My doctors were seriously undertreating me with levo, and my TSH was kept at least 4. WAY TOO HIGH. Against their wishes, when I was told by endo that if I didn't have a 'suppressed' TSH that I would develop thyroid cancer, well, I went and found someone to prescribe Armour. I gradually worked (myself) up to 3 grains, and probably could still use some more, because even though my TSH is .01, my FT4 and FT3 are still low. From what I read in the book, "Stop The Thyroid Madness" it is more important to go by the Frees and how you are feeling than TSH, and that there are many people whose TSH is extremely suppressed, to the level of .004.
I think doctors are extremely predjudiced against Armour, and will use any and all reasons to push a patient back on synthetic T4 meds. Personally, i would never go back on synthetic T4 only meds.
Live amazingly every day of your life, for you never know which one will be your last.
