ARCTIC BREATH COILS THE MOUNTAIN, RATTLING THE FORESTS' BONES RAINDROPS CLING TO BRANCHES JEWELLED ADORNMENT FLING TO EARTH
It seems to me that just when you think everything is going smoothly, something comes along to put the metaphoracal spanner in the works.
My past couple of weeks have been like that, which is why I haven't posted. With one thing and another I've been pretty down & yes I admit it feeling sorry for myself.
Then I opened my book today, & lo & behold some insight!
We need those times of turbulance and distress, we need to know suffering, because as humans we NEED to overcome.
When things are going well it's easy to get complacent, get into a rut & just carry on our daily activities. When we are in distress we REALLY think about things. We work, we stand firm & we overcome.
In forebearance we find peace, see & the beauty around us. We reach out to our God(s) and invest in our activities. But just as calm comes before the storm, it also comes after, allowing us respite, peace & a chance to learn & grow.
Oh that we could live each day like that. Seeing the beauty around us & reflecting that back to those in need.
I challenge myself to that this week. To try to live each moment, each expression of myself, in beauty & love for others & myself.
WIND IN THE CAVE: MOVEMENT IN STILLNESS. POWER IN SILENCE.
When we meditate we become a hollow vessel or cave, hearing only the wind of our breath. As we descend deeper into the meditation we become aware of our heartbeat, our blood flow, the tingling of our cells. Our very stillness enables us to find the life within us.
Further into the meditation we find a movement of Spirit inside us. Cleansing us, clearing our blockages, enabling us.
The silence of our meditation empowers us, brings the power of the Spirit into our lives & enables us to spread that power to those around us.
View the moon as the spirit in our lives & the water as us & our emotions.
When the water is turbulent, , the reflection of the moon is fractured. When our emotions are stirred, we are angry or fixating on the past the Spirit cannot reflect fully within us. We receive disjointed images. We reflect disjointed Spirit.
When the water is smooth, the reflection of the moon on the water is clear and full. When we are focused & have cleared our 'baggage' the Spirit can reflect fully on us, & we can likewise reflect the Spirit onto others.
To sit in solitude can often be a difficult thing, especially if it is for a prolonged period of time, with no distractions.
By enforcing ourselves to sit in solitude & think, we can face our inner demons, clear our inner clutter & breath the full energy of our breath throughout our bodies. This naturally calms us & allows us to receive & reflect the Spirit.
MAKE THE CROOKED STRAIGHT, MAKE THE STRAIGHT FLOW, GATHER WATER, FIRE, AND LIGHT. BRING THE WORLD TO A SINGLE POINT
Sometimes our lives, as with our devotions become clogged with outside influences that literally detour us from the straight and narrow. By removing the obstacles in our way we straighten our path and allow our lives and the Spirit within our lives to flow with purpose and direction.
We gather water to cleanse and purify ourselves, to wash off the influences of the outside world and make ourselves ready to meet with out inner Spirit.
To gather fire is to become impassioned. This works both for our everyday lives and spiritual path. With passion we reach our daily goals, thus straightening our paths and allowing the Spirit to flow within our lives. With passion in our spiritual lives we come closer to knowing our spiritual identity and the Spirit of all.
The light is necessary to guide us along our path, to be able to see obstacles in advance and clear them away. The light of the Spirit also radiates within us, cleansing us and making us whole. This Spirit light can then radiate from us to allow our lives to become a blessing to those around us.
When we bring the world to a single point we are totally focussed on the moment. There is no past, it is gone and we cannot change that. The future is unknown to us, and again we cannot know the full extent of what is to come. To live in the single point of the moment is to truly live. Every second has clarity and purpose, anxiety dissipates and fears flow away.
WASHING AT DAWN: RINSE AWAY DREAMS. PROTECT THE GODS WITHIN, AND CLARIFY THE INNER SPIRIT
Purification starts all practice. First comes cleansing of the body, not to deny the body, but so that it may become refined, wholesome & conditioned. Once that cleansing has begun our search for the sense of the divine can be more open.
By rinsing away dreams, we not only wash away delusions & fantasies, but also anxieties & anything that is holding us back from achieving our goals. This is also a metaphor the ‘waking dreams’ we live, which constantly need to be washed away to keep us open.
It is believed that there are 36,000 gods & goddesses in the body. If we continually eat bad food, intoxicate ourselves, allow filth to accumulate inside & outside the body, then these deities abandon us in disgust. Your body is a temple, treat is as such & your spiritual goals will become clearer.
Once this goal has been achieved we must go beyond even these inner deities & find connection with the One or Universal Spirit – hence clarifying the inner spirit.
1 BEGINNING This is the moment of embarking, All auspicious signs are in place.
In the beginning, all things are hopeful. We prepare ourselves to start anew. Though we may be intent on the magnificent journey ahead, all things are contained in this first moment: our optimism, our faith, our resolution, our innocence.
In order to start, we must make a decision. This decision is a commitment of daily self-cultivation. We must make a strong connection to our inner selves. Outside matters are superfluous. Alone & naked, we negotiate all of Life’s travails. Therefore, we alone must make something of ourselves, transforming ourselves into the instruments for experiencing the deepest spiritual essence of life.
Once we make our decision, all things will come to us. Auspicious signs are not a superstition, but a confirmation. They are a response. It is said that if one chooses to pray to a rock with enough devotion, even that rock will come alive. In the same way, once we choose to commit ourselves to spiritual practice, even the mountains and valleys will reverberate to the sound of our purpose.
