DARKFAERY - I hear what your saying. I grew up listening to Johnny Cash, Merle Haggard, Charlie Pride, old 50's stuff - so my musical tastes run the gambit but I definitely favor the metal. Heck, I even had Katie Perry's Kissed a Girl on my myspace profile page at one time. Catchy pop tune. As long as its not hip hop or rap I can pretty much tolerate it.

A friend of mine turned me on to a cd last year by a band called Pimpadelic. They had their hay day back in the 90s with a cd called Southern Devils. It combines rap with really heavy guitar riffs and its actually pretty good. The lyrics are really raunchy though.

Okay, I think I can top you guys. I have ABBA's Greatest Hits in my cd collection. And it wasn't a gift - I actually bought it. The worst part is that arranged alphabetically, its the very first cd on the rack right before all my AC/DC cd's.

You know, even though my preference is metal, I actually listen to all kinds of music. I was listening to Roxette this morning. Ok, so reading this, I figure I'm a dork!

I fell in love with it when I heard it on one of my friend's myspace page.

I listen to lots of different types of music but it's all mostly rock. I absolutely do not like country music and I'm really not into hip hop or r&b but I like some old school rap. It really just depends on the mood I'm in or what song I want to hear. But I actually 311 is pretty good, haha. I like that rock/reggae/rap style sometimes.

I actually don't care for Eminem that much...

Beastie Boys and Cypress Hill are good, they bring me back.

I'll admit, most of the "rap" that I like is by female rappers like Lil' Kim, Missy Elliott, Queen Latifah, Lauren Hill (Fugees), and Lisa Lopes (TLC).

I owned certain "ground-breaking" albums like Snoop Dogg's "Doggy Style" or Dr Dre's "The Chronic"... and "fusion" albums like Outkast's "Speakerboxxx/The Love Below"

Besides Eminem and the Beastie Boys there are really no rappers/rap groups where I enjoy more than a song or two.

Yea, same here. Some remind me of my childhood, like Madonna. Other than that, I don't even listen to those genres much. Most people my age (at least around here) do listen to that stuff and I'm always out of the loop. Don't mind it much though.

Same, pretty much exactly. Johnny Cash, David Allen Coe, and Charlie Daniels Band.

Ones I can't really take are pop, rap, R&B, and such. A few songs catch my ear, but not many.

Yea, I really don't like country that much. There are some songs I can tolerate, and I love classics like Johnny Cash or Patsy Cline, but most of the stuff that followed doesn't really wow me.

You can't appreciate music and ONLY like metal... I used to jam to 311 back when they came out, haha. Metalheads/rockers are interesting creatures in that way... they usually have more ecclectic tastes!

I love meatl more than any other musical genre, but I listen to almost everything. From funk to Japanese pop music! Today I listened to Janet Jackson, Chante Moore, Amerie, Odyssey, Mandrill, Central Line, Sandy Lam, & Lisa Stansfield just to name a few non-metal artists! BTW, I have liked 311 since my freshman year of high school.

It's all good ... everyone has some quilty pleasure bands. I listen to all music any, just most of it happens to involve screaming, yelling, and copious amounts of distorted guitars. However, one of my "chill" bands is Portishead. A friend of mine got me into them back in like 8th grade and I have them in my cd case and/or mp3 player at all times.

Oh, me too! My musical tastes broadened as I got older. I listen to anything from classical to techno. I LOVE DMB (just went to my 2nd concert of theirs last August) and I have Coldplay's first 2 albums.
Ahhhhh, I feel as though a weight has been lifted off my chest. LOL
