Funny - the wrist band idea was on Oprah the other day (I Tivo then watch later so I'm not sure what day). It is a purple band that says "A Complaint Free World" on it and a small church started the "movement." They give the bands away free and will even pay the shipping to send it to you for free. They will take donations but don't require one and claim that the project is to make the world a better and happier place, not to make money. So, I went to the web site last night and put in my order for wrist bands for everyone in my family. Here's the website - you can order some for yourself
They have been shipping these all over the world. When you get the band you are supposed to put it on one wrist and the minute you complain, you must move it to the other wrist. The object is to keep it on the same wrist for 21 days in a row without moving it because the "experts" say that it takes 21 days to form a new habit. They said that if you make yourself stop complaining, your brain will eventually quit forming the complaining dialogue.

That is a great idea! I want to go get a band right now. I find that I am fine until someone else starts griping and there I go! Teaching at a high school there is plenty of grumpiness to go around, which is sad because I love my job! I have been working on improving and I think the band will help. Thanks!
Lisa I saw something this week along the same idea. Put a band on your wrist, leave it on that wrist until you complain. When you realize you are complaining about something, you move the band to the other wrist. The goal, leaving the band on the same wrist for 21 days. When we complain, the negative thoughts are there-much like the DVD. So, if we learn not to complain, but see the opportunity or learn from the experiences the positve thoughts are retained. (Must say my band has move from wrist to wrist-but the pace is slowing.) Thank you for your insight. You are amazing and we are grateful.
