It is by far the best app that i have found (I've tried at least 5 others and they all sucked!) The best part about it is, you don't need cell service for it to work, and you can use it for tons of other activities as well.
I use an app on my android called AllSport GPS (free if you are interested) that gives me my average pace. I then chose the closest jogging interval out of the list, enter how long I was doing C25K, and I'm done.
Yep, I use a HRM as well - and since I bike to the gym I include the calories biking to and from into the total.
Livestrong.com also has a fitness tracker that gives you calories burned for specific activities - not for Couch to 5K, though but I usually use the jogging or running activity at the lowest speed listed (ex: 10-11 mph, or less).
Not sure what Sparkpeople has because I use Livestrong.
I wear my heart rate monitor and track it by time and calories burned.
