I love this! Thank you so much, it must have taken ages.

I am surprised at how few calories are burned especially at the beginning when it feels like such hard work. But I guess it is more about overall fitness than burning calories.

Wow, thanks, this looks great! I've been considering getting a HRM, but this looks like a good substitute for tracking calorie burn in the mean time.

I just clicked on the link in the very bottom post. My browser took me to the download site. Then, I clicked on "Regular Download". After that, I clicked on "Click here to download from sendspace". A window automatically popped asking if I wanted to save it. You may need to un-disable pop-ups.

I'm so glad you like it!

I added a bit to the bottom of it yesterday. A section at the bottom now can be used to calculate your distance (from minutes run or walked at a given pace). Then you can plug that number in to the "custom" section if you're not following the C25K plan as written, but still want to know your calories burned for a given distance of walking + a given distance of running.

I actually rather stink at Excel, but once I got rolling, it was kind of fun!

I've created a rough prototype of a calories burned spreadsheet for each segment of Cool Running's C25K training program. Weight and distances are customizable. Calories burned (net, gross, and total) change based on your weight, distance run, and distance walked).

The distances on the sheet as downloaded correspond directly to the C25K plan. You can change them if you want, but if you're doing the program straight up you should probably leave them as they are. If you're doing the program as written, all you need to do is enter your weight in cell A3 to see the calories burned for each segment.

It is important to ENTER YOUR OWN WEIGHT in cell A3, or the sheet won't properly calculate your cals burned .

The calculations are based on "Energy Expenditure of Walking and Running," Medicine & Science in Sport & Exercise, Cameron et al, Dec. 2004 (see: http://www.runnersworld.com/article/0,7120

Essentially, you enter your weight in cell A3, and the spreadsheet will crank out net and gross cals burned walking, running, and total for each of the CoolRunning C25K segments.
