You are camping. That is a horse of a different color. How close is the nearest store? I had a stove and working fridge when the kids were little. The neighbor did not. He walked a mile every day in his 90s to pick up a pint of milk and what he planned to eat for the day. The man lived to 105. I think it was because he walked 2 miles everyday.

Peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and a box of apples were a staple for lunches. You are undoubtedly going through a gallon of milk a day.

One of my simple one hit wonders (that I would never cook now because I have gotten too health conscious) is campfire stew. It consisted of two cans of Campbells vegetable beef soup, a can of tomato soup and a pound of hamburger and whatever leftovers you were brave enough to add. Brown the hamburger, drain, add the soups w/o water and heat to nice rolling boil to blend the flavors. If too salty add cubed potatoes or water to dilute. Serve over buttered bread. The kids always thought it was a special treat because I told them camping stories or reminded them of fun camping trips.

It would help if I had some way of cooking the food...I've been using a microwave and electric skillet over the past 2 years for my sons and me but with this many, that doesn't work well plus the microwave quit yesterday...gonna have to come up with some money for a used stove I think. Money's extremely tight. Daughter has applied for food stamps and is llooking for a job but neither of those is happening right now. Mostyl we aren't eating...Also the fridge won't keep food. This was ok with just the 3 of us because i got small amounts and used them up in a day or two but now we can't keep food for 7 people. Ah well things will improve.

I must say that I accommodate the grandkids to a certain extent now, but when the kids were little, they were allowed to eat all the fruits and vegetables they wanted whenever they wanted, but they ate what I put on the table or ate the fruits and veggies or went hungry.

I fed them way too many potatoes, but it was a cheap way to expand the menu. Now, I would try more beans to round out the food or sweet potatoes.

Nowadays, I give the grandkids a couple choices, we discuss the menu and then everyone pitches in to make the meal. They all have been helping me cook in the kitchen since they were about five. It keeps them busy and eventually they became a really big help. The last two times they visited, I just turned everyone loose in the kitchen and watched TV. Since they cooked I cleaned up after them.

Hope you can get everything organized so it is more fun and less stress for you.

I'm feeling hopeless about this with all these ppl in my house!!! Daughter's kids are so loud and up very early. No time to exercise..everyone is hard to feed, very expensive plus a lot of different tastes. Stress is pretty high too. Plus stress of school and my son's graduation and imminent college....hopefully I can get my life straightened out soon.

Did well yesterday. Chewed a lot of gum. Did great today till 8pm and got into Hubby's goodies. I stopped after two and avoided the ice cream. So not too bad. Not perfect, but I was able to get it under control fairly quickly. Looking to go wheat free and sugar free tomorrow too.

Tomorrow is a do-over for both of us.

I'm going to have to FORCE myself to exercise today, I just don't want to. I didn't want to yesterday either. I wish I knew what THAT is about so I could fix it. Still, if I want to or not, gonna have to get my calorie burning time in....

I'm doing really good, taking good care of myself. I don't know how much I weigh at the moment, but I'll weigh towards the end of the month.

My daughter got her chickens. I think she got 8 lil' chicks...she lives in Utah and they are big on self-sufficiency there, almost every apartment, house, duplex or whatever has food growing. =)

You know those really work much in the same way SP does. It keeps all the goodness at the front of your brain. I miss both my relaxation tape and my hypnosis for weight loss tape. I wore both of them out.

I have used some of the you tube variations, but the bright light from the computer is too stimulating. I need eye shades or something.

Good luck.

Now with my new hypnosis CD plan, I am going to start a more aggressive exercise routine. I'm going to include some stuff I LIKE doing, like dancing and running. And some regular stuff that will help me be consistent like taking a walk everyday and strength training 3 times a week.

I'm glad you're getting all set for your chickens! I can't wait till I have some too!

I am still on the fence about the tickers. I've decided not to adjust mine since it's only another 2 lbs that I need to lose, for it to be right again. But from here on I WILL adjust. Because the way I see it, it's like saving those "skinny" jeans or posting a photo from 20 years ago. It's just not where I am now and I don't think that's going to help me have a healthier lifestyle.

I never change my ticker. It helps me fight that much harder to get back to it.

I bounce around in a 5-7 pound range. But I am determined to not get into the 200's ever again, so have been more careful.

Time to do some exercises again. Maybe I will haul an old table up to the chicken coop. Then I can set nesting boxes on it. It doesn't have any lead paint, so might work quite well. I read that 5 gallon buckets make good nesting boxes. I can set them on the table and wire them to the chain link on the kennel.

Yeah, I am heading in the right direction too. But its so ANNOYING to me that I let myself gain back lbs I had worked so hard to lose. I went from 215 down to 190, then back up to 215!! My ticker says 208 but I'm still on my way back down to that, right now I'm at 210 I think...I might just update the ticker and live real....=)

eating healthy today and down a pound again. Not back to the 195 yet, but at least I am not sitting at the upper edge of 199 now. What a relief.

Had oatmeal, yogurt, green tea, and veggie rainbow soup. Plan to eat smelt, sweet potatoes, cottage cheese and broccoli for dinner.

Feels so much better to be eating healthy again.

The doc had me on 50,000 IUs of D. I am down to 1000 IUs now. Also take a multi vitamin some days and on other days I take B12 with 3000mgs of C with Coral Calcium and magnesium. I also take an extra D on those days.

Thanks for the reminder. Since I am upstairs I took the multi-vitamin.

I just remembered some great Spark advice early on. When cutting back on food intake should take a cheap over the counter vitamin pill to make up for lost calories. You all probably already know-do this.
Been increasing my work load [exercise] this week, trying to get in shape for all the hard work acommin!

Stopped at the feed store today to get sheep food and asked about the Chick's. He said they were going to be late this year. Looked like around May 1st. Actually, I am thankful for that. It will get me more time to get the coop ready for them.

I got the sugar under control again, now I need to work on quantity.

Rainbow soup, now there's an idea. I could make up some veggie soup for these hollow days. Until I get used to eating less....I managed to stay within my range today (barely) and get my walk in. But pretty hungry all day...

I have a 3 day streak now of walking--got it out of the way early today so I couldn't make excuses later. Also I've planned my food, including a bedtime snack, so that I won't go over on calories. I had gained back up to 215 lbs which just makes me sad but I've already lost 3 lbs of it, back down to 212. I'm not gonna weigh any more for awhile though, hopefully next time I'll get another happy surprise.

emoticon Here's to staying healthy! I can only think out three days at a time. I need to make the green tea more of a habit. I am doing pretty well not eating refined sugar and wheat. Processed food is beginning to taste like cardboard. I just need to make sure to take my vitamins, drink water and drink green tea.

So my plan is to drink a cup of green tea every morning till Tuesday.

I can be the bossy Gma even if I am younger than you. So Skeeter, You really just need to get out of the house. I know you have a wonderful wife and want to be around her all the time, but you need to stay healthy for all those wonderful Gkids and next generation too.

Was that enough riding????

I had to stop somewhere to get food today, so stopped at Taco Bell and got a nacho supreme. It fell in my guidelines and was only 440 calories, but it tasted like seasoned cardboard. All the fresh food cooking has refined my taste buds. I couldn't wait to get home and rustle up an omelet tonight. Down another 3 pounds. That makes 50 pounds total.

Sugar and wheat free sure helps kick the cravings for me anyway.

Keep track of calories everyday and stay under 1900, and increase my exercise to 30 minutes 6 days a week.

Today is my day 1, April 1st.

Today and everyday this week, I have to:
1) stay between 1400 and 1600 calories and
2) walk (at least 10 minutes but I'm aiming for 60)

See ya Saturday, to hear about your progress and tell you about mine!

I have been going refined sugar and wheat free every three days. On the third day I re-assess and decide if I want a treat or to continue on. The only sugar or wheat I have had was at a grange dinner on St. Patrick's day. I would like to continue this after Lent is over.

I'll begin tomorrow, April 1st, and my goal will be to get in a walk every day of the 7 days, and stay within my calorie range the same days. Do we check in once a week, Saturday, or do we check in daily, or what?

I think this a great idea to renew this Skinney Saturday Challenge. We can set a goal for ourself for the week and commit to the team you WILL be accountable for it. Weather it be lose X lbs., maintain or do X amount of exercise or whatever, just do it!

Count me in for Skinny Sat:
I'd like to see at least a pound gone by next Sat.

Don't be content with average. Average is as close to the bottom as it is to the top.
