hello, ladies! I'm trying to keep active amidst all this trip prep - I'll be MIA for three weeks starting tomorrow :( I'll keep you all in my thoughts as I travel and do my best to stay healthy!

Yesterday, a 25 minute upper body circuit and some more gardening. My fridge is empty, but that's helping me to eat clean while I eat the last of my frozen veggies and lentils/quinoa for clean meals. My body's thanking me for a reprieve from excess sodium - I'm not going back!!!

seeing results (finally!!) with these daily HIIT circuits - I feel stronger, and my hips and thighs are finally getting a bit smaller! got to remember to keep myself on track while I'm traveling to keep my motivation going. daily meditation's helping, too.

Just take five minutes to regroup, and don't ever forget to make time for what makes you happy.

Hi, my name is Idalia. I am back after several years. I had lost 8 pounds successfully using sparkspeople about 9 years ago. And now I need help losing 4 pounds regained since that time. I have had 2 babies since then and lost all the weight no problem. But these recent weight gain is new. Those 4 pounds make a difference in the way my clothes feel. I really want to get rid of them for good. Happy monday everyone! Today is my first day officially on sparkspeople.

ate the walnut butter... but I thoroughly enjoyed it. it wasn't nearly as much as would be in a regular peanut butter jar, and walnuts are higher omega-3 than peanuts, so I'm okay with it.

made a delicious dinner of lentils with kombu and fresh herbs on a plate of roasted curried zucchini. super yummy; definitely going to make again!

today, a 15 mile bike ride around town followed by 40 minutes of gardening.

Just take five minutes to regroup, and don't ever forget to make time for what makes you happy.

mm, Air Supply and watermelon are two of the epitomes of summer smiles for me, ladies :) I'm sure those things brought you two smiles, too!

the counselor and I discovered I eat a lot of times when I'm avoiding taking a break from work... as if eating were productive! I suppose it is... when you're hungry and need fuel :)

I caught myself eating to avoid last night, too, but it definitely wasn't AS bad as usual I would say. Now that I'm aware of the why, it's less daunting. We'll see what happens tonight - I'll do my best to let myself relax a bit!

a tough run with a friend today, and a short bike commute to and from the trailhead and to the bank. wow, trail running is a challenge! tomorrow, another circuit. getting my workouts in before I'm sitting on a plane for hours and hours...

really fighting the urge to eat.all.the.walnut butter I just made.

no weigh in yesterday or today - workout in yesterday! Good job getting moving again chica and you always impress me Kaye! The summer squash was awesome and yesterday we picked out first cucumber - we had it sliced with DH and I and the kids eating it still warm from the sun! Yum - that is why I garden! We are just hanging around today - hope to get a few yellow garden beans in the soil and maybe some radishes before the end of June cutoff for planting. Bought a watermelon at the store yesterday - so good this time of year!

Hello Everyone!

Welcome Cindy!!!

What a busy weekend. Today is DH birthday! Yesterday we started celebrating by going to the premier of Transformers, we waited a; good hour for the movie to start. Today, just few minutes ago we arrived from the Air Supply concert, good memories! And tomorrow is DH's dad and his wife 50th wedding anniversary and their grown up kids are getting together to celebrate the event.

Me, no looking forward to go to the event.

I started again at the gym with the trainer 4 times a week (Mon and Tues/Thu and Fridays)
a full hour of workout. Next week a new set of routine.

ooh that sounds like a blast, Christie! How'd the summer squash taste?

I recently picked a few squash and roasted them with garlic, carrots, and herbs in coconut oil... paired with curried lentils, and it was delish!

40 minute HIIT circuit today. yesterday was a rest day. also going to bike 12 miles to run errands around town.

feeling a bit better after a good convo with my counselor this morning

no weigh in - no workout. Dentist went ok - picked a summer squash for dinner tonight...we are growing acorn and summer squash, romaine lettuce, beets, hot and bell peppers, cucumbers, tomatoes(32 plants!), watermelon, green beans, cauliflower, basil, mint, orgegano, and parsley - wild blackberries and blueberries and strawberries are already done....I think that's all!
Welcome Cindy! Keep up the good work! Kay - you are doing well!

that's exciting, Christie! I look forward to hearing more about your garden; as a fellow gardener, not much brings me more joy than picking my harvest each morning (green beans, peas, blueberries, squash, tomatoes, fresh herbs).

Welcome, Cindy! how exciting for you :) keep up the hard work!

yesterday, I got in a 35 minute circuit and a 30 mile bike ride with friends - celebrated with them afterwards eating 2 fish tacos, having a drink, and watching 22 Jump Street.

my body's not used to that kind of exercise (taken some time off), so I've been eating quite a bit! trying to not berate myself for it, but it's always a challenge.

Hi all! My name is Cindy.
Just back in from a busy June with travels to Vermont and then Texas to see family. It is so very nice to get back home to our youngest son that is on college break and our two emoticon

Today I weighed in at 128.2 which is the lowest I have been in a very long time! Being under 130 is tough for me but doable! Swimming and walking today emoticon

Please pray for and support our troops.....They are the very reason we live in the land of the free......let us give thanks to our BRAVE.

started the day with a 25 minute intense circuit and 10 minute slower circuit to cool down. walked 2.2 miles to school (ended up running for about 8 minutes because I was late).

ack, too much dried fruit yesterday. my GI tract is a bit upset with me.

ugh, what a rough day. woke up to my mom calling me because my cat's (my parents are watching her while I'm in South America) cast came off in the night - not good for severely torn ligaments!

On top of that, cleaners came today to clean the house before new tenants move in - the old tenants left a MESS! Ugh, so much stress... and my skin is showing it. so is my waistline. so bloated!

burned calories cleaning, but didn't get a workout in. harumph. hopefully tomorrow will be better; I'm starting the day with a workout for sure!!!!

It's so hard to let go of our loved furry friends - I'm sorry to hear about that, Christie :( and Chica, sounds like you're getting back into the swing of things!

I've been exercising, diet has been fairly good save an out of control binge last night after a big argument with my sister. I ate some things my stomach definitely did not like.

keeping up on usual workouts, today I didn't do any weights, but I walked 2 miles, moved boxes for a friend, and biked 15 miles. favorite meal was a spring mix salad with salmon and acorn squash. yum!

Just take five minutes to regroup, and don't ever forget to make time for what makes you happy.

Sorry for your lose Christie!

That is another reason I keep pushing back and very back to adopt a doggie! First because I love to travel and second because one day he/she will go to doggie heaven.

I gained some weight since I stop doing the cardio-kickboxing. Last week I did 2 days of 30 minutes Jackie Warner videos and 1 of pilates, took Sat and Sun off and today I trained with my friend at the gym. My left leg is screaming but need to hold it. Tomorrow will go back again.

no home weigh in - weighed in with clothes on mid day at Dr at 120. Workout in. I was really nervous because I have been so off healthy for several days since putting my cat to sleep. It really hit us hard. I would guess I;m still in my official 5 lbs range at home which is what I base it on. 120 is actually 3 lbs more than last summer's Dr weigh in which was in the AM - but slightly less than 2011 and 2012. Not too bad for being so bad eating lately. Glad to see you checking in - keep me posted ladies!

I'm so sorry I've been MIA! life has been a little crazy.

I've been keeping up on the weighted 25 minute circuits and supplementing them with walking and cycling. running is just not working out recently due to an ankle injury. factor in a severely infected ingrown toenail (gross, I know), and I'm struggling to get activity in!

I've been keeping eating fairly clean - healthy fats in place of PB, but too many beans, and a granola evening. too much sodium. overall, cleaner diet though. dunno my weight.

Just take five minutes to regroup, and don't ever forget to make time for what makes you happy.

170 ... that's right. I am 6 foot tall. Today was a rest day. I did a few stretches; and a short walk. 5 days a week I work out in the pool for 55 to 85 minutes. Went out for Mexican food and exercised portion control by ordering ala carte.

no weigh in - workout in. Where is everyone? Stayed on course today and hubby brought home a giant bag of skittles and choc tonight from school....must not eat it. I plan on buying some Greek frozen yogurt to indulge in instead to keep myself on course this weekend - I figure even if I ate the whole pint I will have protein and it's only 600 calories. Better than an all day 2000 calorie sugar binge. Wish me luck with weaning off the binges! Have a great weekend!

only ate 2000 calories yesterday - focused on high fiber foods, and that really helped with portion control (if you eat too much, digestive issues are sure to follow!)

going to see if the same tactic works today. 25 minute circuit, legs today.

Just take five minutes to regroup, and don't ever forget to make time for what makes you happy.

yesterday was a 4 mile run up a mountain and a 25 minute circuit.

today was a 21 mile bike ride and a 25 minute circuit.

I've been eating EVERYTHING, too! but measurements are down for the most part because I've been focusing on the good stuff.

averaging 2300 calories this week - typically it's been higher, so that's a win

Just take five minutes to regroup, and don't ever forget to make time for what makes you happy.

definitely feeling more confident. could be the fact that I'm making a conscious effort to put myself together before I leave for the day (makeup and all!), but I'll take the boosted confidence! It's like night and day.

Today, I made the most delicious lunch in 10 minutes - chopped up collard greens and sauteed them in coconut oil. Added cayenne, curry powder, and pepper, and fresh thyme, sage, hot curry plant, and oregano from the garden. Topped it all with fresh squeezed lemon juice and sardines, and it was seriously amazing. So fresh. Either I was starving, or it really tasted that good.

Today, walked 3 miles and will have biked 11 miles by the end of it all. No circuit, but I do need a rest day!

Just take five minutes to regroup, and don't ever forget to make time for what makes you happy.

117 - workout in. Felt brave even though I think cousin red will arrive any minute - a little up but not horrible. Stuck to healthy today...tomorrow will not be so much so but I will really make an effort not to go nuts! My cycle is crazy too Kaye - never sure but I have been super edgy and wanting choc. I have been getting into the trail mix- choc chips, raisins, cashews right before bed - I guess there are worse things to eat! Have a great weekend all!

you're doing great, Christie! I definitely had chocolate during PMS a few wks ago. It's always hard for me to tell if it's PMS or not because my cycle is extremely irregular, but if I have chocolate, it's almost a given that that's what's going on :)

today was a 25 minute circuit, dance party, biking 8 miles, and walking 1.8 miles. I really love circuit training; I'm going to stick with it!

stocked up on healthy groceries for the weekend; easy guilt free snacking:
green beans, broccoli, brussel sprouts, cabbage, pineapple, raspberries

made up a meal plan for next week:
breakfast: banana blueberry almond milk chia seed smoothie, green tea
snack: 2 pieces cinnamon raisin toast, tsp coconut oil
lunch: green salad with sardines, balsamic vinegar, green tea
snack: edamame
dinner: lentil mushroom tomato soup, green tea

focusing on the good stuff takes the stress of it all away.

Just take five minutes to regroup, and don't ever forget to make time for what makes you happy.

no weigh in - workout in. Cravings and PMS snapping at my poor son who was overtired....I cleaned the entire house as much as I could to keep away from the choc bunny in the cabinet. I have cookout on Sat - hoping for lots of healthy choices and not going crazy the rest of the day/weekend.

I wouldn't weigh in during PMS either, Christie :) I haven't weighed in for weeks now; it really doesn't make me feel good, and I'd rather use my clothes and measurements as they feel like a gentler indication of my results.

no workout today. too much to do. that's okay; I do need a rest day this week. I'm feeling very tired anyhow.

ate too much oat bran with cinnamon, but that is okay; there are worse things. my goal is to eat less of it and NO granola next week!!! these are the big calorie contributors for me. I'll get under 2,000 per day if I can replace these with healthier options/eat the healthier options in moderation.

Just take five minutes to regroup, and don't ever forget to make time for what makes you happy.

hello ladies,

It sounds like everyone is managing! I'm doing okay - it's the week before finals, and I have lots of projects, but no exams. So... crunch mode right now. But I have been managing to get my workouts in, and I have been doing my best diet-wise. I have been eating at night, but that is okay. I am on track to average 1800 cal/day this week, which is much less than my typical average (I'm lucky that I am very active). Here's what my workouts have been:

Sunday: run 6.8
Monday: run 4.9
Tuesday: 25 minute circuit with 5 lb dumbbells (this was tough; it's been a while!)
Wednesday: run 6.1

Thursday will be another 25 minute circuit, and Friday will be a relaxed power yoga day. I'm glad you love it, Chica!! Isn't it fantastic?!

Been taking daily progress photos, and they are helping keep me in check. I did get defensive with my mom when she told me to not worry about gaining weight; how can I not worry? I apologized and feel bad, but I feel like we shouldn't even talk about weight anymore because it is a point of tension.

Keeping positive, but today was harder. I wanted to run 8 miles but only had time for 6. At least I got some exercise in!

Just take five minutes to regroup, and don't ever forget to make time for what makes you happy.

Hello ladies!!!!

No weigh in for me until I get to the trunk of DH's truck and grab it. I let my friend from Colombia use it to weight the luggage and it worked but I always keep forgetting to bring it back home, it has been there since Saturday morning, I'll do my best to get it either Sunday or anytime before next Wednesday!...I want to know how much I weight before vacation.

Went to Power Yoga and love it!!!!!

no weigh in - workout in and lots of cravings. Frozen grapes help so much though and I try not to feel guilty about eating them. My mind is so focused on eating perfectly that it spirals so much negative energy and destructive health behavior when I don't. Got to get over that!! Pulled more weeds today - had a bad day yesterday with eating everything in sight but only one day was I really horrible this weekend - at least it wasn;t 2!

It's okay, Chica, just treat yourself well. Don't get down!

I pushed myself out of the house for a combo trail and street run - just shy of 5 miles (4.9) followed by a 10-minute body weight and 3lb dumbbell circuit. I noticed that when I wasn't getting down on myself and pushing myself for punishment for what I ate, just purely to be faster and feel good, I ran faster!

still focusing on keeping myself up and optimistic. no more negativity here!

Just take five minutes to regroup, and don't ever forget to make time for what makes you happy.

Christie, nice job!!

Yes, I made some sweet treats, but I munched a lot of them. Portion control overall is just a challenge for me. I've been realizing that I am just too darn hard on myself, and it sets me up for failure because I get so caught up in negativity! I'm working really hard at it and am getting better about drinking water before and after meals. I could do better to sit down with my meals before eating.

Thanks for well wishes - Izzy (kitty) is doing better. resting a lot, getting lots of love. We both needed it :)

Had a ROUGH week last week due to PMS. I'm amazed at how terribly long my mood is down because of it. going to get back to natural remedies that were helping, but I stopped taking them a few months back.

Today, I went for a 6.4 mile run and played golf. the run was harder than I'd have liked it to be, but such is life!

Just take five minutes to regroup, and don't ever forget to make time for what makes you happy.

no weigh in - gardened today so sort of a little workout. Cheated with a little trail mix last night but ate very well today even with a cookout full of junkfood tempting me...not to mention my hubby keeps telling me where all the junkfood is. My smallest jeans were too tight to wear though today so I had to bump up a size....that tells me I am still up. Hope you are all doing well!

no weigh in - lots of cravings and boredom but resisted - and workouts in yesterday and today. Kaye- you are just like me with the PB and granola - did you try making the dark choc almond or PB cups? portion controlled and a good hit of what you like plus banana. Sorry about your kitty!

XSarah - good job in maintaining! Have fun at the beach - which ocean are you visiting?

Kaye- That is terrible about your kitty! I didn't know they could break a foot!

Y'all know the drill! I've been busy, haven't weighed myself in about 2 weeks, nor have I tracked, and somehow with holidays/bbq's/concerts/etc, I've managed to maintain and weighed in at 149 today. I'm very happy about this. I leave for the beach in less than 48 hours and so I got all of my summer clothes and bikinis out last night and I'm happy to say they all fit wonderfully! Even stuff that was too small on me last year or stuff that I've had since high school (7 years ago!). I can't say that I made my "goal" that I had hoped to be at by this time(143-145), but I am happy with where I'm at and believe that I've toned up and will continue to, even if life and fun get in the way sometimes. I did decide I do not want to run an ultra this summer, but I am finding balance and managing to go to the gym even if its only for 30 min of weights, and have been waking up early for cardio most days, and still enjoying a cookie or three and family time, etc without feeling guilty.

Life is good!

it's been a hard week - back to nighttime eating, my cat broke her foot (NOT cheap!), and I had a 13 hour field trip yesterday for a class that I despise.

Ate granola yesterday. lots of it. everything else was healthy. I guess it's not the worst, and I'm likely filling the void that PB has left, but man is it hard!

you know how it goes - we all wish we could just be 10 lbs thinner and THEN go on the diet :)

ran 4.6 miles this morning. will walk and catch up with family on the phone at farmer's market tonight. also will stretch a bit during down time (what little of it I've got).

on a high note, I've gotten up and out for my workout at 6:30 or earlier EVERY morning this week!

Monday: strength circuit, 20 minute dance party, 40 minute walk
Tuesday: 4 mile run, intermittent strength training
Wednesday: 5 mile walk
Thursay: 4.6 mile run, walk, strength training/yoga

Just take five minutes to regroup, and don't ever forget to make time for what makes you happy.

no weigh in - workout in - last two days have been - weekend was awful. May not allow myself to weigh in until two weeks are up to try to keep myself in control this weekend - the weekends are killing my healthy streak and I feel awful on Mondays. there was a situation with my credit card (can't make purchases exceeding a certain amount; they froze it and I couldn't split it between two cards). silly credit union! I've got enough funds, so it's frustrating. taken care of, but now I have yet to receive a confirmation email for the booking I made successfully yesterday. will see how it goes.

WHOAH, super bloated today. I ran 4 miles and biked to campus, and will do yoga tonight. eating could be better, but could also be worse. stocked up on healthy veggies and fruits, so no excuses.

Morning ladies!

Taking a long break...watching Flight with Denzel Washington, then going downstairs to plant a Hydrangea and do some cleaning, maybe take advantage and put some gas on my car since is going to be a busy week.

Have a friend who's coming from out of country and we will go crazy after her afternoon training.

Started eating well today and will do my best from tomorrow 'til Saturday, the struggling part will be during the afternoon, because I please my friends and take them to whenever they want to do....but will keep myself busy morning and mid-day at the gym.

Peru! for vacation? have you tried to play with your days?

glad you got to get out of town for a bit, Chica! don't worry, sometimes we need a break from the daily routine. you'll get back into it.

for me, eating's been okay the past day and a half. under 2000 cal/day. I've been having some issues in trying to book flights for a trip to Peru this July, so that's been frustrating. With the holiday, I can't contact my bank to actually speak to a representative. I guess that's how it goes sometimes.

Yesterday, I managed to go for a power walk and get a 20 minute dance break in. Today I'm supposed to start marathon training... this will be interesting. Haven't run in a month! It's kind of crazy to think about.

Just take five minutes to regroup, and don't ever forget to make time for what makes you happy.

Hello ladies!

I came back from a short short weekend out of town....to far that it was only 45 mins away home. Went to a young couple wedding and came back today. Also today I spent time with DS at his work and then came back home, had some food with DH and now watching tv.

I told DH that tomorrow he needs to force me to do exercise.

feeling discouraged after a brush up with peanut butter and oats when I got back home. I think I over-deprived at the conference, and I over-compensated by overeating upon my return.

I'm doing my best to stay positive, and I've made a new plan: I've got pre-portioned almond butter packs and I'm sticking to grains that I don't overeat (forbidden rice, millet, quinoa).

Now, to be patient. I struggle with impatience and then I gobble everything in sight because I give up! I need to commit to long-term changes and results will come with continued dedication. So, for now, I'm reveling in last week's success, and I'm focusing on the good stuff. I've got good healthy meals packed up for next week and no PB jars in sight!

Just take five minutes to regroup, and don't ever forget to make time for what makes you happy.

no weigh in 0 workout in. Had so many cravings today and have fought them for the most part - DH's bday tomorrow - cake does not seem attractive at all but Sunday we will be traveling around...ugh. I hate the weekend cravings - they lead to trouble. Kay - celery with salsa sounds so good right now. I do not know why every single slightly stressful situation or emotion I feel makes me want to eat sugar. I know I have some weight on me that wasn't there until recently - no just water weight. Too much salt too I know. Anyway - have a great weekend all!!
