I really appreciate the replies!! My doc has suggested that as soon as I find out what's available overseas to try it out for 4 to 6 weeks here in the states first, then have my levels checked. After so many years of being "stable" I almost dread a change in meds.

My doc can only give a prescription for a maximum of 6 months...I'm still workin' on at least a years worth.

Thanks again for all the advice!! Hopefully there's someone from the Middle East that will reply as well with more info.

Hi in sunny South Africa I take Euthyrox which I understand is close to Synthyroid. We don't get Armour here or any other which my doc will prescribe.

A suggestion should you have to travel there for an extended period of time, is to ask your doctor for a prescription and fill it for the entire year... take your pills with you.

I get my pills in jars of 100, and split the pills, taking half to get my dose which makes a bottle of 100 pills last for 200 days. The other advantage to buying in multiples of 100 is that those pills do not contain any dye.

I pay out of pocket as my insurance won't pay for lots of 100 pills.
Synthroid ran about $90 per hundred pills last time I bought it.

I know this doesn't answer your question, but it might serve as a workaround in case no one here can provide an answer. Another resource might be your pharmacy. Ask them... pharmacists are very knowledgeable.

Hi Everyone!
I take Synthroid 100 mcg in the US and was wondering if Synthroid is available overseas. Specifically if it is available in Morocco or even further to the east, the Middle East? Does anyone know of the brand name thyroid drugs that are available in these areas? Just checking options for future travel overseas. Also, what is closest to Synthroid in formulation?
