This Chit Chat thread is getting pretty long, so it would be a good idea to start a new one for the new month. If you started one monthly that would keep them from getting too long.

Maintaining.

Thanks Nellie and Barb. I don't watch BB but understand how it could become addictive. The cat is doing better. The vet gave her some super strength laxatone to get rid of the hairballs. I was giving her medication at home but what the vet gave her should do the trick. If she doesn't get better, we will have to take her back and they will check her kidney function.
Just hoping she will get better. I have medicine to give to her today so she will probably be hiding out under my bed again all day.

Hope you all have a very good weekend. Tomorrow is September 1st. I thought I would restart this thread every month. What do you all think? Let me know.

Sunny, good to see you, but sorry you're having to deal with rounds and rounds of the pain. I guess having "off again" instead of "on again" at times is a good thing, but it is discouraging when it shows up again. You have to believe there is progress happening. Hope the kitty gets better too... when it rains, as they say...

Sharon, I did watch last night and I thought Julie did an outstanding job with the exit interview... hope our latest evictee learns something from what she sees / hears of her own words. Meanwhile, Amanda holds the house in a reign of terror... I'd be scared of her if I were there, for sure, and I wish MacRae were clear of her!

Sorry everybody for the BB distraction, there... Sharon and I are addicts. LOL.

Have a good Holiday weekend, all!

I am sorry you have been worried. I wish I had something more positive to report but have been dealing with this pain again this week. Seems like I have seen the last of it and then I have another round. I passed on the Girl's Weekend away in Amish Country this weekend as I just didn't feel up to all that walking. I always look forward to it but feel like a made a good decision to stay home. I see the doctor again soon (9/12) and they said they may repeat the MRI to see if something else is going on. I am hoping that it gets better before the 12th and I am well on my way to recovery by then. I am living on Ibuprofen and I don't like that.

One of our Cats has an obstruction so headed to the vet shortly. I will check back in with you tomorrow and also get caught up on the e-mails.

Love to all. Sunny

I still can't believe Labor Day weekend is upon us already! Wasn't it just yesterday that I was excitedly planning a 4th of July party for Jeff's homecoming? This was a summer for the record books in terms of it flying by!

From what I hear, Sunny's surgery recovery was hampered by Rich's heart attack that same week, and as a result she's having a slower recovery process than anticipated. Let's continue to pray for her, as the doctors are now talking about the possibility of another MRI (and who knows what after!) if her pain continues. I sure do miss her here too!

Connie, have a great time up north! Will this be Lino's first time up? Is he nervous about starting school? The soccer game...was he a player or a spectator?

Barb, did you watch last night? I won't comment in case you haven't yet. Interesting!

Wishing you all a great weeekend! No special plans for us, but it'll be good to relax and hang around the house! Whatever you are doing, enjoy!

Everyone have a fantastic holiday weekend, I am heading to work and then onward north for the weekend. I will check in when I return. Anyone hear from Sunny? I hope and pray she is ok. It's not like her to be away for so long.
Be safe! Hugs to all. emoticon

Thanks for the update, Sharon! Glad your mom's had some good days... we have to hold on to the bright spots, for sure, thoughout a lifetime.

And congrats on your first client. Will keep my fingers crossed for future clients... be they the ones you interviewed or someone not yet on your horizon.

Connie, so glad you had a good reunion weekend with your DH's class.

Missing Sunny... I'll have to mosey over to her Spark page and hunt for her...

Anybody else? Hope everyone is just busy and having a happy active life!

Connie, sounds like a fun time at the reunion! John and I graduated together, so we have both made it to all our reunions (our class is a bunch of go-getters, and has had one every 5 years!) except the last one, 35. I hear it was really poorly attended, so I hope that doesn't discourage the planners for the 40-year in 2016. This past time they only invited through social media instead of doing a mail and phone invite, and let's face it.....some folks our age aren't as hip as we are, lol! For us it turned out to be when we were in Hawaii in 2011.

We are winding up a whale of a heat wave here. It's not been out of the 90's since last Saturday, but today it's low 90's, (Except when it climbed into the 100's) and tomorrow the high is "only" 88, before going back into the 90's for summer's last hurrah. I can't believe it's almost Labor Day already!

I have one daycare kid enrolled, to start next week, and I have interviewed with two other moms who have children almost exactly the same age (16 months) so I was hopeful I would get all three -- they would grow up together. However, I'm not sure about the two from yesterday -- one was a very young mother, and I think my rates may have scared her off; and the other has her child in a center right now, and is thinking about moving her into a home-based daycare. But she doesn't seem to be in any hurry, so back to the drawing board I think!

My mom has had some pretty good days this week, which always makes me hopeful that we'll be able to continue with our current arrangement. Of course, I'm waiting for the other shoe to drop again. But I'm trying to be thankful for the good days when they come.

Well! I this post has been all about me, me, me! How's everybody else doing?

You were right, Barb. We had a nice visit with Mikes old classmates. I got a "kick" out of watching my DH talking old times and sharing old memories with his old friends. And a nice crowd showed up, I was pleasantly surprised,
We are in the midst of a nice thunder/rain storm. Much needed. I have a few days off so hoping to get caught up around the house.
Enjoying Lino, he's been a fantastic kid to have around. Not one problem so far. emoticon He had his first high school soccer game this evening.
Where's Sunny? Has anyone heard from her lately? Sharon, ready to go with your daycare? How's your mom?
See you all in the morning.

Hope you and your DH have a great time at the reunion, Connie! People change a lot in 50 years... mostly we mellow and remember the good times over the ill, and forgive... a great healing and rejoicing and memory building time!

About the Fort Hood verdict: it snuck up on me. It was sort of a foregone conclusion, in that there has never been any doubt of who perpetrated the attack. No mistaken identity. Witnesses abounding. What was hard for those who have had to live through this is the back and forth, yo-yoing. I do not take any particular joy in the verdict. Nor will I celebrate the sentencing, however it comes out. A prayer for wisdom for the jurors in that phase, too: for the perception of martyrdom is not something I wish to confer on someone who has done such evil.

My prayers are for those most closely affected, as always. Whatever has happened with this trial and its outcome, they still have to live in their changed lives. Whether they FINALLY get awarded status as full Purple Heart recipients and get the associated benefits or not, going on with LIFE in a changed world is the common situation for all our service members.

Yes, it is hard to watch the news. And those of us with loved ones in uniform see the news differently from those who have no such connection. Lots of prayers coming from this house today.

And I have to go see your sunflowers, Connie. They always remind me of our Sunny, too, when I drive by a field that sports these cheerful blooms.

May you all have a peaceful, healthy day.

It really has been a busy week for all.....quiet on the boards. Hoping everybody is doing well!

Connie, I like your new profile pic. Very pretty, although I miss your smiling face! Hey, did you notice that my Twins took two of three from your Tigers this week? It didn't hurt the Tigers record any, but it was an incredible boost for the sagging Twins spirits, so thank you!

About the meet & greet....just about any weekend will work for me, so you guys decide and then just let me know!

I agree, the latest news is all very depressing and upsetting. Praying for the safety of our country and all our troops.

Have a wonderful weekend everybody!

Our Military Mamas seem very quiet this week, hoping all is well with everyone.
Barb, was watching the "Ft Hood" court news somewhat this week, at least that part is almost over. Very sad. Now more sad news about the chemical attacks in Syria. It hurts to watch the news these days.
Just posted a sunflower field on my profile that I drive by on my way home from work. I couldn't resist taking a pic. Of course I think of our Sunny when I see all the flowers.
Happy Weekend, everyone. Hugs.

I am thinking if I do join you ladies I MAY fly in. Quite a long drive from here. I am going to start checking out airline tickets, never know, might get one for a decent price. I saw one today for $159.00 round trip. cheaper then gas I would think. Any ideas when our meet might be? I know I have the last week of March and the first 10 days of April (Spring break) already planned. Any thoughts on dates yet?

Thanks for offering local advice, Sharon, that always helps!

And here we are at another Monday. Lit my candles, lifted my prayers for (among the rest) all our service members and their families.

Wanted to give the other pray-ers an update on Kelsey, by the way. She went HOME home last week! So, so completely grateful. The virus that attacked her heart, she was one of only 3 cases, nationwide, and so is a study subject. But for our part, we're just glad she's alive and recovered and able to go on with life.

With that... have a good week, all! It's my first full work week since the trip, so bracing myself, just a bit.

Yep, since it's in my own back yard, I can make just about any weekend work too! If you guys want to pick a date, I can start doing some research on what's going on around here that we might want to do or see! I can also scope out some hotel deals nearby MOA. I would have suggested Country Inn & Suites, the hotel where John used to work part time, but the new management is letting it go in so many ways, now that's the LAST one I would recommend, sadly.

It's a lovely day here....I hope for you all as well. Have a great weekend!

I will have to see when my DH and I are heading south for spring break, probably end of March, early April. I think it may be a great idea to join up with my favorite mamas emoticon I will do everything in my power to make this trip. Lino has a good friend that is staying near the the Mall of America (another student) so he might want to ride with me to MN and stay with his friend that night? emoticon

Patience is a tough lesson for sure Barb.

Any suggestions, Sharon, on the weekend? We usually stay at Holiday Inn Expresses but am open to any suggestions - just want to get us all in the same place. It would be great and so much fun. What do you think, Connie? Is late spring or early summer best for you?

Your day care will fill up in no time - I have faith of that.

Off to make a salad to go with dinner.

Love you all, Sunny

I hope y'all are serious about coming to MN next spring! It would be awesome!

Barb, I hope the work day passes painlessly and that you won't have to come in for OT this weekend.

Sunny, I'm glad you are Rich are both making progress. Keep taking good care, and come back to us full time when you are able. In the meantime spend what time you can with your Sparksisters, and know we miss you when you can't be with us! Love ya girlfriend!

Connie, enjoy your time up north introducing Lino to the beautiful area!

I'm working to keep up with my organizing and paperwork while I search for daycare clients. Not too much going on around here, but I like the peace. Wishing you all a good weekend!

Nope, Connie, I'm not headed back on Monday... I went back to work YESTERDAY already. And it is as nuts as when I left. But it at least didn't hit the total crazies until today. I had one day of illusion that things were hunky dory.

And I'm still living on leftover endorphins from the weekend!

Next Spring, Sunny? Pick a weekend, and let's plan around it. I really want you rested and recovered! p.s. So glad Rich is taking this wake up call seriously. You too. I counsel the toughest lesson of all: patience!

emoticon all and feel better so stopping by to say Hi. I have had a tough time. I think overdoing that first weekend after surgery really slowed down the recovery. Just when I would think I was on my way to recovery, I would have another disappointment. Also, I had problems with the pain medication so only taking Ibuprofen right now. I have been discouraged and feel bad that I haven't been around but I just haven't felt like it. It is ust crazy. I honestly thought I would have the surgery and be brand new in no time. I guess it is just going to take more time given my age (ugh).

Rich is doing amazing. He has lost 5#'s and is not giving me or anyone else a hard time about the Cardiac Rehab. He is scheduled to go 12 weeks so if he looses 5#s every two weeks, he is gonna be skinny. He really dodged the bullet (so to speak) and is very aware that he can not go back to his old habits. We have not had red meat since his heart attack which is good. We are taking Sis to St. Louis on Sunday for her check up angiogram on Monday. We will treat ourselves to a nice dinner out Sunday night.

I am doing my best to feel better by Sunday. I don't know how long we will have to walk once we get to the hospital but it is huge. Rich said if we have to use a wheel chair, we will. Can you see me frowning? I just hate that.

I saw Barb's post about a MM&P gathering at The Mall of America. I think it would be great to plan one for early next spring. What do you all think? That will give us all something to look forward to.

I am off to read some of the other posts. Love you all, Sunny

Not a problem, Sharon.
I have a couple more shifts at work this week and then taking Lino north for a couple of days, it's been forever since I have been up there. We have had some very chilly nights here, burr. but the weather should improve for some last of the season swimming.
I had a very good week, healthwise, and hope to continue on with my tracking. It always helps me when I do.
I hope you all have a fantastic Thursday! Barb, do you go back to work next Monday? Sunny, hope you and Rich are feeling better and better.

Hi everybody,

Yes, I did study German for 7 years. I was pretty fluent with the vocabulary but I did struggle with the "grammar" part of it. And sadly, I now remember barely anything nearly 40 years later. I guess it's either use it or lose it.

Barb, you know I'm up for a MM&P Spark Meet & Greet. Wouldn't it be great?

Connie, I'll try to match your 10 pounds. I've been far too lazy for far too long.

Hoping everybody is having a wonderful week!

I know when I took a German course that it was a difficult language because not only do the verbs change but the nouns change depending on where they are in the sentence.

Sounds like a fantastic trip, Barb! Good for you!!! You sure get around, don't you? emoticon
I just figured out that Lino is from Gottengen, Germany. He's tried to teach me a couple of words in German, Wow, it's very hard. Sharon, you speak German? A very difficult language.
Working all week but work will be slowing down soon. Then I have to stain my deck (huge) after the Labor Day weekend. so much to get done before snow flies again.
I have a new goal to lose 10 lbs, Back to tracking my foods and my exercising. Need to get serious! ttyl,

Sharon's right... I've been missing in action, but I'm back now. I was in the Wisconsin Dells... and OMG... anybody else been there? They dropped Orlando Florida's resort area in the middle of Wisconsin! I was somewhat overwhelmed!

But I got a lot of walking, and a little biking in... and had a BLAST as a "finish line" volunteer for ON2VICTORY's first 70.3 mile triathlon (that's a 1.2 mile swim, followed by a 56 mile bike ride, followed by a 13.1 mile half marathon on foot). He committed to do this race last Fall, and when I heard he'd chosen Wisconsin, I knew that was drivable within a day and I promised I'd see him across the finish line. As it turned out, I got to hang the medal around his neck, meet his wife and daughters, and share some good Spark philosophy in the process of the couple of days I was there. It was WELL worth the trip.

Which reminds me... weren't we going to do a MM&P get together at the Mall of the Americas or someplace "central"? I know, I know, there have been significant events in everyone's lives that have made this a huge challenge... but don't you think we should "make it happen" sometime?

Oh, and for this team, especially, you should know the announcer made it a huge point to promote support of the troops including the Coast Guard... and celebrated when it was a military guy or gal or a police or fire rescue worker crossing the finish line.

Now... to try to catch up and get myself back in a work frame of mind before Wednesday!

emoticon

Sharon, I am here getting ready to go to work this afternoon. I just came across one of Barb's blogs, she is amazing! I wish I had a third of her energy.
I am planning on taking Lino to a Tiger game, probably in a couple of weeks. He really doesn't know a whole lot about American's favorite sport so I guess I will have to show him. emoticon
I know you will do well with your child care, it will just take time. Soon you will be running, running, and more running.

Hi Team,

Not much going on here....I've started advertising for daycare clients now, but so far only one inquiry, and that was for temporary care. Hanging in there though....it's only been a few days.

Connie, I HAVE been following the ALC very closely, and can't help but notice how exciting the Tigers' season is! If it can't be me, I'm glad it's you. Will Leno get a chance to go to a baseball game?

Barb went on a road trip (I think Wisconsin?) to watch and volunteer at a Triathlon. I've been following her blogs...sounds like a good time!

The board has been pretty quiet lately -- how's everybody doing?

Sharon, have you seen my Tigers stats lately? emoticon I know it's early in the season but what a exciting season for Detroit! and Torii was a great attribute.
Went shopping with Lino today at the mall. Nothing like the Mall of America but he sure had a great time -seeing how large the malls are here in America. He is a sweetie so far.
Back to work all week and then next week too. Can you all believe that Labor Day weekend is almost here? emoticon Time flies!
Where did Barb go on vacation?

I am awaiting my son Jason's arrival. He flew to our W. WA airport from the Dominican Republic and was picked up by his sister Kristen. He had been planning on staying at her house, but she doesn't have the area ready for him yet, so he is coming here. I told her to get some vegetarian type food on their way here since I don't have much here for a vegetarian.

I am excited to see him and his dog Caspian, who is staying with me, will be overjoyed!

Sunny, that wonderful story was also on our local news. You are right, it did go viral. Great story!
We picked up Lino yesterday and when I get a chance I will post pics. He is a real sweetie. Very smart! We should have some interesting conversations here as he is planning a career in the political field. Yikes! I am sure we will learn a lot from one another. We took him to our favorite Mexican restaurant last night. He says that he hasn't had the opportunity before but he liked it and ate the whole plate. He spent Friday all day in Washington DC touring and he loved it. He's very excited to be here. So far so good.
Happy Sunday, everyone. I told Lino (who is very fit) that he can help me figure out some healthy meal plans for next week's menu to share and maybe go for some bike rides.

So sorry about my absence this week. I have had a Loooong week with the pain so have rested as much as possible. I went back to the Orthopedics' office on Tuesday to see one my the associates (my surgeon is on vacation) and he gave me reassurance it was doing well and there was no infection. He said that if there was any arthritis (which there was), then the surgery would cause a "flare up" and the pain I was having was from that not the surgery. Color me very sad! When we got home, I got to thinking that if the pain was in fact coming from the arthritis then heat would help more than ice. So after 3 days of rest and heat, I can say I am finally feeling almost back to normal. He also said it would take longer to heal at my age. Now, he could have gone all day without adding that!

When I made the Salsa chicken, I just put the chicken in the crock pot and covered it with a Jar of Pace Medium Salsa. I cooked it on high for a couple of hours then turned it down to low. If you put it on to cook before going to work, low all day should be just great. We loved it and had left overs the next day. It is great rice or on a multigrain wrap (which we are learning to love).

I wanted to share this with you all. It is something that happened locally and is going viral on the net. It is am amazing story and I hope you take time to watch the video.

Thanks, Linda. I feel blessed that Lino is coming here. I never dreamt that I would have a exchange student, never even thought about it. Life threw me a curve ball on this one, haha. We will be picking him up on Saturday evening. His room is all finished and ready to go,. Unfortunately I have a busy schedule at work for the next couple of weeks so I won't be involved with signing him up for school or sports but thankfully my DH is willing and happily so. Your website in wonderful! You will be hearing kid's laughter at your home before you know it!
How you feeling, Sunny? How's Rich?
Barb, enjoy your vacation! Are you going anywhere? I didn't see post if you are. Sad seeing court news on the shooting. Praying for all.
Everyone enjoy your evening. It's beautiful here in MI today!

Connie, you must be so excited! Leno is a lucky young man to have you as a host family. It's so nice that you will have these three weeks to show him around and take him up north. What an adventure you all are starting! I'm sorry to hear about the continued decline of your BIL though, and pray for peace for him.

Sunny, I've made the salsa chicken too, and it's a hit here as well. And so easy to make! Once in a while I'll see a Spark recipe that looks interesting, but then when I look more closely, it will have ingredients I don't have on hand, or just plain too many ingredients, or it'll be something that John wouldn't touch with a 10-foot pole -- but this one is a winner!

Just about everything is back in place now after the flooring fiasco. I have a few curtain rods I want to raise, and some shelving to go into Jeff's closet to house the board games to make them more accessible to the older children. I'm ready to go! The website is far enough along that I can give it out to potential clients, and I'm finally able to advertise. I surely hope it doesn't take too long!

It's a gloomy day here....I'm almost (ALMOST) convinced that summer is over! What a strange, strange year. I guess we were lucky that the 3 weeks that Jeff was here were the nicest 3 weeks of the season. As soon as he left it got chilly and damp, but we had sunny 80-degree days the whole time he was here! Guess he took the sunshine back to Hawaii with him!

Sunny, you probably already posted which salsa recipe you made but can you post again?
Sounds delicious. I have chicken breasts in my freezer and think I just might have to take them out. I have gained a couple more lbs and REALLY need to turn that around or I will be back where I started. Back to square one.....
Only a few more days and we will have Leno our exchange student here. His room is just about ready. I hope he's happy here with us "old folks" and meets plenty of friends. He is here on different grants because he worked very hard in school in Germany to get here. We have about 3 weeks before school starts and so Mike and I plan on taking him to Mackinaw (up north between peninsulas of MI) and camping at our place north. This weather better clear up. Its been kind of cloudy this past week, or two! I can't wait to take him grocery shopping to see what sort of foods he likes to eat, hope it's healthy!
My BIL (pancreatic cancer) fell a few days ago and he broke his wrist. He thinks he broke his back too. He's only 108 lbs now and declining. He can't lay down so he sits in his chair most of the time and sleeps. Bless his heart.
I hope you all have a great Tuesday!! Will be checking in later,.

No military wedding. Whatever they plan, it will be perfect for them.

Heavy fog here this morning and so thankful I am not out on the roads. Praying for those that are as there is limited visibility.

We have been under a rain advisory for several days but still not rain and we could use some.

The Salsa Chicken was so good! DH just raved about it. Score one for me.

Take care and have a great day.

So exciting, Nellie. Do you think they will have a military wedding? I always think they are so beautiful and so moving.

Sharon - I saw the website. Woohoo , It looks great. I know it is still under construction but so far, so good!

Our refrigerator is dying a slow death so we found one we really liked at Lowes and a friend who is in the business is getting it for us along with a new stove (5 burners) and a convection oven. I told DH if he could get it for us at the same price Lowes is offering then we will get it from him. He matched the price so we are buying them from him. He called Frigidaire today to order them and they will be here around the 14th so hopefully, the refrigerator will make it until then.

Rich and I are both doing better. I am still having pain so still using ice at times. I think it helps so will keep doing so. I just need to be more patient. The pain that I had before the surgery is gone so that is a very good thing. Rich starts Cardiac Rehab on Wednesday. He is OK with everything but the "low fat/low sodium diet" so we are learning together how to put flavor into foods without salt or oils. Today I am fixing the Salsa Chicken recipe from Spark People and
baked rice. We will have that with a nice mixed salad.

Take care and have a great week.

I love you all! Sunny

Sunny, you are NOT letting anyone down when you take the time to properly recover! That's job ONE right now... get Sunny back to where Sunny needs to be. Still your thought about sitting out a round might take some pressure off YOU. Keeping you and Rich in prayer as he goes through Cardiac rehab.

Connie, sounds like you had enough activity and it was time for some "down" time.

Sharon, great progress. Hope you get those "finishing touches" done and can start building your client list! Doing what you love does not eliminate the amount of work... but it does make it more meaningful. Meantime, we have BB to distract us.

Monday morning candles lit... prayers for our service members lifted.

Weddings are really an exciting time. Be sure to enjoy every minute, Nellie! Is the fiancee active duty? Where is he stationed?

Sunny, don't you dare think you've let anybody down. Your Biggest Loser team would feel awful if they knew you felt that way! Relax and both you and Rich can enjoy some down time, even if it wasn't exactly planned.

Congratulations, Nellie. I think the dress would need to be resized for the new you! How about a new dress for the new you? When is the wedding? So exciting.

Connie, I know you will love having the foreign exchange student and how exciting that in 5 more months, Joel and his family will be home.

Sharon, sounds like you have been very busy. Would you please e-mail me the link for the day care so I can go check it out. When will you be open?

We are doing great. It has been a great week and we both are well on our way to recovery. DH will start Cardiac Rehab this week. I saw the Surgeon on Tuesday and he says I must have more patience with the recovery process. He didn't think I had damaged the knee and I will see him again in 6 weeks. If I am still having some problems, he will give me a steroid shot.

I feel like I really let my Biggest Looser Team down and don't think I will sign up for the next challenge. emoticon

Take care and I will be back with you more this week.

Good Morning, Team!

Barb, I so agree with you regarding the weather. If I didn't know better, I'd swear it was late September! Mid-fifties so far today, but it is supposed to turn into another nice day later, mid-seventies and sunny.

Sunny, I know you've got your hands full....but I hope Rich continues to do well and that your knee is getting stronger every day!

Connie, this is going to be such an exciting year for you with your exchange student. I can't wait to hear the stories that are sure to follow!

We are coming along with the laminate installation in the lower level....our bedroom is done except a tiny bit of trim that was out of stock, and Jeff's room will be done in about an hour, except for the trim. This afternoon we'll be going to another Menards hoping the trim we need will be in stock there. If all goes well I'll be moving furniture back in tonight. Then I'm FINALLY ready to start looking for clients. My website is coming along too....check it out if you're so inclined; otherwise I'll let you know when it's complete!

Sending Sunday blessings to you all! Have a great week.

Connie, I can't believe how Fall-like the weather is acting the past few days. Between the crickets and the clouds and the cooler temps and the breezes, it makes me realize that Summer is nearly gone! How did that HAPPEN??

So glad your Joel will be closer to you, and really looking forward to hearing your new adventures with your exchange student.

Patiently waiting to hear Sunny's news, too, and keeping them in my prayers. My neighbor just got home from having a kidney transplant, and he's looking much better... his wife looks so relieved!

Everyone, may Sunday be a blessed one for you and yours, wherever you / they are. My own thoughts are turned in the direction of Ft. Hood, of course, this week, where many people I personally know will be once again mounting a witness stand and trying to bring what started nearly 5 years ago now to its next phase of closure. What a long road THAT has been... extra prayers for all of these dear people, too.

Good morning, everyone. Happy Sunday!
I spoke with Joel on Friday night and he and his family are beginning to prepare for their move back home to W Virginia, Jan 3. from Guam. They will fly here to MI first and then head to their new post after visiting here. I am getting so excited as this will make it so much easier to see them. They will be stationed there for two years. That will put Joel on the 10 year mark with Navy so from there he has to decide if he wants to rejoin.
Our exchange student will be here next Saturday. I met him through Skype, along with his mother, and I have a great feeling about all this. I wasn't sure if I should commit myself but as time moves forward I am feeling better and better about it.
Sunny, how is your knee? husband? Barb, I see you have a blog so I am heading over there shortly. (Love your blogs!) Sharon, any news with your new day care? School will be starting here in about a month? Is it warming up there? Wilma? how are you? Will check in later on you all. Hugs.

Good Morning, Lino is from Friedland, Germany. Thank goodness he speaks English. I have been getting emails from him and we plan on skyping on Friday, along with my DH. My DH is also very German so he is excited as well to have him around. I think this will very well be a good experience for all.
Barb, I didn't congratulate you on your run Sunday. I hope you realize how proud you make this team! emoticon
Sunny, Happy about Rich and his progress! Now we just need to get you back on track with your knee. I am looking forward to another challenge with you!
Sharon, it's a rainy day here, but warming up. I am off to work a mid shift at work today. Hoping tomorrow will be sunny and warm as I have Thurs off.
Everyone, have a great "hump day" and keep Sparking!

Just stopping by to say Hi. How exciting Connie. Where is he from in Germany?

DH is doing amazing. Thank you all for your love, support and prayers.

I see the surgeon for follow up tomorrow so will know if it is indeed the Baker's cyst that is giving me problems.

So happy for Kelsey. She is indeed a miracle. Therapy is a lot of hard work and I would imagine she is weak from all the time she spent in ICU. So happy for not only her but her entire family.

Way to go Barb on your run. So proud of you!

Sharon, I hope to get by your website today.

Hugs, Sunny

What fun, Connie! My cousin hosted an exchange student while his own kids were in high school... boy, did they have a houseful!

Ich spreche ein bisschen Deutsch, would LOVE to have a German student to practice / brush up with!

Best wishes and prayers for Sunny and Rich.

Sharon... how's the publicity / recruiting going for day care? I hope you get some really good kids... ran into a gal here who's having difficulty finding the right care for her kids... too bad you're two states away!

I went to work today and was very glad to see the Mandatory OT lifted... opted to come home on time, because I'm still moving a bit gently. I think part of it is this crazy weather we're having.

Happy Tuesday/Wednesday everybody!

Connie, how exciting! Just what the empty nest needs, right? I had a friend from work who did that. He and his wife were in their late 60's and had never had kids of their own, so it was quite a different thing for them, but it turned out great. Be sure to keep us posted!

Sunny, I hope you are able to check in soon with an update on your progress as well as Rich's. Until then, know we're thinking about you.

Barb, I hope you are feeling up to par today and ready to hit the floor running!

Happy Tuesday everybody!

Happy Tuesday, Everyone. Hoping the best for all today.
Working tons this week but have next week off. My DH and I decided to host a exchange student this year, our first ever. Lino is from Germany and he will be landing here on the 10th of Aug. He is 16 years old and does speak English. He loves to run and play sports. I have plenty to do to get his room ready, empty drawers, closets, etc. before he gets here. I am excited though. This should be a interesting endeavor and of course, I will be keeping you all up on this.
Sunny, how is Rich? and your knee? Don't overdo, ok?
Barb, amazing that Kelsey is amidst PT. Amen to that.
Sharon, ready or not school is right around the corner. haha. I bet you are getting so excited!

Wow, Sunny... 3 stents! Glad they caught it now. You probably already know all the right things to do to take care of the heart. But while thinking about that, you need to also take good care of that knee of yours. Never rains, huh?

Sharon, Kelsey posted on her FB today that therapy is kicking her *$$. But I'm so glad to see her posting, able to post, for herself. She is on the road to recovery.

Resilience, for ALL of us! That's today's prayer.
