Linus is a 4 y.o.black male and Sally is a 4 y.o. fawn female. Both are from puppy mills, Linus' mom was rescued before he was born, so he has always been spoiled, Sally was rescued when she was about 6 months old and was beaten on. They are only 2 months apart age wise, but have personalities light years apart.

I am proud to say I am owned by pugs emoticon

We have four pugs:
Jenny is black. She's going to be 11 years old in the spring so you can imagine that she's only about half-black now with a lot of grey.

Kurt is black and 8 years old
Carl is black and 7 years old
Gutenberg Cooper is fawn and 2 years old. She is still very much a puppy.

I have a fawn pug named Phoebe. She does have a darker coat because she does have a few black pugs in her bloodline. She is adorable!! :-)

She also has 3 cats for friends. Phoebe loves them but they don't love her back the same!

Phoebe is apricot, but I have to admit only her mother was a pug, and a fawn one. Her father was a black Japanese Chin and Pekingese mix. The grandfather Pekingese, named "Bully" for his under bite, which Phoebe inherited, was probably apricot. Phoebe's litter mate was black. I love genetics! emoticon

How weird that a black and fawn pug would have an apricot baby. Must be some recessive gene somewhere. I love her color. She is our little beauty queen. She is on the right in my profile pic

I guess apricot is not a common color for a pug. Her parents were definitely fawn and her 3 other litter mates were all black so I guess I got lucky :)

My girl is apricot also, so apricot it is almost startling. People ask if she is a full blooded pug. I don't know. We bought her sight unseen as a 1 year old, sort of a rescue. I did look at a website for smooth coated Brussel Griffons, and she is a spitting image of a BG so maybe there is a little of that in her

What a sweet name and story. Aren't pugs the greatest. I can't imagine living without them. We thought (for about 30 seconds) of being pugless, so we could travel and bike and whatever. Well that didn't work. We currently have 3 (only because DH says no more dogs). Pugs Happen!

I have a 3 year old black pug named Priscilla (named after the Rich's Pink Pig since they look so much alike). We call her The Priss for short, it started as a joke and just stuck. She also goes by Sassilla because she is SO SASSY. My first pug was a fawn named Maximus after The Gladiator. He died and after a week I had Priscilla because I just couldn't handle being without him. They have such big personalities for such a little dog! Best dogs in the world!

Halle Berry, that is so cute! My very first pug boy, Yoda, was a very affectionate playful guy, that is, until 10 months later when I got Luke (I had a Star Wars theme going on). I thought he would love another dog in the house so he wouldn't be alone, but for the rest of his 10 years, we always said "Yoda wanted to be an only child." That doesn't mean that Halle wants to be an only child, but sometimes these guys get set in their ways. If you want to get another one, I would do it and hope for the best. Perhaps a rescue dog that is a about her age, then you can see how she will react to him/her.

oops I just saw that you spell the name Haley, which is totally adorable also

I have a fawn pug named Haley Berry. Since we have no children she is our baby and is terribly spoiled. I really want to get her a playmate but she doesn't think she's a dog and can't stand other animals lol. We adopted her when she was 2 and now that she's 5 I think we've passed the point of being able to socialize her and train her to get along with another pug. Anyone have any ideas on this?

Thanks everyone for your kind words for Bogie and Bacall. Pug encephalitis is worth looking up on the internet. It is rare, but knowing about it can't hurt.

I have a funny story about Bacall. She was quite a, uh, how do I say this....farter. Her tummy turned everything to gas. My grandson, Nick, 6 years old, and I used to make a big deal about it, holding our noses and waving our hands and rolling our eyes. Now that she is in doggie heaven, when Nick might have a little flatulence we look at each other and say "That Bacall, she just flew through the room" and we carry on with our nose holding. It is too funny.

So sorry to hear about your two pugs. Couldn't even imagine. I got my black pug Panz because of the less shedding thing. I would have to say that he does shed an awful lot though, maybe not quite as much as my fawns but he is definitely no slouch in that department.

I have always wanted a black one too. I hear they shed a lot less. Fawns are double coated whereas black ones have a single coat so there is a lot less hair. I do love the black mask on the fawns though.

Yikes, I have never heard of pug encephalitis and I have had pugs for over 20 years. How awful. Though I ADORE the names! I may have to steal those from you. I can just see Daisy Mae snoozing with her cat buddy. Pets are great at adjusting to circumstances. I have 3 pugs, Riptyde, named by his first mom, Caity, renamed by us when we adopted her and Raymee, named by the shelter who rescued him. They get along great (most of the time: ) I have recently gone off the deep end over parakeets since hubby says no more dogs!

My Daisy Mae is a fawn Pug and is now an only Pug. I had two little Pugs from the same litter, a fawn and a black (parents were also a fawn and a black) named Bogie and Bacall. Bacall died at 7 months and Bogie at 3 1/2 years from pug encephalitis which is rather rare. I was devastated when Bacall died and worried that her littermate would also be affected. He was, but not until 3 1/2.

Daisy came in after Bacall died and she and Bogie were great together. She became a bit calmer (no one to chase) after he was gone but adjusted well. So, now it is Daisy and the two cats, Scooter and Sparkey. They have signed a tolerance clause, I guess, because they get along fine. Sparkey often sleeps with Daisy.

You know I think that is true. I have always thought that dogs are better off if they are not "only dogs," but my first pug, Yoda, was a different and happy dog when he was and only child. Soon as we got another little guy he turned into a curmudgeon. Oh well, now I have 3 and I would have 6 if DH let me. They do have some jealousy issues every once in a while.

I have a fawn girl right now named Pixie and we rescued another fawn girl that has since gone on to a forever home. I never had a pug or knew anyone with a pug before we got our Pixie and we are both totally addicted. We've thought about getting another but Pixie doesn't like to share us much so it would take a lot of searching for one that she gets along with. I would love a black pug though!

Hi Karen, nice to see you here! Sounds wonderful! My mother and I had 5 pugs, all fawn, between us at one time. It was a riot to see them tooling around! When I first got my pugs I would only wear khaki and black so I could match them. Now I wear mostly black because, well you know why!

We bought new living room furniture when we had our first pug (another fawn) and we specifically picked a light tan so it wouldn't show the dog hairs as bad!

When my mother-in-law was still alive, she had two pugs, a fawn and a black, her friend had a fawn and a black and my husband's brother had a fawn. She would pug sit for all of us while we worked. It was quite the zoo! I miss those days.

I've had 4 pugs total but never more than 2 at a time. It's usually 2 pugs and another breed or mix. Louise is my first black pug and my first female. I hadnt heard about the black pugs and less shedding but I'd have to say that Louise is not a bad shedder so that does sound right.

Hank our boxer on the other hand........yikes!!!! Looking at him you would never think he'd shed so much but it is constant. He is white with that coarse, short hair that works its way into the fibers of rugs and furniture unless it is vacuumed right away. If you ever wonder what I am doing at almost any part of the day make sure you picture a vacuum in my hand or nearby cause then you'd be pretty darn accurate!

But I love my puppy babies sooooooo very much that I'd vacuum and wipe muddy paws night and day if I had too! emoticon

They do don't they and they are all different. I have had 6 pugs in my life (3 right now) and my mother had two, and they were all different. I love the black ones, I hear they don't shed as much?

OMG, OMG, OMG!!! If I wasn't committed to rescuing older and special needs dogs, I would want one. Ok, I want one!!!!! Are they born knowing how to scratch for attention? My dogs will not leave me alone if I start scratching behind the ear or something.

Wow! Had never heard of, let alone seen a white one. Cute, cute but had to click away before I spent all night on Youtube looking at pug puppy videos.
