i have been wondering how one eats so many bananas a day! i love them...i would probably be a good candidate for eating 25 a day like banana girl! im seeing that they are more used in smoothies than eating plain. i have also been wondering about the calorie intake. it seems the calorie intake of a raw foodist..primarily fruitarians calorie intake is almost twice that needed to maintain weight (all the calories needed in a day) yet they still lose weight and are perfect!

Watermelon sounds really good!

I didn't log my food today but I had watermelon, banana/mango ice cream and a bowl of celery with tomato.

I went a little overboard and made a raw taco recipe. Came out pretty good. My calculations are exact since there were some minor things I left out like carrot, celery, a little bit of lettuce but it's pretty close.

Breakfast: 10 bananas with carob powder. Just like chocolate mlyk!
Lunch: 4 bananas mixed with blueberries
Dinner: 8 bananas with peaches and raspberries. A big salad with a whole head of lettuce, 1 spiralized zucchini, 1/2 avocado and a handful of grape tomatoes. Yum!
Water: 2 liters. Really should have more. I'm a water fiend! 4 liters is more like it.

I've been feeling not as good with all these avocados lately. Once a week would suit me best. But the salads are soooo yummy with it :)

This is what I had yesterday 1/1/13
I will post today's late on tonight.

Breakfast: Smoothie with peaces, raspberries and 11 bananas
Lunch: 12 cups of freshly squeezed orange juice
Dinner: Smoothie with 6 bananas, raspberries and more peaches. My favorite combo. I also made a big bowl of zucchini pasta with sun-dried tomatoes, grape tomatoes, 3 zucchini, 1 cup of corn, 1/2 avocado. It was delish! I got to use my new spiralizer I got for Christmas.

Here was my noms for the day!

Breakfast: 15 bananas w/ raspberries & peach blended to a beautiful smooooothie
Lunch: 8 cups super pulpy fresh squeezed OJ
Dinner: 15 bananas w/ more raspberries and peach smoothie. 2 romaine hearts and some chopped kale, 3/4 cup corn and 1 tomato salad. My salad seriously weighed at least 5lbs
Water: 2.5 liters
Exercise: 2.5 hours yoga
Sleep: 8hrs

More water and sleep much needed for me at least.

How was everyones Thanksgiving?
We made Kristina's raw pumpkin pie. I was a little hesitant about trying raw pumpkin but it was very yummy. We didn't add any spices she mentioned and it was still super yum!

Lunch: 14 oranges juiced with 1 cup blended pineapple.

Super yummy juice! I've been getting cases of oranges lately.

It's the morning but so far I'm sipping on a banana pineapple smoothie

1 whole pineapple...well maybe not whole since the BF snuck some.

We got a box of nanners from a wholesaler and they are giant bananas. Less peels to peel I guess since I won't have to use as many.

I find when a watermelon isn't as great as I would like.... I blend it up in my Vita-Mix with 2 or three peeled limes or lemons. Adds a lovely freshness to it. I did that for dinner last night. 1900 grams of watermelon + 2 limes and 1 lemon. YUM!

So glad to hear from you here Skinny! Good for you writing.

OK - here's my feedback about your food: It's not nearly enough! Not nearly.

Let me be brutally honest for the sake of you getting the real benefits of this diet. You gotta eat more - way more.

Are you tracking this on www.cronometer.com ?

On 811 there is no juicing - we need the fiber to keep blood sugar at good levels. Also for the digestive process. You've got a lot of juicing going on. Why?

Just throw those oranges and grapefruits right into the blender - get a Vitamix if you don't have one. Even without a Vitamix you can certainly throw them into a regular blender, just cut them up first. Add plenty of water.

The other thing that pops out at me is this is not nearly enough FRUIT. Girl, you gotta base this diet on fruit.

Those are not Karen's instructions. Those are the basis of 80-10-10 which is what she is referring to. Fats are not going to make you feel good. Fill up on fruit.

Get yourself a bunch of bananas. Get a bunch of medjool dates.

Eat more. Track your food. Pay attention to how much fat you are getting by the end of the day.

Make your carbs a minimum of 80% of every day's diet. At most - get that - a MAXIMUM of 10% protein and 10% fats.

OK -sorry to be so harsh. But this diet does really really work if you eat enough and get enough fruit.

I'm so glad you wrote. I hope you still are glad you wrote. But this stuff has got no chance if you don't eat enough. So proud of you!

OK, here I am...In an effort to be more transparent and get support around my eating, I will log my food:
Breakfast - juiced a couple of oranges & a grapefruit. Added to a smoothie of several bananas, a handful of strawberries, one mango & a couple of soaked dates. OK but not great.

Lunch - juiced celery, carrots, lettuce, 1 apple, lemon, & ginger and added to blender with a large tomato, basil, parsley, & a sliver of garlic. We'll see how it is.

I've finished my breakfast juice & feel full & satisfied. I also brought an apple in case I need to snack. For dinner I'll make a big salad & maybe cut into a crenshaw melon that I bought last night. I am trying to avoid the avocado & nuts (per Karen's instructions). Feeling much better today. Thanks for all the support.

I ate 5 strawberries, some watermelon, pineapple, cantoloupe

lemon, lime in water

smoothie (blackberries, strawberries, mango, papaya, waternelon, cantoloupe, pineapple, banana, spinach (maybe other greens), green powder stuff and cinnamon)

flate bread sandwitch with lots of veggies (I have been sooo busy that I'm tooo tiered to make a salad)

40 minutes on my elliptical (I do this everyday)



Sunday

I ate 5 strawberries, some watermelon, pineapple, cantoloupe

lemon, lime in water

smoothie (blackberries, strawberries, mango, papaya, waternelon, cantoloupe, pineapple, banana, spinach (maybe other greens), green powder stuff and cinnamon)

Saturday

When I'm having overt fats, I enjoy an avocado - or half - with some cilantro and lemon juice. That's real easy to whip up in a blender. But as I said, I find that when I have overts I tend to want salt and more fats.

So for now, I'm going to get my greens in smoothies.

But I do miss salads.

well it has been 1 tablespoon of low fat ranch and low fat french and I have been looking for something better and now I will be switching to the new dressing I told you about earlier,.but I have tried lots of dressing and never can find one I like (that is low fat and sugar) When I get a dressing I don't like I mix it with the ones I do like and I think I'm eating that dressing right now cause my tongue is on fire (the dressing i don't like)

I put every vegies I have in my salads...I swear I think I will only put a little of everything but its still is big.

some tomato, cucumber, yellow squash, zucinhi, red and yellow pepper, broccoli, mushrooms, cauliflower, blueberries, blackberries, peas in a pod. carrots, onion, sprouted lentils, lettuce (mostly roman) all the greens I have (right now I just went shopping so I have alot, spinach, bok choy, swiss chard, dino kale, curly kale) oh yea piano student gave me some lettuce from their garden...and Ibet I'm missing a few veggies....boy I need a big bowl...lol

Cucumbers, tomatoes, red bell peppers, and of course lettuce! Lately the dark greens just taste bitter to me. So mostly light greens. Sometimes green onions.

Thanks for the tips DS9KIE. Think I'll stick with my raw for now - but I'll keep waldenfarms in mind. Maybe I'm just now waiting long enough with the fruit dressings. Maybe it takes a while to get the fruit nice and worked into the lettuces.

Also someone suggested that I cut my lettuce super fine. I'll try once again with fruit dressing - lots of mangos ready to go here!

Hey ROSALIEESTHER I'm the same way and I have been looking for a yummy, healthy salad dressing( I have failed at making dressings) but I figured a little salad dressing no matter what it is its better with a big salad than not eating the salad.

. I'm not sure how raw they are but they low in fat and everything else, some of the flavors taste funny but I found two that I really like, the raspberry and the Zesty Italian, still only use a little on my salad.

I also found that when I put frozen blueberries, blackberries, raspberries and strawberries (all or one it doesn't matter) that as they melt they start juicing the salad and adds to the dressing.

Friday

I ate 5 strawberries, half an apple and pear, some watermelon, blueberries, blackberries, raspberries

lemon, lime in water

smoothie (blackberries, strawberries, mango, papaya, spinach (maybe other greens), green powder stuff and cinnamon)

then I had eggplant, mushrooms, greens, stir fry veggies (boy choy, swiss chard, red pepper. tomato, beans, zucchini) on a sweet potato

pineapple, cantaloupe, watermelon, strawberries

40 minutes on my elliptical (I do this everyday)

Thanx NEWMESOON100. That its exactly what I'm finding out too! I think a lot of us here ar saying the same thing. Overts make us crave fats and salts. And you know that means craving cooked food.

Unfortunately, I just do not like salads without overts. So my food gets pretty much down to just fruit much of the time. Do you like salads with no fat dressings like tomato or mango? I don't.

I don't consider corn to be an overt fat. We had been having a discussion about durian being 30% fat. And I was just pointing out that it's not about the fat in any one food that we eat. It's about eating maximum 10% fat in all the calories we eat for the whole day.

Thanx for reassuring me about the lower calorie consumption for each day. As long as I have energy and I don't eat so little that I'm craving anything, anything at all, then that's fine.

Thanks ROSALIEESTHER! :D I tend to just not eat overts because for some reason they make me crave cooked foods. I don't get it but they do. lol. I can maybe one a month or so, anymore than that next thing I know I'm drooling at the thought of eating french fries. Yikes!

I don't think you have to consume 3000 cals a day. I mean I'm 4 ft 10 and fairly active. I can do 3000 but I don't need it. I can run just fine on 1800.

Anyways, off to eat my salad. :D

Hi NEWMESOON! Good to see you.

I just can't seem to keep up with my calories! I'm soooooooo full. Just watched a Swayze Foster video about how she eats between 800 and 4000 calories. Just depends. So that comforted me a bit.

Also found out something that I think will interest everyone. I had 2 ears of wonderful sweet corn for lunch. They were 40% fat!!!!! But of course, as I added more carbs from fruit to the day, down came that percent. So, don't be scared of overt fats. Just eat plenty of fruit carbs!

Of course - no overt fats during the 9 day challenge.

OK for May 25, 2012

1570 Total calories

Carbs: 92.5%
Proteins 4.1%
Fats: 3.4% (even with those 2 ears of corn

It's only 10 am here, but breakfast was 11 bananas with the juice of 3 large pomegranates (about a cup) and 1 cup of turnip greens. Man it was delish!!

I plan on 15 or so large oranges for lunch, probably more and maybe a few more oranges and then zucchini pasta for dinner. :)

I did 15 minutes of abs today. I also carried a lot of really heavy things so I'm counting that also :) My ab muscles are already sore.

I ate 5 strawberries, half an apple and pear,

smoothie (blackberries, strawberries, mango, papaya, spinach (maybe other greens), green powder stuff and cinnamon)

big huge salad with lot of lettuce, spinach, some tomato, cucumber, yellow squash, red and yellow pepper, broccoli, cauliflower, blueberries, blackberries, peas in a pod. carrots, onion, sprouted lentils

then I had eggplant, mushrooms, on a tomato sandwich with spinach

40 minutes on my elliptical (I do this everyday)
Two 10 minute kickboxing exercise from a DVD

Mmmmm you guys are making me want a massive salad! I will have to bring one to work tomorrow and pick up some grape tomatoes!

I love the combo of baby greens with apples and raisins with a little lemon juice. So good!

So here is today

Breakfast: 3/4 of a watermelon (the middle was mushy)
Snack: 4 peaches
Lunch: 8 bananas (I have a little goal of 10 in one sitting)
Dinner: 10 bananas blended with 1.5 cups of raspberries and 3 giant strawberries

Calories: 3,229
Carbs: 90.9%
Protein: 5.3%
Fat: 3.8%

I see what you mean Kneyrus. I guess it all depends on the total calories for the day. Even high fat items like tahini might not increase the percentage of calories from fat eaten in one day. Depends on the amount of carbs we consume.

I've only had Durian once. I bet you loved every morsel!

OK yesterday May 21, 2012

I walked for 2 hours.

I ate too few calories: only 1786 calories.

I didn't track the specific breakdown, sorry. But for breakfast I ate a huge 10 banana, pineapple and strawberry smoothie.

Then for lunch I had about 20 cherry tomatoes and a mango and 2 oranges.

Supper was not a success. My bananas are soft (black) but not ripe. : ( I put them in the fridge when the bananas were still neon green.

So I only had a little of my green smoothie (nanners and dates and spinach).
