It's just starting to snow here. Wish I was in Hawaii again on a day like this!

Went out twice today in the rain with my gear and stayed nice-and-dry - I think we're finished with rain for a few days but it's great to have the right stuff around 'just in case'

Thanks, Lynda! I have an REI membership and am constantly getting coupons. I'll check it out!

A great investment that's not too expensive is to get some rain pants and a 'breathable' rain coat - REI often has them marked way down and you can also find them at other gear discounters such as Campmor, etc. The last pair of rain pants I got were $20-something and have zippers all the way up to make them easier to put on - I've also gotten less expensive ones without zippers or with zippers only on the bottom. Whatever style you get, they provide a great way to get outside in the rain without getting soaked.

I guess it comes down to motivation. I dont have wet weather hiking gear and I don't handle cold well. I love playing in the rain, though. Maybe I could just do a quick jog around the neighborhood. Thanks for the ideas! And actually after today's rain cleared up it looks like i might get to hike Wed afterall!

I just walk on the sidewalks or if it's raining hard, you can walk in a mall or multistory parking structure - around here, we have some lots that are 3-4+ levels and you can get in some good stair workout as well as going 'uphill' on the ramps. I'd MUCH MUCH MUCH rather hike, though, so I can 'feel your pain' - my hikes have been getting rained out the past couple of weeks, too!

Yeah, I guess it depends on your tolerance of getting wet, and your equipment, whether or not you let the rain interrupt your hiking. I will go to the gym, do a workout at home, go out in the rain (infrequent for me now), we skied in the snow the other day, but then being active in snow is better than rain, IMHO, since it doesn't soak in.

Hope you find your rainy day workout mojo!

We've been hiking in the rain.
I don't have a good weekend alternative really, other than the boring gym :)

What do you do instead? My hikes have been getting rained out lately and I've been going stir-crazy! I did yoga on Friday - it was alright. Was looking at the forecast to schedule a hike for next week and it doesn't look like Mother Nature is going to work with me just yet. Any more ideas?
