I wonder how we'll do over the Christmas and New Year celebration...I'm having bad moments already but have been able to pull it back to have good weigh ins each week. Maybe knowing what works is a good answer for me/us!!

There was so many times during this past year struggling with the extra pounds that I almost gave in and said "I'm fine where I am" weight wise but knowing I wasn't fine with it at all. I'm so glad I kept at it. emoticon

I looked back to around this time last year and I was struggling with 16lbs!!! (horror)

I do wonder how my eating will pan out...I so easily want to slope off and eat goodies! emoticon but on the other hand I don't want the pounds back!! I have to stay strong!! emoticon

That's great you are still going and encouraging you friend. It helps when we have support.

I'm at 126 and extremely happy. It seems like as soon as I got passed the 129 mark, the weight just disappeared, and not to ever come back, lol. December shouldn't be to difficult for me, at the very least, I'd like to maintain but I still want to get back to 125.

It's funny, but maintenance is the easiest part for me. Losing is sooooo hard, even at only 5 or 6 pounds! I'll never let that happen again. I remember before, I wouldn't let myself get above 128, now I understand the reason why I wouldn't. emoticon

I made my target weight at Slimming World of 145lbs in mid October. I know I weigh 142.5 on my home scale but am still going by the SW weigh in.
I can now go as often to class as I like and not pay to attend...I like that idea!! I'm still going every week as I want to continue to weigh in but also to help encourage my friend...we were both at school together (aged 11yrs old) and happened to start the same day. She has lost the same amount of weight as me but still has a good few pounds to go...

I know maintaining is the hardest part because I've been there a few times and I really hope I don't go off the rails again!!!

Thanks Ronda I've struggled for a long time to try and get this weight thing moving downwards again...according to my scale at home I only have less than 3lbs to go but the SW scale and clothes are different of course and that's the one I'm using for my ticker...

Maybe with less travelling you will make some headway too. I don't think +5 is a huge amount added to what was your constant 125lbs.

That's awesome Janet!! You are so close to your goal. emoticon I lost my original goal somewhere, lol, and weight wise, I'm still hanging in at 130. With all the traveling we've done this past summer, I'm very pleased I've maintained but still would like to see that back down some.

Yes, I already put out my Autumn decorations and changed my Oreo picture to the pumpkins. I'm looking forward to the season change & cooler weather. emoticon emoticon

Me back again...
I'm so amazed at how Slimming World programme is working for me...I'm eating what feels like small portions but I can live with that to give me the weight loss. Today I actually saw 140s on the scale!! I'm excited...SW predict that I shall reach target by mid October; 5 weeks.
Well...all I can say is...it's been a long time coming and will be so welcome.
I feel so good in my clothes and the new things I've bought since returning to the UK are going to need some work on my sewing machine!! lol

Good that you've found what works for you Ronda. Unfortunately I need so few calories or the weight doesn't shift off. I think it's probably to do with my underactive thyroid. Never mind, I can make sacrifices to get back to goal again. Thankfully I seem to be doing well sticking to plan and my portion sizes.

I know, I'm the same way. I hear something and think maybe that's what I should be doing or not doing.....I've actually found the only thing that really works for me is staying right around 1400/1500 calories, regardless of anything else, my calories in have to stay consistent. But while on vacation & hiking, my calorie intake is higher but I'm burning so much it doesn't matter.

Oh dear...I cringe when I read how much I keep changing my mind about what I'm doing!! lol.
The dairy stuff is out now, it caught up with me and made my eyes so sore. At Slimming World class I was told I wasn't losing much because I wasn't eating sufficient, so I ate more...gained 3.5lbs! Boy was I mad...now doing what suits me best and absolutely determined to get this weight off!!

I always eat low fat or fat free dairy, I think it makes me feel better. I eat a wide variety of all kinds of food, including meat, but not the processed stuff like hot dogs.

The surgeon said those tears do not heal on their own...but have to say I believe there is one that can make that possible!! It feels very good now with no pain etc.
The Paleo diet was hard for me because of all the meat, which I don't eat. He doesn't allow beans or soya and that's a big part of my eating plan. I've actually found that if I eat low fat ad 0% fat dairy I can tolerate it...been many years since I was able to do that.

Brisk walking is good too. Some days that's all we get in. With an Oblique tear, can it mend itself? I'd opt with you and not have the surgery especially if I felt it was doing fine.

I looked up the Paleo diet and I couldn't do that one, I love my dairy & cheese too much!!

Hi Ronda...yes time has flown past since we posted here...
Well Paleo came and went, as did the Fast Diet...all wonderful and I had a go but somehow not enough to hold my interest! So two weeks ago I joined Slimming World and now attend a local group in my town. That is working for me...was up 1/2lb the first weigh in, but yesterday was down 4lbs...so am hopeful, I need real accountability.
Glad you're now back on track, I know that when we lose a close family member all this seems unimportant.

The MRI result showed an Oblique tear...saw the consultant who wanted to do a keyhole surgery repair...I declined because I feel it's doing very well and not troubling me now. However I doubt I shall do any real exercise except brisk walking.

Hi Janet,
where had the time gone? No significant weight loss for me either, still have a few more but I can deal with that. Never heard of the Paleo way of eating. I'll have to look that up.
I've downloaded Kindle on my computer & iPod. The books I purchase shows up on all the devices. It's nice, especially when traveling.
After Mike's mom passed away I think we both went into a spiral. Neither of us got much work done and now it's been catch up. I'm finally back to where I was with a little bit of breathing room emoticon

Well the birthday is in sight and I haven't made any real progress. I seem so weak where food is concerned these days...but...a week ago I got interested in Paleo way of eating. I've read about it before but that's as far as it went. I've downloaded Kindle onto my laptop and have been getting some of the books to help me. So far...doing good!!

Hi Ronda...yes had the MRI last week and will get the results on Tuesday. The knee is pretty good now but I haven't done any exercising, except walking until I find out the results.
I'm on day 9 of absolutely no wheat or other grains and feel so much better...can't think why I have times of deviation!!!

Your weather sounds as if it's really warming up now. We still have snow flurries this w/e and so cold with it.

Well, we're heading towards April already...3 weeks to my birthday, hence the impetus to shift the weight!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry to hear your back on those meds. Have you had the MRI on your knee yet?

I started eating more breads & pastas so I'm thinking that's where my weight gain has come from. I need to get that under control, cut out those useless carbs.

I ended up getting my plants a few days ago and I sure am glad I waited. We had another cold snap last week that I wasn't home for emoticon and now we're in the 90's! The evenings are beautiful on these warmer days.

Still keeping caught up, hey, maybe that's why I've gained the weight????? Maybe I should get behind on work again?! emoticon

Ronda, the meds could have been the cause but like it or not, I'm back on them again. On Tuesday I had a cortisone injection in my knee and told to take the meds again. Evidently there was no fluid in the knee so must be just swelling. Anyway am waiting for an appointment for the MRI scan so will know more then.
Yes the tracking on the other website is good but I've been a little lapse lately so probably why the weight loss stopped too. Need to get back to that but my eating is mostly good at the moment. I found I was sneaking 'wheat' stuff in and it's a killer for the joints of my fingers etc so that is out again now...why don't I learn?

Yes those celebration times are special and why not!! Glad your hips are improving, it all takes time and I know I'm not good at that either. My....you're buying young plants already...it must be mild where you live. I just looked at the 10day forecast and now we're at 1st March, looks like the temps are going to be going up!! That has to be good...

Janet, do you think that maybe the anti-inflamatories could have caused a little bloat/swelling? I know certain med's like steriods cause swelling. Hoping your knee gets better soon.
How's the food tracking going on the other site you found? I can see it would be difficult having different measurements and foods.

I try to stay on track too, but last week was a tough one. With our anniversary and then Valentines day, it was just a bad week. I guess we all need to have one of those once in a while but the scale sure showed me, lol.

My hips are still a little sore but slowly getting better. We had a beautiful warm weekend. I finally weeded my garden and got it ready for when I go to the nursery and pick up my tomatoes & peppers! Normally after I work in the garden, my lower back & hips get so tired but this time, I wore my SI belt for my hips and it worked great emoticon
Now waiting for another storm to blow in tomorrow, a cold one too, hopefully we'll get a lot of rain with this one, fingers crossed!!

Well done Ronda for getting caught up so far. I'm sure folk will start giving you more work again soon...!!

I'm doing my best to stay on track, sometimes not so good though. I do wonder if my sudden drop in lbs is the result of stopping the anti-inflams...the swelling in my ankle disappeared too...just wish the knee would as well.

Got the reports out that needed to be out. A little late but still ok as far as not getting in trouble. Now to finish up some bookkeeping for last year, which should be done today or tomorrow at the lastest and I'm pretty much caught up!! emoticon

Tax season has been slow so far this year which has helped me get caught up. It's the IRS, not me or my clients. The IRS didn't accept tax returns until the 30th so nobody's been in any hurry. Next month will be a busy month, I'm sure!

Thanks for asking Ronda....it is in fact a cartilage problem...have to have some physio sessions. So hope that helps....I really don't know anything about joint problems. Just the swelling soon subsides.

Hope you get that work finished and mailed off...hate that rushed feeling but I know it happens. You sound as if are really getting set up to safe guard yourself against any future injuries.

As you said...today is 1st Feb...I'm really geared up to go on all guns now...could possibly count the weeks until my birthday and I MUST see some progress!! emoticon

Janet, what did they say about your knee? A few years back while hiking I twisted a knee and on the way back to the truck, I was babying that knee and ended up straining my other knee. That was not fun so I carry a knee brace with me know.

Tomorrow is February 1 and I'm so far behind!! emoticon I still have year end reports to get out for three of my companies that were suppose to be out today! Fingers crossed I can have them in the mail by Saturday.

On a good note, I've been able to walk and exercise this week emoticon I ordered an SI belt for my hips to help keep them stablized while bending & twisting, that won't be in until next week so in the meantime I'm being very careful emoticon

I'm still pushing emoticon

Well, so far my goal for this year isn't doing too good, yet. I had a cold the first part of January and as soon as I was better, I tweeked my hips and been doing a lot of resting. So needless to say, I'm behind on work and catching up again, lol. Now that my hips are almost back to normal, I should be caught back up next week and that's where I am going to stay!! emoticon

With the weight thing, I've seen myself get lazy and quite paying attention to my food intake which, of course, means weight gain. I'm still not quite back to where I want to be but I'm ok where I'm at and I do have to focus more.

Like you Janet, I'm injured right now. I was moving furniture around Saturday and threw out my hips again (SI joint). I can hardly walk.

Mary...I know what a hard slog it feels and especially as the years go by so fast.... all we can do is keep on keeping on!

Leelynn...that sounds like a master project...there must be nothing like rearing and consuming your own animals etc. Keep your eye on that list!!

I'm nursing a pulled ligament in the side of my knee so not doing too well at the moment...Excuses, excuses!!!

Janet...Goals for 2013? The usual for me...stick to my eating plan, exercise more and get back to losing this weight. Sounding like a broken record every January, but what can I say?
I am sort of back to Square One with my weight, as you can see from my tracker.

So time to quit procrastinating and get serious again, I guess. I'll agree with you...we can do it.

oooh... this is an easy topic my goal is to be eating my own produce and chickens grown on my own farm... perhaps my own goat milk and pork as well.

In order to do that I need to keep my focus and put one foot in front of the other... without procrastinating. I am a woman with a list.

I used to be like that Ronda when I was younger and worked for a living....

I need to get my mindset right for getting this weight issue under control again. I do good and then somehow I lose it again...wonder why?

Start managing my time better! I always seem to be "catching up". We eat good and exercise at least 5 days a week but I never seem to have enough time and I know why. I don't pay enough attention to the tasks I need to do today, I put off until tomorrow and then pretty soon, tomorrow becomes next week!

RHEYN, good to hear from you on the team...
Yes fresh produce needs to be bought little and often... My husband eats a little animal protein but not me. I so enjoy my vegetarian dishes that are made by inspiration!
