Well the surgery went well and he has been home a week. Fingers crossed things go well and that the tests come back clear.

I apologize that I haven't been able to check in as often, but hopefully things will calm down and get back to a more normal routine. I have managed to stay on track and not binge or stress eat, which is great for me. Although my weight loss has stalled since his diagnosis, I am hoping to get back to losing weight as the appointments drop off.

I want to again welcome new members, say, "Hi," to the old ones and encourage all of you to make progress towards your goals. Aim to improve your health, your life, your weight a little each day. It isn't a sprint, but a journey. Believe in yourself and give yourself a push whenever you feel like you can't do it. Even little steps can get you over the finish line. Keep moving forward.

Dropped my fiance off for surgery this morning. I just called the hospital to check on him and they said he is in recovery. Hopefully he will be released by the weekend. Fingers crossed.


I hope things are going well for all team members. Life can get busy, hectic and sometimes it can be hard to stay on track. Just remember to do your best to make healthy decisions whenever and wherever you can.

I hope everyone is having a good week and that you will have an even better weekend. Things have been so busy and hectic here. I have been ok on my eating, No binging, which is a huge plus for me. I always struggled with binges, especially when stressed. I hope you all have nice weather and remember you are worth it.

I have been incredibly busy here. I didn't gain this week, but I didn't lose any weight either. Next month is going to be busy and stressful. My fiance's surgery is scheduled for late Aug. and we are packing house as well as looking for a second hand car. We have consults and nurse visits all next month. Tomorrow morning is another hospital visit. I just hope all this leads to a good outcome for us and hopefully better future.

I hope everyone is doing fine. CATIATM I hope you are staying on track and moving towards your goals.

CATIATM- I hope you enjoy the bbq. I always loved celebrating the 4th of July, the bbqs, fireworks, celebrating things that make the US great and of course watermelon. How different it is when you are in the southern hemisphere and the 4th of July is in winter.

Regarding my fiance, he has stage 3 cancer. Late March & early April he had 2 moles removed, both came back positive. First one was removed entirely, so that was good. Second one was more aggressive and deeper, so he had a surgery last month to remove more tissue and get a lymph node biopsy- just in case. Well this Wednesday we went for the post op follow up and the surgeon told us the cancer had spread to the lymph nodes. The want to operate again this month and remove all the lymph nodes in the area. They will will be sent to pathology and see how many nodes are affected. It is hoped the removal of the rest of the nodes in the area will increase his survival rate. But yes, that is why things were so hectic the past few months. We really had hoped after his operation last month that he would be in the clear. They said it was highly unlikely (less then 4% chance) it had spread to the lymph nodes as we had caught both cancers so early. That is why I thought things would finally be back to normal, he thought so too. So yeah we are floored. More tests, appointments, consults, labs, etc.. as they get ready for this next operation. He will have a tube for drainage for 6 weeks after. Right now we are just focused on him getting through the surgery. We would love to hear the surgery is a success and that the cancer hasn't spread. I think he deserves some good news for once.

Anyways, I do hope you have a good weekend. We are going to be snuggled under the covers as it is cold and stormy here. Happy 4th of July CATIATM.

How I wish we were having fun. The post op consult went bad. More surgery for my fiance later this month. Sometimes things just keep piling up. We are just doing the best we can. I am glad you like your job CATIATM. It makes it more rewarding when you enjoy it.

Yesterday was normal busy, same with rest of the week. It almost feels like a vacation not to have so much chaos going on. I am grateful for just the normal routine. I hope it stays that way for a good long while.

Wow, what an awesome job on the race. Congrats on sticking it through and finishing despite getting lost. Do make sure you rest up and recover.

It is Sunday night here, so my weekend has come and gone. Yesterday was busy running errands, but today we decided to just relax. Monday will be here and then it will be all go for the rest of the week. But it felt great to sleep in and just relax today. You are a wise woman. I wish I had seen this yesterday. He passed me on the course today with a cheery wave, and I mentally murdered him.

So ... one of the toughest races I've ever attempted. Great volunteers, but poorly marked,, and I got lost. I don't know how far I actually went, but it took me a whopping five hours to cross the line! The a new personal worst for me, but I've got the medal, and it's in the books, as they say. My body is shattered - a big chunk of it was a steep incline, and I'm just not all that fit. I burned 4000 calories on the course!

Yeah I saw the comment on the other thread, but don't dwell on it. You are what is important to you. He is not important to you. If an ant told you that you were fat, you would ignore it (or youtube it talking and make millions), you might even laugh because that ant is so small that it doesn't matter what it says to you. When people make those rude comments, picture them as ants. They are tiny and don't matter. All you met was a talking ant.

I am doing better on that front but need to improve more. Hearing that man (I won't bore you by repeating it on this thread) made me realize that I need to accept that people are going to be ugly towards me, despite the fact that soooo many people are overweight that it's kind of the norm. It seems to me that fat shaming is worse than ever here, and that makes me mad, but it also lets me know that being fat is holding me back in even more ways than I had realized.

Well, if you are having trouble limiting yourself, do that old trick of eating something healthy before you go out to eat. That way you won't be famished and overeat the dishes. Heck you might even be able to eat half, get the other half to go for later if you are still a bit full from eating before hand. Either way, I am proud you have decided to try and not eat your way through your vacation. You can do this!

Thanks for the good advice! My problem is that I'm allll too aware of how tasty those dishes are! And my diet has been so bland and repetitive for the past several months that it's beyond exciting to eat something else. So I've tried to do the "once and say good-bye". One lobster lunch. One hoagie. One Arby's roast beef sandwich. etc. Mixed results, but I'm trying not to eat my way through this vacation.

CATIATM - I hope you are doing good. I love eating different foods, so I totally understand the how hard it can be when you are out, especially when traveling. I try to find ethnic dishes that are mostly on plan for me and check the portions. I often google ethnic dishes that are on plan and sometimes that means I try something new. Example- I never had egg foo young until I googled low carb Chinese dishes. I discovered I liked it. So sometimes you might discover an ethnic dish that you never tried, or twist on a dish you like, and it might just become your favorite one. Anyways I wish you safe and happy travels. Do your best to make healthy choices.

I am sorry you had a rough night before. I hope this weekend goes better for you. Also congrats on losing more weight this week. You are really doing great and you should be proud you are succeeding despite the obstacles and stresses you are facing there daily. Just keep reminding yourself you are are awesome!

My week has been busy, this weekend is the same. I have paperwork and chores to finish this weekend. I don't expect a loss this week when I weigh in, but I am planning on June being better.

Hopefully the irregular periods won't be a trend. If they do become that way, it is best to see a doctor just to make sure there isn't anything else going on healthwise. Stress can sometimes lead to irregular periods. Hopefully it is nothing but an aberration.

Weekend was busy for me. Monday was busy and the rest of the week will be the same. Hoping to get the grocery shopping done tomorrow, but I will still need to head to the fruit & veg shop later in the week. Tomorrow is my weigh in, so I will see how that goes.

So far, 260 has been lame, but you're right. It's inspiration to "short term rent" and keep moving!

Today wasn't great, though. I've been super strong on sweets but suddenly wanted sweets and carbs. Lo and behold! My period started today, which is odd, as I just had one! emoticon

I'm heading back to Kandahar tomorrow. This was just a quick hop up to the capital.

We work seven days a week, so the only plans I really have this weekend are to re-focus on exercise, which got disrupted in my travels. I am going to walk 10 miles on Sunday as part of my half marathon training. I'm under-trained and a little scared.

I "sold" my place in 280ville and joined the 260ville town register. That town seems kind of dead. 270ville seems to be the action in the region! ... I wonder what 250ville is like .... and look forward to finding out soon!

Monday went well. I am glad you are continuing your weight loss. You are correct in that it isn't going to disappear overnight, as it didn't happen overnight. Also there is that saying, " Good things take time." I rather lose it right, then lose it fast and wind up back here.

266.4 today. I'm excited at going the right direction but it's a sobering realization that I need to lose 100 lbs.before I'm even at the "just overweight" category. Yikes!

I left the 280ville. I don't plan to ever visit. I'd really like to reach the 250s before the end of the month, but we'll have to see. I didn't get fat overnight, and I'm not going to un-fat myself overnight, either.

I've had 11 hours of sleep over the past three nights, and it's taking a toll on me.

Although I haven't returned to 270ville, I'm not exactly speeding towards 250ville, either. I don't know why. I'm creating deficits every day, but the scale is not showing me a lot of love. Boo hoo hoo.

I hope you were able to get some good sleep tonight. Sleep is so important to overall health as well as weight loss, so yes, try to get those zzz's!

Today went well, I stayed on track, met my new GP and got some blood work done. I am so ready for the weekend. Thank goodness Friday is nearly here.

Thanks for the trophy, AMBER! I'm going to depart 280ville all together but keep my cottage in 270ville until I reach 250ville. I try not to dwell on it, but I've had to move back too many times to count.

I know. The heat is a killer. I drink 14-16 glasses of water a day and am always thirsty.

Congrats on the loss! Even a little helps, and slower weright loss is more likely to be fat. Big drops are water or even muscle. YAY for progress!

I wouldn't mind the sun, but too much heat I can do without. emoticon I had my weigh in today. I was down half a pound. Not a lot but I will take it. The scale is moving in the right direction so that is what counts. I plan to get some treadmill time this evening and watch a bit of television before bed.

The weather was nice all weekend. I got a bit of relaxing in yesterday which was a nice break to recharge for the week. Today the weather is rainy and cold. It is a busy day today and tomorrow is my weigh in.

Today was a great day, I feel slightly bad my day was so good compared to yours. I am glad you enjoyed the Drew quote, I liked it because I so often would say, "Oh this doughnut or fries are my reward for staying on track." Yup, junk food as a reward is so silly. Rewards should be things that make us feel good without making us move backwards. Treats are still treats. But rewards should be beneficial to my goals and health overall.

My plans are to enjoy the weekend and get some walking done. I will try to relax but will still do a bit of things to make sure that I don't get overwhelmed come Monday. I did enjoy sleeping in today though. Thankfully the sun was out and shining all day, which just made it sweeter. I hope everyone has a great night and a wonderful weekend.

I love that you have a quote from Drew Carey. I saw him on DWTS and couldn't get over how much better he looks. He went vegan, lost weight, got in shape, and he just glows with happiness now!

I would love to get good enough to make some batch cook recipes that reheat well. I discussed it with my mom & sister last year & both gave me good sites and recommended some books. There are times I just don't have the time or energy to cook and then sometimes I will make bad food decisions- like ordering pizza. I cannot recall why I didn't pursue it, I may have to give it another look so thanks for mentioning that. It is great you are still working hard to make healthy choices despite your busy schedule. So kudos to you for doing that. It is really admirable. Tonight is a lazy dinner for me, chicken in the slowcooker and roasted cauliflower. I am looking forward to the weekend.

Morning! Your meals sound wonderful! I wish I could pop over and help you with your leftovers! I like cooking as a concept, but I'm only so-so at it and usually work too many hours to see it as anything more than a chore to be done as quickly as possible. In an effort to eat more healthy meals and save money by not eating out so much, I do batch cook and freeze portion sized containers to be easily reheated. It helps.

I appreciate that the site is free, too. I don't like all the pop up advertising cropping up non it though. They also permit advertisers to data mine our profiles and comments. The new set up will take some getting used to, but in general, I like it. I looks a little tidier now.

Hello, I hope everyone is having a great day. Yesterday was super busy, today is too. One of the good/bad things is I have lots of leftovers to eat, so the good thing about that is I don't have to cook. The down side to that is I kind of wanted too. I have that lovely purple cauliflower, the peppers and some fresh ham. I am thinking of roasting the cauliflower for the others- since they don't have leftovers to eat. I never thought I would be disappointed about not being able to cook. I guess that new habit about fixing more meals at home has truly become second nature. I can cope with that.

On a side note, this new Spark People layout is taking some getting used too. I will adjust and probably come to like it and some of the other new things they added. I think it is great that they still keep the site free. So many people need help and support to live healthier and having something as nice as SP free for all is wonderful.

My migraine left in the evening. I do often get them just before that time of month, this one was not one of those. I think it was brought about by some cleaning chemicals I was around yesterday morning without proper ventilation. Luckily the majority of my migraines rarely last more then a day. I have known a few people who have migraines that last nearly 2 days. It is good to hear that those tied to my hormones will most likely be gone when I reach menopause.

Good news is I actually lost 1.5 lbs this past week. It was a nice surprise. I was going to be happy with just the half pound I was aiming for, but I will gladly take the extra one pound loss. Now to focus on next week.

emoticon CATIATM, on losing more weight. Keep that scale moving in the right direction. Hopefully May will see you out of the 270s and even better numbers as the summer goes on. Just keep pushing.

YESTOME86- I hope things are going well for you and that you are getting some nice weather. Stay on track and keep making positive changes.

CATIATM, aim for progress, not perfection. You stayed mostly on plan, so that is good. Just focus on what you can improve on for the rest of the day and tomorrow. If you slip up, just get back on track right away. You can do this.

Yesterday went well. Got my treadmill time in, went to the fruit & veg shop and got some vegs for the week. This morning has started off with stress and a migraine. I took some aspirin and will be doing what I can to salvage the day and make it better.
