I too remind myself of this when the scale doesn't move.

took 2 solid months to lose 5 pounds...................... sadly I know just a few days of not eating right can reverse that.

Yesterday was my weigh in day. Because of my cold I show a gain...but I snuck another look this morning and I was down. I'm not going to cheat so, I officially charted saturdays weight.

Sat: 205.4 Up 2.4 pounds

Sun: 203.8 Up .8 pounds
Feeling much beter, so, getting back on track today with my exercises. Happy St. Patricks' Day Everyone!!!

well - I have been power walking a 5k everyday and eating properly........... emoticon and wouldnt ya know it ------------ that scale said 135 this morning. A full 5 pounds down from my highest bad behavior weight.


I keep coming back to knowing..... its the same simple elements

emoticon eat right

emoticon regular and consistent exercise.


Now look out when I pick those kettlebells back up.

We all know this quest is not easy emoticon

We all know that the simple eat less exercise more plan works emoticon


Im finding that just doing those 2 simple things works.................. even tho I dont do it well or consistently... when I do it - I start to lose.
Problem is once I start to lose - I reward myself and cheat.................. and then the curve reverses.

I know better emoticon and can do this................. emoticon

Have not been good this past week. Scale is up, not down. Brought those chinese almond cookies from the bakery and other Valentine goodies, I splurged on. Okay, time to get the mindset right. I can do this and will do this!!

I have gotten in some exercise!

yes emoticon I am holding my weight loss...................... lots to be said for the change in eating. At night I still want that snack............. but I have a small glass of juice ---------- and go to bed. So far so good.

I have gone back to walking. I did 3 miles yesterday.................. and will do the same tomorrow. Feels good.

I have not been eating those night time - right before bed- snacks since I gave up sweets for lent. It makes a difference. The scale is already down 2 pounds for me.

I know what I know............................ I know eating is so key. I havent touched one little sweet.............. there is Valentine candy iin the house and cookies. Normally I would be eating these a few times per day until they are gone................... BUT emoticon I am sticking to my personal pledge for lent.

Now why ant I come up with a personal challenge that allows me to do this other times?

Go figure.

I just cannot keep it in the 150s! So frustrating, and totally my fault because while I am exercising a lot, I am not eating well! I will be working on that this week, and trying Tabata for the first time today at a local gym (it only does classes, no treadmills, etc)

Im doing much much bette. Lent has kicked in and my eating is now in line. I always give up sweets of any kind for lent. no cheats and I seem to do it ok.

emoticon Hi Marge! Thanks for the emoticon .

Snow started really coming down about midnight here in Central Jersey. Ended up with about 6". Went out this morning at about 8:45 to clean off and move my car, so our maintenance dept could plow the street clean. Then went to the supermarket to pick up a few things.

Roads were deserted. Store was deserted. Nice! I am now back home. Going to exercise, then tackle my cleaning project for the day. I am sooo glad that is all done.

Weight is up this morning (186). Did not eat too good last night and have not exercised in a couple of days. With my schedule it is hard to exercise every day. So, I really need to focus on eating better. We're about to start the 2013 Winter 5% Challenge, which should help me try to be more consistent in getting at least 10 minutes in, a day. I still can't wrap that around my thinking that that really helps the weight loss process.

I really want to hit the 170's this year. Focus! Focus! Focus!

Hey, fellow New Jerseyan! How'd you do with the snowfall? And welcome to the challenge.

GR8TER, I'm confident you can get to your goal. Mine is to lose a total of 28 pounds by St. Pat's day. I don't know that I can make that much, but I WILL give it my best shot. That's all I can do--not kid myself and be honest with SP about my efforts.

Course, the fact that it will take me hours to dig out of the remains of Nemo here in NJ and burn Lord knows how many calories can only HELP me reach that goal! emoticon

i always give up all desserts for Lent. This will be my third year. I have been doing better watching what Im eating.................. and thats kind of a prep for Lent too.
I will go out and have an ice cream sundae before Lent starts.................

Im guessing Im about 2 total pounds down since kicking off this challenge........... but I was as much as 5 pounds up too from my starting weight. I keep losing the same 3 pounds which is NOT the objective here at all.

Working on it.................. emoticon

Lent is coming--the 13th, I believe. I made a vow to give up potato chips and ice cream, way back last April for personal reasons. I said I'd steer clear of them till Easter Sunday. Well, since I'm eating healthfully, I have no intention of eating those things Easter or any other day, but I do like the discipline of Lent.
I'm thinking about giving up all sweets (which doesn't amount to much: the only sweet I really allow myself is sugar free fudge pop) and ALL chips (lentil, hummus, etc.).
I'm also going to replace my lunchtime diet drinks with lemon water.

I am giving up candy during work. I have a chocolate dish in my consult room, so someone can have a piece while they wait for me to tell them their biopsy results. I know we should feel our feelings not feed them, but it usually works to calm people down. Unfortunately, I usually have one, too. Bad news is hard to hear, but it is also hard to give.

Today I signed up to take a Zumba instructor training course. I always wanted to do that........... so here I go.
I also signed up for the 40 mile 5 boro bike tour in NYC.

Let the dam physical training begin !

wish i could report a loss......... but the scale is going in the wrong direction and I have no one to blame but myself. Im not exercising and I ate almost all of those girl scout cookies.

I can do better and will.

Down a pound this week---and I'll take it. I sort of screwed up a bit by ingesting too much sodium (none added--all hidden in canned food. My bad; I should have been more diligent) but I'm flushing it out and regrouping.

I used to rebound also.............. I still jog on it on rainy days or cold one where i cant run outside. Weighed in................. Im still hanging at 139........................ but Im not really doing much to change it so this is my own fault.


Keep going guys................... I need a major jumpstart.

I used to rebound a few years back. I really liked it, the FIRM even has a DVD I think, or one of their spinoff companies (maybe Tracie Long?) It was a lot of fun, when my kids overused the mini tramp, I never replaced it, and kinda got out of it. They sell the mini tramps at Walmart and Target I think, cheaper than the catalogs.

Gr8ter, you'll keep moving forward with your goal. I've been drinking water with TruLemon added, which makes it so much more palatable for me. That's major. Cut back on the coffee---and tomorrow at 8 am I have a blood test for my insurance: NO COFFEE, only water till after the test. Talk about a TEST...wish me luck!

So MADZ, on Thursday I drank 1/2 my water before the coffee and the other half later (with dinner). I had my coffe and my water too! I unfortunately did not follow my own good example on Friday. The difference: on Thursday I got up to exercise before work and drank a lot of the water right then. No issue. Friday I saved the workout for the evening, so I went right for my coffee in the AM. emoticon

I believe I am on the correct path this time. I am doing lots of Wii Sports games and dance videos to get this weight off---so far so good.

I'm joining late, but so far I'm down one lb a week in January, so I'm on target. My unhealthy habit is the same as MADZ - replace sugary creamer coffee with more water to reach my daily water goal.

I do the decaf tea at night too. This week is chai, and I drink it black with Truvia. My one habit I'll change, is sitting in my office at lunchtime. Too cold to go out, so I'll stroll a round the halls. I'm not willing to lose any more of my food. :)

OK everyone............................. today is change one habit day.
Change ONE unhealthy habit one day at a time. Pick just one of your unhealthy habits and change it.................................... let us know which one you pick and how you are changing it.

Im kicking off by saying I am going to emoticon bedtime snacks. Im guilty of feeling good about an old childhood tradition--- a few cookies with milk before bed.

Im changing that to a cup of decaf tea....................... an hour or so before bed.
