Glad to know that your going to see a doctor Steph, please keep us posted.
And Skatergirl - I had read that those tone-up shoes don't really do what they're supposed to, but I didn't know that they can actually hurt you. Yikes!

That's good. Your doing the right thing. Could be tendonitis you never know. If it is that can heal up good with a couple weeks off of cardio and ice.
Nurses have it hard their on their feet all shift.

I will say this ... if anyone wears those tone up sneakers they have out there now and wear them all day can really end up doing damage to their feet. I see a foot doctor a lot for my feet for something and he said wearing flip flops and those silly tone up sneakers will mess you up.
Just wanted to get that out there. I guess their no good for your hips either.

Hope you feel better real soon !!

Thank you all for the advice. I do have an appointment on Monday. I am not sure it is shin splints anymore. They were hurting when I was working in the hospital last night. It was really busy and I don't remember sitting down. LOL. With that being said everytime I got on the ball of my foot only my right shin would hurt. If I put pressure with my hand it seemed to hurt more. I think I am going to take it easy and do the weights until after monday.

I agree. Salty your right. And getting your vitamin D in. Iron, B vitamins.
I will say also you can have your tendions checked aswell. Sometimes It can be tendionitis and you might think it's the shins.
I had it real bad awhile back. Took two weeks off and took plenty of advil and that helped me big time. Have to read your body and have a doctor check them out incase.
Drinking plenty of water helps too forgot to say that.

And for motivation you can make up a vision board hang it up in a special room where you workout so you see it. I did that it's near my treadmill.

Another idea is to find a friend or co worker that wants to go in on a challenge with you to lose weight and that will push you to keep going so you win lol.

I was thinking of ideas in the car on the way home from skating.

I hope you feel better Stephanie!!!!

I've cut back a bit on my running. I run outside and the heat and humidity can really zap energy. My legs are feeling tired and I know it's because of the heat. I agree in that often when you feel tired your body is telling you to take it down a notch and back off.
I like Skatergirl's suggestion about cutting back on cardio and doing weights. Some times just changing up the mix is just what your body needs.
With your shins hurting you really need to be extra careful. If they continue to bother you, you might want to see a doctor just to play it safe and be sure of what the ailment is.
Also, are you getting enough potassium? I've read that most Americans don't get the recommended amount of potassium; a lack of potassium can make you feel tired and sluggish. Keep us posted on how you feel, and feel free to rant, complain or whine - we're here for you!

I'm not slacking i'm still kicking my own butt here. If you need help I will go to your page and send you some butt kicking Steph.

If you want to you can go on youtube and look up stretches for shin's to prevent shin splints.
There is some good exercises that can help you with that issue. I use to get them alot back in the days of running they hurt really bad. I'm sorry your going through this.
Ice them, stretch them , look up those stretches for them. Maybe you need new sneakers??
Sometimes when they wear down they can create issues in our bodies. Not sure how old your sneakers are.
Maybe you might want to try out a new exersice to get your exercise mojo going?

When it was so hot around here I took breaks and rested it was too hot to workout.

I keep going and motivated by looking at old pictures of myself from when I was very heavy it reminds me to not give up and then I tell myself ya look how far you have come and all the smaller clothes your wearing now. Keep going girl and don't lose what you gained... this is me talking to myself. I refused to gain and feel sick and tired as I use to.
Just keep going Stephanie . If your shins hurt bad don't do cardio just do weights for now take a few days off or go swimming maybe swimming and the cold water will help.

Hope you find your mojo back let me know if you need a butt kicking!
I'm off to go get ready for another skating lesson . Might go for another walk tonight too afterwards. I'm working on losing 10 lbs . I really have 20 but i'm breaking it up 10 at a time and hoping by Christmas i'll have it off.

We can do its. Let's get off our butts !!

First off ... sometimes rest is important and just what we need so if you are super tired, it may be exactly what your body needs.

However, if that's not the case, what works for me is a sign I have next to our treadmill and weight set. First, I have many memorable quotes hanging there, but the biggest one (printed out HUGE) makes me laugh and makes me dig in. It reads (ready for this?) Suck It Up, Cupcake! LOL! But it's true ... I once read a post of someone comparing exercise to like brushing your teeth. No one (that I know, anyway!) jumps up and night and rushes off to the bathroom yelling, "I get to brush my teeth! Woohoo!" Nope, you brush your teeth because it's the right thing to do. Exercise is the same way.

So ... and I mean this in the most loving way possible! emoticon Suck it up, Cupcake and get back into that routine! You know how great it makes you feel ... it makes you feel strong, capable, and awesome!! And you are doing something so good for yourself!

Now get out there and bust out that routine ... and take some ice for the shins! emoticon

Are you slacking from your normal exercise routine?? When you notice that you are, what do you do to get back into the habit again.

I have noticed that I have been slacking the last two days. I have been really tired lately. Also I thought that I would give my body some rest because my shins have been hurting. I thought it was shin splints but they have been hurting quite a lot and I was afraid that it was more than soreness. They still hurt a little, but I have taken what seems to be such a long break, I am not motivated anymore.

HELP ME!!
