Rolland, you don't recognize anything because they're talking about South Jersey memories - I believe you're from Somerset?
I grew up in Palmyra and I know exactly what you're talking about. It took me years up here in Hunterdon County to find somebody that makes a REAL Philly cheesesteak (One of my strongest addictions!). Made the mistake of believing "the Philly Cheesesteak" sandwich on the menu was the real thing one too many times (the ones on the Seaside boardwalk are the raunchiest "pretenders" - YUCK!) Then I learned to either ask them to describe it or only go to the one or two places I KNEW they had the real deal.
There used to be a Palumbo's in Cinnaminson and I used to get a WHOLE cheesesteak with onions, mushrooms, and tomato sauce - OMG I can still taste it - best thing on the earth. . .

Roast beef? Thinl slices of fried steak, melting cheese, carmelized onions, ketchup. Oops, forgot that I was a vegetarian for a moment. lol The Eagles, as the Flyers, always start out the season so well but then as they come to the quarter/semi-finals they mess up. I go to cnn to catch up with all the sporting news since here in England football means soccer.

I was at a business meeting in Indiana and they served imitation Philly cheesesteaks... Sliced roast beef with melted cheese is a roast beef sandwich not a cheesesteak!!
I miss Ginos!

Duffys is famous for their chocolate candies and old fashioned candy such as wax lips, the little wax bottles with cool aid inside, candy cigarettes, potatoes, candy buttons on paper strips, etc.
Their best item is the coconut cream Easter eggs they sell around that holiday!

Thanks for the explanation.
I've never heard of Duffy's.
If I wanted to be really local I would mention Gene London, Pixanne, Sally Starr and Chief Hafttown. lol

Another memory is Duffy's chocolates in Gloucester City.

"around-the-block-and-back guys"
I've heard that so many times but what does it mean?

Hi All!
I was born in Philly, lived 40 years in South Jersey and now I live in South Louisiana.
I miss Siver Queen sweet corn just coming out of the fields on a wooden cart. I miss Diner food from Ponzios and Olgas.
I miss going down to the shore.
Jersey tomatoes, the Eagles, the great Italian restaurants and so on and so on.
Been on the Spark highway since last August and loving it all the way to today. Will go on loving it for the rest of my life.
