Mastodon has been getting a lot of plays lately, along with Opeth. Any of the great 80s Thrash bands work great too.

I'm new to the group, but I'm an old metal head from the 80's -90's era. I do get mix it up with some across the pond metal bands from today when I work out which git's me into a serious work out.

One of my favorite songs to work out to is Destroy Everything by Hatebreed. It keeps me going on the treadmill when I'm ready to slow down because I like to keep up the the beat of the music.

Lamb of God, Slipknot, Static-X, System of a Down, Orgy Disturbed (their earlier stuff), some SYL (but the beat is a bit too erratic to work out too).
I also love the Resident Evil 2 soundtrack as well as the Freddy vs. Jason soundtrack.

If I were you I would definitely not miss the Mayhem fest!!!! IT WAS AWESOME...go check out Walls of Jericho chick singer, they totally rocked it. And a little advise if you can't afford to go to shows, go online or check out a local paper, go support some local bands. It costs way less (usually 5 or 6 bucks) and after the show is done you can hang out with the band members without a backstage pass. Some of my favorite bands right now are Denver local. Plus if they make it big, and you get in good with them, then you won't have to pay to see them, cuz you'll be on the list :)

Ozzfest last year was the BEST!! Me and my two best friends in the world went together!! I had made outfits for everyone and we were like a kiss of vampires walking thru the crowd!! People took our pic and my one friend who loves the ladies got some very admiring comments from two very beautiful women!! And the bands!! Flyleaf, Evanesence!! Those women are so strong and just know what we all go thru!At one point I said (no S**T)Lord I could die right now I am so friggin'happy! I am where I belong! And KoRn!!!!Jonathan is my fantasy come true he is so magical and so HOT!! AW! A man in dreads and a kilt all tatted up!!! It was the best!! I saw Slayer with Slipknot two summers ago. So good! Slipknot waited until the 2nd oncore to do "People= S**T" my fav!!! I dont like Stone sour(too whiny) but Slipknot I love!! Sorry to ramble-this is a public post.....sorry

Mayhem Fest! I really want to go, but I don't think It's going to happen. I'm sorry to hear about your health issues, hope you're doing ok. It sucks about Ozzfest only being one show this year. I went last year and it was AWESOME! Then the next night I went to see the Slayer/Marilyn Manson show and that unbelievable. That was my first time seeing Slayer in concert, what a RUSH!!!

I know.Between gas at 4.25 a gallon and my rent going up $100, its been a sucky year for me too. I also have health issues and I go to an ND instead of a regular dr, so I have to pay for all of it out of pocket. I usually go to 8 to 10 shows a year. I havent gone to one yet!! Wanted to go to Ozzfest with my friend who lives in Tx but shes going to be out of town then. Missed Type O Negative): no bux. Am going to the Slipknot show in August no matter WHAT!! I'll just be eating brown rice for weeks!! I dont CARE!!!!

I walk and run on the dirt roads in our rural neighborhood, but we live in the middle of the forest. I wait until after dawn to go out and try not to get out too late, but I have to avoid the heat. I always have my nordic walking poles with me and since I almost never wear brown, that's not a problem. LOL. Don't own anything leather. I usually wear bright colors because of the idiot hunters around. I already have one bullet hole in my house.
I wouldn't risk my dogs, which is why I have to watch the time of day so carefully. I have collies and a corgi. Not pitting them against a wild animal.
I live 30 miles from the nearest gym, so it's not an option for me since I have to do cardio every day for health reasons.

Stay off the deer trails, especially at dawn and dusk. Don't wear leather or deer brown garments. Make plenty of noise. Carry a sturdy walking stick. All of these should help keep you safe. I also recommend having a good dog to accompany you. My favorite is a Plotthound, bred to hunt bear and wild boar. My first one actually drove off a couple of mountain lions when we lived in the Sierra Nevada's.
I listen to whatever is playing at the gym as I've been too busy to make a song list for exercising yet.

Hatebreed, its fast and its empowering. Also pretty much anything else with fast double bass...helps me keep my feet moving.
