At 2.5 grains of Armour I was still under-treated, and really struggling with depression. With a raise to 3 grains the depression magically disappeared even though I was still struggling with the same issues. Being hypothyroid does bring depression.

No.. its just that, well... I worry about you guys when you aren't doing well or are having problems. Corny but true. So when I see someone having a success... its a bright spot on my day even though it has nothing to do with me specifically.

Its kinda like seeing/smelling a beautiful rose bush in bloom!

Really well!

She upped my Meds and is going to check me again in two weeks to see if I need to be raised again. She said at first she was concerned I was feeling awful based off my numbers and just not saying anything to her, but when she saw how much happier I was she said it put her at ease that the Meds were actually working. She had some really interesting things to say about why my blood work was so different compared to being on levo.

My doctors were seriously undertreating me with levo, and my TSH was kept at least 4. WAY TOO HIGH. Against their wishes, when I was told by endo that if I didn't have a 'suppressed' TSH that I would develop thyroid cancer, well, I went and found someone to prescribe Armour. I gradually worked (myself) up to 3 grains, and probably could still use some more, because even though my TSH is .01, my FT4 and FT3 are still low. From what I read in the book, "Stop The Thyroid Madness" it is more important to go by the Frees and how you are feeling than TSH, and that there are many people whose TSH is extremely suppressed, to the level of .004.

I think doctors are extremely predjudiced against Armour, and will use any and all reasons to push a patient back on synthetic T4 meds. Personally, i would never go back on synthetic T4 only meds.

Good to hear, Lins!

Purrballs, one of the other Team Leaders is on something like 5-6 grains...she'll have to tell you herself... she's been super busy so we don't get to hear from her as often as we'd like.

Once again... she's NOT you, I'm simply offering that up as an example.

Best with your appointment...
Go get 'em!

Good Morning, Lins~

Its fairly common if what I've read here on the forum is any indication.
With Armour the T4 isn't as high in the Free T profile, as it is when you take Levothyroxines(T4) so Armour Gals usually have to take more to get it there.

In any case its not what others need, its about what you need as an individual.
Others serve solely as a reference point.
Plus you're special cuz you have beta-thalessemia.

Hopefully some team members will chime in with their experiences.
Lets here your voices, Team!

Has anyone that switched from levo to armour discovered that they needed a higher dose of armour in comparison to their levo?

For example I was on .2 levo and right now I am on 150mg of Armour and could probably even use a bump :)

My doctor is telling me this is not normal and wants me to go off the armour and switch back to levo, but I find for the most part I feel better on armour.

Just curious out there if anyone had the same experience?
