There sure is a national shortage. I've had to switch to generic Levothyroxine from Levoxyl and I feel awful, even on the same exact dosage. I have brain fog and my hair is falling out. They say they'll check my lab levels in 6 weeks, but it's going to be a long 6 weeks as I can barely remember my name. It's crazy how there is such a big difference between generic and name brand thyroid medications. I'm a true believer in generics for almost all other medications, but not this one!

Hey guys, is anyone else worried about the Levoxyl shortage? I'm being told that it isn't being produced anymore, or if it is, it's had a major recall.
My Endo has been talking to me about the Levoxyl interchangeability with Synthroid and Armour Thyroid. Anybody else had any experience with these? prefer one over the other? Is my doc full of crap? I just need a little guidance here, because I'm starting to freak out a little. I feel like I've finally got things under control again with Levoxyl, and I don't want to have to suffer any more while my body adjusts to a new drug.
Here in east central IL I have not had any issues with getting a dual prescription (88 and 100) of levoxyl from our local walgreens. The only time I've had any issue was when the drs ofc forgot to mark levoxyl only and they tried to substitute, but we dealt with that there and it is supposed to be in my walgreens record now. I've used other brands over the years and have been on levoxyl for years now and very satisfied, comparatively speaking.
When I was on it I never had a problem with it. Seems to me that Walgreens has some serious problems with their pharms telling ppl that they don't carry some meds. This isn't the first time I have heard Walgreens say something along these lines. Do you have a CVS near you?

i am on levoxyl 100, so maybe it's your higher dosage level that is not generally in stock? also, can you check other pharmacies? are you allowed to transfer your prescription to another place? i am not; that's why i ask. duane reade (nyc) has never had a problem filling mine.
sorry for your troubles and good luck!!

I spent the entire morning on the phone with pharmacies finding out if they had levoxyl 137mcg in stock. Sam and Costco were out as were other pharmacies. Costco pharmacist was aware that getting Armour is problematic, but never had a problem getting levoxyl until now. A check at Costco showed they had none in stock either.
I am ticked at Sam's Club Pharmacy for saying my ins would not allow them to refill my RX when the real reason they did not refill it is b/c no Sam's Club or Walmart pharmacy had my medication in stock or could get any. Sam waited until I took my last pill this morning to tell me this after several calls to their pharmacy.
I have been frantically calling pharmacies all morning and finally found one that has 20 tablets and said they could get the remainder of my 90 day supply in a few days. I hope they are not pulling my leg too.
Did anyone else have a problem getting levoxyl?
