Were they able to determine more details about the body that was found? I wouldn't assume it was Sherri until they could tell the gender or how tall the person was.

I'd like to know what Susan Clarkson had to say, and more importantly, why she didn't tell the authorities that she'd been the last person to see her that nite.

I wonder if she was the person who gave her the ride to the River.

Message at the candle vigil tonight. As of 3 this afternoon the case has been given to the county sheriff and will be started all over from scratch!

Still no evidence....and I get to search the river this weekend. :/ Hoping we don't find her body but at least I'll be doing SOMETHING to help.

Ok, this town has a committee now for this. They are producing new fliers with more information and correct information and getting them in all the local towns with some folks scheduled to give them out to river people at all the boat ramps over the weekend and other pertinent places. They found out the cops have refused help from both counties sheriff's offices and are only looking every other day now. Like that helps in a missing person's case! They are having a candle vigil tomorrow night, they've organized a search team to start with the fields closest to her home and hand to hand cover it searching them- move into the woods around there after that. Ron and I are on river search sunday. A week to 10 days is about the time a body would surface based on her weight and the water temps. Logjambs are our priority to search. I'm not looking forward to that but at this point it's better than sitting around doing nothing other than wring our hands and say how horrid it is.

They have video of her at the gas station at 2 am where she was chipper as can be. And she was missing 6.5 hrs later.

There were 150 people at that meeting at least and more sent messages they would help but couldn't attend.

Ok, people in town are fed up with cops not doing their job (none of them are on any search all day long...the co-workers of Sherri know this because they can see the station and know all of the cops) and have organized a town meeting at the school tonight at 7. Will try to post any results.

It doesn't sound good, particularly in light of the man missing in roughly the same area.
I'm curious if there are any commonalities between your friend and the male victim you mentioned in one of your posts, Purr.

I'm pretty sure the Police have thought of this angle already... something to remember about the Polices is that... they don't always share everything they know, who they are investigating or their leads... as sharing info with the public can compromise the case.

So it may look from the outside, as if they aren't doing anything, when in fact they are.
If you'd like to move this along, or if she hasn't been found in a few months, you may want to contact the TV show Missing Persons.

So sorry to hear about this...

Thank you for the link. It sounds like the police and media is interested in finding her. She is a kind person who helps many so she may have invited someone into her home. The notes and marks near the river are unsettling, but she could have escaped and is hiding. This is very sad. I'm praying for her, you and all the people in your area who are looking for her to return safely.

I checked the news site. This is such a horrible and uneasy mystery -- I hope in the cosmos she is aware of how many people are thinking about her. It seems that she was very much appreciated. This is so weird. I hope the community can give each other support and that some resolution helps to restore safety.

If she was forced to the river or even went there intentionally, there would be a body somewhere. Bodies don't just disappear, like that. Did she have any enemies? I would think not. If someone wanted to do her harm, they would have took her someplace rather than force her to go into a river. The whole thing sounds so bizarre. How did the cops know to go to the river that was 5 miles away, too. That just doesn't make any sense to me. I probably shouldn't be talking like this but it is just too unreal. I can imagine how frustrated you must be feeling. If there is no body, then she could still be out there, somewhere. We need to keep hope alive and keep praying.

The only news is the release of information that she left a not detailing what she planned. They did not say what that entailed. Nothing at all is missing and no credit cards anyway but her debit card is in the care of the police along with her cell. The cops do think someone helped her get to the river since there is no way she could have walked. I sincerely doubt anyone would help her if they knew what she was planning. They have said they found footsteps consistent with her gait at the river along with an area that looks like someone crawled. I would say more like someone did something to her and forced her to write a note. I mean if you have enough wherewithal to do this you certainly wouldn't crawl into the river. They agree..they know her and she couldn't walk the 5-6 miles from her house to get there.

Please try to stay positive even though it's not looking like this will have a good end. It's true that it's best when a missing person is found quickly, but remember that Jaycee Lee Dugard was kidnapped for 18 years. I'm sending prayers and positive thoughts.

This is a good reminder to all of us. Don't be too trusting of strangers. I'm guilty of feeling too comfortable in my area and don't always do all I should for personal safety.

Still nothing. It's on the news still but no leads. Her cell phones is with the cops and they are answering it.

Sherri was entirely too trusting of everyone. I doubt she even locked her doors because noone in this town did before! Durn hardware store had a run on new locks today! Her coworkers had fliers printed up the next day. I asked if anyone took them to other nearby towns so that was the next step.

It's just not looking like this will have a good end.

I'm very sorry to hear about your friend, Purr. What about messages on her cell phone? Why was her cell phone left? People usually take their cell phones along with them. It doesn't sound good, especially with the other guy missing in the same area. One has to wonder what goes through the cops' heads. Remember Jaycee and 60 visits to her house. A neighbor called about little girls in the back of the house and someone went out to investigate and never bothered to check the back of the house out! Then, there are the unprofessionals like the two women security guards on campus who noticed something different about the perpetrator, noticed there was something not quite right about the girls with him and their experience, coupled with their motherly instincts, prompted them to check out this guy's name on the computer. BINGO! He turned out to be a sex offender and their diligence got him and his wife put away. All it takes, sometimes, is a little caring and bit of extra, even normal amount of effort. I wonder if the police, in general, don't get burnt out and stop trying after awhile. What the heck!! I hope and pray there's a happy ending to your friend's disappearance. It's possible, still.

I’m praying that your friend is safe and found soon. Try not too be critical of the police. They jumped to a wrong conclusion when they found the shoe, but they were trying to find her. It’s hard to know where to search when there are no clues. Is the media still talking about her? Maybe you, her co-workers and other friends can ask them to do stories to keep public interest in finding her. Another idea is making posters with her photo and description and asking to put them in store windows. Maybe organize an outdoor candlelight service for the public, possibly with the family and friends of the missing man to show a possible connection. This is extremely hard on you emotionally. You might consider talking to a minster or counselor for guidance. You need to continue healthy routines as much as possible. We are here for you. Please post your feelings and updates on your friend.

I am so sorry! It must be hard enough that she is missing....I can't even imagine the frustration you have for the way the authorities are going about things. I am hoping she got a wild hair to go somewhere and realized that since she didn't have mom to take care of that she had the freedom to go. Should that be the case, she will need "an education" when she gets back.

The police protocol for a missing, healthy adult does require that they be missing for some time because they could have taken action on their own. The protocol changes for children, elderly and handicapped.

Keep sending out cosmic messages and take excellent care of yourself while waiting to find out the truth of this situation

I have a friend who is missing. The facts are this.

Sherri's mother died a year ago. She has been getting the estate settled and moving on with life after taking care of her mother her entire life.

When her mother died she was okay with it saying she knew she would see her mother again someday. I talked with her on Wednesday and she was excited because she was selling her Mom's house and getting her own apartment as well as possibly getting a new job. The last anyone talked to her was Thursday night around 11:00 o'clock. On Friday she didn't show up at work and they got concerned. Her car is at her home, as is her cell phone. She has trouble walking and gets out of breath easily. But the stupid cops in this town think she walked five miles to the river and walked in!

Okay you have a woman who lives alone, is pushing fifty, and has no family and the only thing they can think is that she killed herself? She was just getting things into place! She was happy about things. She was the most dependable person around. I don't understand their thinking. At first they thought they had found her shoes down at the river but someone else said they forgot theirs down there and they picked them up. They weren't even the right size for Sherri! They hadn't bothered to check first before broadcasting this?

Personally, I think the cops around here just don't want to be bothered. All her things are still at home. Her mother had left enough pills from an illness that she could have offed herself easily at home. What's wrong with this town that they don't even want to look for her? Meanwhile we have a woman missing with no indication of what happened to her. This is scary stuff.

From now on when I'm getting in and out of the boat I'm going to be on the phone with my husband or someone!

Oh, and last week a man across the river became missing with no clue where he was either! This is literally less than 20-30 miles from here. And no one sees any coincidence?
