No damage to our house really, a few minor things easily fixed. All we lost was a few hundred dollars worth of food, easily replaced. Our power came back on after 4+ days, so lucky there as well. I have been opening my house the last few days (since Friday night when the power came back) to friends and neighbors without power. Laundry, charging things, etc. since so many neighbors helped us during the power outage. We haven't gotten much help from town, state, or federal other than the awesome National Guard coming to help keep the looters out of my neighborhood! It has all been neighbors, such an amzing town coming together to help each other! Obama came and hugged a few people and then left, no help there, FEMA is here, but the damage is still raering its head so not many are filing claims. The Red Cross got here last night.
I am leaving soon to volunteer at our Town's donation center, also run by townees and most donations are from townees. We have friends out of state who are asking their neighbors to donate, and trucks full arrive every day. So amazing, it gives me chills!

I'm in Northern New Jersey, about a 30 minute drive into Manhattan. The winds have picked up a bit, but still no rain yet. I really hope everyone in the storms path has listened to the warnings and has taken necessary precautions. This is going to be my 5th hurricane that I've been through. The worst was Charlie, in Florida, in 2004. Even though Sandy is "just" a category 1, the fact that it is a full moon, and the sheer size of this storm means that the amount of water in the form of storm surge, and the winds are unprecendented. Please be safe!

Another beautiful day! One I wish I could spend at the park with my SO. He's there performing at a benefit and it's the first gig I've missed in years. Sadly, I'm at work on a short 10 hour day. Had a lousy last two days, but the sun is shining and it's a lovely day today. Of course, I'm at work on a 14 hour shift, but that's alright. I can go outside during quiet times so I can soak up some of that bone warming sunshine. Eating wise, I'm still under calorie range but I had more carbs yesterday than I usually eat. (I'm a ketogenic eater.) But, I do have to admit the lovely frozen yogurt with mochis was tasty tasty! Back on track today except I forgot to bring my pork rinds so no munchy snack...

We get back our mete as we measure....

it never ceases to amaze me how I know the right things to do............. and i know I can do them................ but I dont. Commitment issues I guess.

Tried to run yesterday and it didnt really work. I can powerwalk for miles............ did another 10 - but my body is not liking the running. may start the couch to 5k again and see if I can work back into it slowly.



Dd a very long bike ride........... now that I love.
Going to be nippy today. doing some outside lawn work...........


scale got ugly again.... and Im seeing that 140 number too often. YUCK emoticon

Ugh, haven't run since my 5K on Saturday, and I feel like a lump. I am having a rough time in the new room I work in at school, and am giving my notice this week, and it makes me sad. I also feel like I cam catching a cold, which I am trying to avoid! My third and final Half of the Fall is on Sunday, and I don't want to be miserable for it, so I am taking it easy! i don't care about my time, but I don't want to be sobbing at the finish line like I was in Philly!
I miss running, lol

I took a 10 mile walk yesterday................ it felt good and Im thinking I may do it again today.

Nice seeing everyone here.

Dee - I feel for you - I swore that when dh left last month I'd get my house in order, have everyone on a better schedule, have a fresh, home cooked meal on the table every night, introduce the kids to new veggies ... and get plenty of exercise. NONE of that happened. I've been working non-stop, plus dealing with the kids and all their activities. We've eaten out or brought home take out nearly every night - and now with only 2 weeks left I'm afraid there isn't enough time to make the changes and get everyone on board. But - each day I try and stay on track, and make a few good decisions - and small changes. Life might now slow done enough, but I can get in better shape so I can keep up !

I don't dance to a different drummer, the music is in my soul

Hi Team,
Sorry it has been so long since I checked in. I have been consumes by work since school started in September and consequently I have consumed everything I could get my hands on. In addition to work, we had to have our furnace replaced. We had a service technician come in to to a "tune-up" before we turn it on and he found a crack in. It could have been very dangerous if we had not found it so I am grateful we did. However I was not prepared financially to have to replace it. I spent more than a week just setting up & getting estimates, doing research into the different brands and their cost, reliability & performance. Then I checked out the contractors with the Better Business Bureau. Meanwhile, I had no idea how we would pay for it. I am blessed to have a brother who is better off financially than we are and he is also very thoughtful & generous. He loaned us the money. The furnace was installed on Friday just in time since the temperature dropped.
I finally got myself on the scale today to confirm what I already knew, I gained weight-5 lbs. I can feel it all over. The overeating is taking its toll on me physically & emotionally. So here I am, where I should have been all along. It's good to be back!

This weekend I have no races, and oddity to be sure, because next weekend I am tackling my 3rd Half in 36 days to earn my Half Fanatic status! I will be running in Hershey Park!

I was really looking forward to fall - but yesterday was in the 80's!

I completed a 4 week challenge to get my entire family on track. One of the things I've found really helpful is using Plan to Eat www.plantoeat.com/ref/zhgaxffphr - great way to plan out all your meals - plus it'll generate a grocery list for you - nice when you are at the store and forget what you need (you can access it on your smart phone as well) Right now they are offering the first 30 days free to use - to see if you like it. Another thing I've found that is being helpful - Martha Stewart has these stick on dry erase "boards" at Staples - you can stick them to a fridge - whatever. They R reposition able - not sticky. Anyway - they come in calendars, blanks, whatever. I use the 7 day planner to plan out my menu's. Helps in 2 ways - kids no longer bug me as to what is for dinner, and I look at it each night when I'm cleaning up after dinner to see if there is something I need to take out of the freezer. If plans change - a swift wipe of a paper towel and I can change my meals around. It's helping my entire family be a little healthier !

I am trying to be more positive about fall. My fiance *loves* this time of year. My favorite parts are Chowderfest at Long Beach Island, New Jersey and Oktoberfest at Bear Mountain in New York. Neither are very healthy but they are both such fun events! At least they both involve walking.

I love Fall!

I have 2 more Half Marathons this month on the 7th and the 21st, and 2 5Ks. One 5K is the Monster dash at Jenkinson's and i am dressing up. Can't wait!
