmeal I have is Old Fashioned type, is in Tupperware not the round box, and I've looked on the Quaker website but their vegetarian recipe is made with Falafel mix instead of oatmeal. I'm looking for oatmeal as the main ingredient, with no meat or tofu added. I'm not vegetarian nor SDA; just want to use up my oatmeal and remember how delicious that recipe was.

Thanks alot,
Carol
