Hey Pam.. I am new at this also and very glad I have found SP Good luck with everything hopefully things will start moving (the scale!)I started my diet about a week ago and I have been eating white meat fruits veggies and no fast food and not cokes and doing at least 15 miles on a stationary bike a day!!! I haven't yet tried to weigh myself I will go in for a weigh in next Thursday so we will see! Again Good Luck with everything!
I didnt think about joining an IBS group, thanx for the tip!
The fiber that i take has calcium added, i dont drink milk anymore but do take soy milk with my cereal. And i eat spinach often.
I was making protien smoothies for breakfast last week with added organic plain yogurt and organic kefir. i do cleanses and detoxes regularly so i pay a lot of attention to the good bacteria i intake to make sure i am replenishing what i am flushing out.
thanx for the response! :)
I hope your IBS gets better with a good diet and exercise and losing weight :-) I know my digestive complaints are down, but I still got a bad attack of something early this month--I could not sleep :-/ There are sparkteams for IBS sufferers and you should find one or two to join, because together your experiences will help each other greatly!
Can you try to get in 3 servings of dairy a day though? Lactaid is everywhere and yogurt shouldn't cause the regular digestive upset either (the lactose is used up by the yogurt culture) There is research that says that people who do that lose weight easier, and the theory is that the body hordes calcium in fat cells if it isn't getting a good supply. Three servings of milk isn't 100% of the US RDA either, so we have to get the rest from other sources--leafy greens, meats/stock/soup.
Great idea diluting juice. Eating the fruit instead gives us the fiber too.
Hugs -- Edith Started at 220, made goal 160 now I have to get there again :-)
Keep Dancing. Joy is the best exercise.
i have a 16 oz. water bottle i carry with me everywhere. i got through it at least 3-4 times a day. plus i dont drink anything but water and green or white tea. no soda, juice sometimes but always organic and i usually will dilute it with water, no milk.
i am not eating more. i know that. I am eating a lot more veggies than normal, more whole grains.
i have to pay close attention to my bm's because i have IBS. With the diet i am on now, the amount of water i drink, my activity, and the extra fiber i intake, i sometimes will go 3-4 times a day. So, i think i am covered there :)
thanx for the response
Your very welcome!
And thank you! It takes time, I've been here almost 7 months now, but I'm doing it! I am looking forward to breaking 260 because I haven't been below that since I hit my 20's. I am so close now!
Sparks really DOES work! :D

Thanx so much for your kind words!
I look forward to the day when i can say i have lost 45 pounds!! WOW! What a great accomplishment! Congrats!
as you started exe. your body's needs changed.
for example: you loose mor liquid - do you make sure you drink more? enough? - if you don't, your body retains water to make up...
slowly your muscles get stronger and heavier - the lost of fat will follow.
the one thing you need to pay attention to and track is your appetite - did it get bigger with your training? - It could be that you eat good but more.
Is there any change in your bowel movement?
Have a lovely day,
Welcome to Sparks Pam!
I know it's frustrating when the scale doesn't move. But just keep doing what your doing and the weight will drop. It can be very stubborn at times!!!
This is a great place for encouragement. :) Feel free to ask any questions you may have!

Hello. My name is Pam, i am 25 and live in the Pacific Northwest.
My profile pretty much explains my goals. i just wanted to say HI. I am really excited to have found SparkPeople and cant wait for the dicoveries and am excited to maybe make some friends.
I am at a point right now where i have been working out consistantly for three weeks and eating VERY healthy but i havent seen any results yet. No pounds or inches lost. I am a bit frustruated and discouraged. I havent stopped anything, i have actually stepped up my routine a bit. I just need some more encouragement to keep me on track.
