I was cruising through the board here and found this thread where several members talked about goals. How has everyone been doing with these goals? Iíve been doing well with my fruits and veggies and drinking water. I havenít been as active as Iíd like to be and I plan to do more exercise. How is everyone else doing? Itís okay if you havenít been keeping up. Time to renew your goals if you havenít been doing so well. How are you guys looking?

I used to do this back in high school when I was playing sports. This really does work. Just make sure that you do not drink it all at once, or even large drinks at a time, because you will be running to the bathroom all day.

I stayed on top of my eating all weekend, even though it was drill weekend. Usually, I will spend the day without eating and then I go home and pig out all night, this time I did not let that happen.

I did set a goal for myself this week and that was to burn 3500 calories (equal to one pound) and I managed to reach that goal today, with days to spare.

How about a physical goal, like a certain number of ABS exercises in a week, or walking goals... Every little bit helps to achieve the ultimate goal of getting healthy and losing weight...

I joined the team's water drinking goal today, and it got me to thinking. Iím a big water drinker anyhow. Thatís about all I have been drinking these days. I rarely drink anything else. Occasionally I'll have some tea, but most of the time, it's just plain water for me.

Problem is, I can't stay out of the bathroom. I eat plenty of fruits and veggies as it is (which is pretty much water-logged). Then, with the 8-10 (or more) glasses of water I drink everyday, I'm 'going' pretty regularly. Doc tells me that it's normal and I can only hold so much liquid before I have to go to the bathroom. But sometimes, it sure is inconvenient going to the john all the time.

Do any of you have that problem?

WILL you make some good point! I think setting goals like drinking 8 cups of water a day minimum is an obtainable goal. Since we are in the middle of the month, do you guys want to start something next month or in the upcoming week. Maybe we can start a post where we can post tips, track and give encouragement to one another.

Well 8 cups is the base guideline. So if you're standing still all day then you should drink 8 cups. If you're exercising then that number needs to go up so shooting for 10 cups a day is smart. Me, I drink between 10 and 12 cups but the bathroom is about 20 yards away.

I was thinking of goals in terms of the active things that we do, such as drinking x number of glasses of water, or eating x number of fruits or veggies every day, getting at least 500 minutes or 600 minutes of exercise per month (thatís like 3-4 days a week at 60 minutes each day).

I think having goals like these are much more attainable than a goal of losing a certain number of pounds. Just my thoughts.

Thanks brotha for the suggestion. What are some goals do you think we should focus on for this team?

One idea that pop in my head was a monthly weight loss challenge as a team. I think we should try and set a goal a month for the amount of weight we should lose together as a team. We can start in July and set a goal for like 30 pounds together as a team. We have 30 members and I think about half of us are active members. What do you guys think?

Thanks for replying. I just noticed that there are no goals listed in our team's page. Getting a goal may help us bond more and give us more motivation on our weight loss journey.

I think drinking 10 cups of water is good. The general recommendation is for 8, but thatís just an estimate. If you are someone who walks a lot and exercises a lot or perspires a lot, drinking the 8 may not be enough. Water is great for people trying to lose weight. When you begin to cut back on calories, you are bound to feel a lack of energy. Drinking water can help with that. It can also help you feel more full so you donít eat lots of junk Like you said, it definitely can improve the way you feel throughout the day.

Hey Brothers,

What do ya think of a 10-cups of water per day goal? I have been doing that this week. It makes a difference on how you feel throughout the day. Also, water helps weight loss.
