the only holiday I tackle NYC for is Christmas..................... the city is so illuminated that I just cant bear to miss it.............. craziness and all. The rest of the time when I go into the city it is on an off day and off hour.

Kimmie...I did walk over last night, 1 mile each way...didn't feel like staying though, band was playing so I just turned around and headed home.

kimm 8 miles that is a whoohoo! Good job kiddo!

I jogged 3. it took me an hour! i am so slow. But i am trying.
Only been jogging a month, it takes time.

Belmar, I pass by there going to work, or the exit on the NJ parkway for it. i work in wall, live in Toms River. Belmar is nice. After the season is over and the bennies go home. i will drive over the Seaside bridge and jog on the Boardwalk at or before/during sunrise. what a great way to start the day. Seeing the sun rise over the Ocean. it is so peaceful and quiet.

Gerry, my son wanted to ride his bike there tonight, but I don't know if he did, lol. I went for a run at the Belmar Boardwalk (8 miles wooohooo) and when I got home, the house was empty. Blissfully empty lol. Hope it was a great night!
Tomorrow I am talking the teenies to NYC to see Madame Tussaud's and Saturday is the Color Run and then a BBQ at our Beach Club. Sunday is Blue Claw's where my teenie is singing the anthem!

Colorcatz------------------------- where is the event in South Plainfield? Im headed to the swimclub - hosting a member BBQ most of the day............ but I may try to make this one mile event. I dont think I could run a 5k anymore........................ I need alot of getting back out there for that. Just been bike riding...................... no running since the broken foot.

Got to go to a GIANTS game last night, very last minute! A friend put me in touch with someone she worked with, who was trying to sell her tix. When I said I didn't have money for tix this week, she *gave* them to me. Holy crow! They were row 8, end zone tix, I could practically touch the players! SO awesome!
Pute me in such a great mood today, and tonight is a 5 mile run (maybe 6, if it is nice out tonight) starting in Belmar at the boardwalk. My running club has a run there every week. Most are very fast, but it gives me something to aspire to, lol
Happy Thursday all, beware the holiday traffic, esp if you live near the shore!

Heading up the GSP and the NY Thruway this morning to exit 17, Gardiner NY to check on the RV...some Team NJ members know my RV from us using it as a gathering point for NJ Spark Rallies and walks/runs in the past...I guess it's part of the NJ Spark family too!

My Spark page has a picture of one of our rally groups standing in front of it, one of my favorite Spark memories.

Pray for my RV's return (JK)...I should be getting it back next week. Need it, have a busy few months of travel. Parking it down in Cape May County again for September & October (was there from March till Memorial Day), and an annual Columbus Day Weekend (week) trip to a rally in New Hampshire is planned as well.

hey Mr Gerry - having some renovation work done at the shore so havent been down in a few weeks............... heard the storms were intense.

Where the heck did ya find 30 pounds? I weigh exactly the same as the last time I saw you but since parking it for so long with the broken foot ----------------- Im way flabbier than I used to be. Its enough to make ya want to scream............ and I havent really gotten back to an exercise routine --- but need to.

Are you still doing the volleyball?

Ok gang --------------- Im starting to check out the YMCA group exercise class schedule. Time to get real again............................... again !

Wow, PP, 65 minutes...way to go!

I walked for 35 minutes, my pace is currently slower that at my peak, used to do this 2 mile route in 30 minutes...guess carrying around an extra 30 pounds is dragging me down.

Not much planned today, pool work, yard work...nothing new...

yup it rained. i got offwork early andgot paid for a full day. I am NOTcomplaining.Camebackand did the Total gym. Then went for a job interview. Now I am doing freeweights. i am getting strongand NO flabby, wave in the breeze arms on ME!

it is crazy down here today, lots of storms, temp like a yoyo all day long! Stayed in and did pilates and my 5th day of plankaday.Managed to hold it for almost a minute and 20 seconds

When I hit the '50 I was HAPPY.
Now I am mad and going to open up a can of whoop ass and kick mine. I want to be in the '40s.

Did the Color Run in Brooklyn today, so much fun, I posted on my blog about it. Then some grocery shopping, lots of fresh veggies and fruit!
The scale is also my friend this week, I think I may have hit my stride, almost back to the 150s!

YEAH!!! Summer is almost over. I hate the hot weather. I will lose weight faster when it cools off.
Going to mow the grass now. Hopefully it will be the last time til next year. maybe one more go around. it grows slow here..
Do a little shopping. Then jog and do the Total Gym.
Then watch the Travers Stakes race on TV.

Lost one pound last week.
I need to lose 20 more to be in the right weight range for my height.
i want to lose it by November. i want to buy a new leather jacket for a reward for me for my Birthday.

Way to go for you! ye-haw!

My legs are tired tonight . I also did a lower body and core work out inside. The exercises in Bob Harper's book, Are You ready. Lots of squats and lunges. They are really working, making my legs stronger with more spring.

I am waiting for the rain to take a day off from jogging. I have jogged 11 days straight. i am so slow. But I am trying. if you saw me last year. You wouldn't believe i would even be able to jog one step.

havent been bike riding as much as I need to - so I better kick it up soon......... emoticon

i am doing better with eating and am working on one liquid low cal meal per day. Hoping for a protein shake - fresh berries - yougurt and protein powder............. for at least every other day lunch. Stocked back up and low carb stuff.

I have been really watching my eating this week, which I should be doing every week, but you know how that goes sometimes! I managed to lose a few, and i am 1.5# ahead of my Spark Goal to lose a marathon in pounds by the day of my marathon. Progress is always good!
Way to go, keep it up and you will be past that weight before you know it!

I worked out hard today WHooo!
my arms are pooped. legs a little tired too, it feels good. Now I am going to play w/ my car and relax and wax it.

The new routine i do for strength training looks easy, but it isn't. The weights aren't heavy 5-12 pounds, but it gets me.

I am 4.7 pounds less than last Tuesday. I know some of the weight last Tuesday was water weight. Still I can tell my my size of the gut, I am a tiny bit smaller.

Hi NJ team,
I have been on the Are you Ready site. They talk to much about food. I am more into exercise. I am still jogging. Trying to go further faster each day. 1-2 days a week I take off when the weather is raining. I do indoor stuff them. This morning before the break of dawn 69 minutes/4.04 miles. I know. VERY SLOW.
Only been jogging a couple weeks.
Last year the only place I ran to, was the car, to go to Monghans Liquer store, and i weighed a ton. So I would say this year is a big improvement. Still have a weighs to go.20-25 pounds.
going for a bike ride now to store. Then eat breakfast. Then do strenght training and Total Gym. Today is my big work out day.
This exercise stuff really has wonderful benefits. emoticon emoticon emoticon

Hi Team!
I had the first day of my two-day math workshop.Today was rather dull, but tomorrow should be more interesting. I had lunch at the diner. Not the best choice, but I did track my food and I am adjusting accordingly. My new dance dvd came so I will try and burn off some calories.

Congrats Tracy!!

Well yesterday I went to the pool where I generally just splash around and then sit & read. I decided that I need to move more so a wore my pedometer & walk around the olympic size pool while I listen to my IPod. Then I took off my pedometer and got in and did some arm exercises using the water as resistance. After sitting an reading I decided to put my pedometer back on as I strolled around talking to people......well, I forgot to take it off when I decided to go back in the pool!! YIKES!!! Fortunately I have a back up pedometer....the one I bought for my husband but he never uses!

I am filling up my calendar with activities as the summer winds down & returning to work looms in my future. Unfortunately, there are a lot of meals with friends. I am meeting one for dinner & then we are going to see the movie Hope Springs. We are eating at Atlanta Bread which is a chain, so I am going to look at the website so I can plan ahead. I ordered a new dance/exercise dvd. I can't wait until it comes! Well I've been Sparking for a coupe of hours now so I should get up and move.

The weather was great, a little hot, and wayyyyyy too many people, but still good. Evita was a great play, I didn't know the storyline and i loved it, but Ricky Martin was not there as promised, altho his understudy was very good, and the Evita was screechy and you couldn't understand half of what she said. I am gonna watch the Madonna movie and see what i missed lol

I Cleaned my laundry room today. What a job that was........ i dont have a basement so the laundry room is one of those rooms that collects everything. It looks great now.......... and I got rid of lots of stuff. Why do we save things we dont need?

going to freecycle some clothes i dont need and thats a good thing.

I have had an ear infection and sinus congestion for the last 2 weeks. Been on antibiotics, but they help one day and the pain comes back 2 days later. RMissed one workout session as a result, but I'm back on track.

looks like I am winning out over this cold. Except for a cough - and a little sluggish feeling Im back on the mend.


Back to bike riding........... and today Im cutting 3 lawns. My home my Mom and the parsonage at my church Good workout before tomorrows thunder storms.

Just walked the dog............ she's a 12 1/2 year old springer spaniel........... still wants to walk but too old to take long walks in this hot weather. I think she is smaarter than I am.

Last few days I have felt pretty run down so i watched *a lot* of Olympics. I did manage to get in some burpees for a challenge I am doing, but I will have to high tail it the rest of the week to get in my 100. They make my heart beat so fast, I can only do 10 at a time!
The scale is not my friend today, too much comfort food, so I am back on track now, sickness be damned! I actually hope to come home, do 10 or 20 burpees and run 3 miles for a virtual race I am doing. Then I will run my Summer Series 5K tonight (so long as the lightening stays away this time!)
Sunday is my Runyon 5K at Yankee Stadium. Lots of stairs and ramps, and then BBQ time!

did a 10 mile bike ride yesterday ------- it was way too hot....................
today I have a summer cold........... fever and body aches/. I babysat my sisters kids for the weekend and my nephew was sick so i guess I have what he had.

Yoga was great, and I did my weekend run, 3 miles in that insane heat last night. Today is a rest day, Olympics all day for me, maybe some laundry. I migh do some pilates in the late afternoon, not sure yet!
Tomorrow we drive to DC to pick up my 15yo, she has been there for a week already at a nationwide Leadership Conference. WAY too long for her to be away, we miss her like crazy!

Hi all! Just stopped by to say good night! Had work today...tracked my food too! Gotta try to keep that up because EVERYTHING i read tells me that helps!

NJJazz: OMG! The Surf Club!!!! i haven't been there since the late 70's!!!!!! Hope you had fun!

Kimmie: i am still getting used to the Wii...i got it with Just Dance 3 so that my 9 yr old niece would use it...i can make it thru 2 songs before i gotta sit down! i also bought the Sports game...haven't done anything but bowling on that...not too exhausting - LOL! i noticed a fitness section on Just Dance, but i have yet to check it out. It also came with a free Netflix trial which is over now but i continued the subscription...and apparently there are fitness videos there too...or so i am told.

Off to bed! Tomorrow is church but not sure what i'll do afterwards.

Kimmie, sounds like a great start to your day! I miss yoga - knee injury and tennis elbow so I had to take two breaks in a row, so I haven't been to class in ages!

I am struggling with my diet this week, I went off of Medifast (doctor's orders) and increasing my carbs and eating all the food groups (no fruit, dairy, grains, high carb veggies on Medifast) triggered carb cravings! and some expected water retention...ugh.

I hope everyone is enjoying the weekend, and finding ways to keep cool!

Just finished yoga on the beach, plus a 2 mile round trip bike ride to get there. Next is a fun shopping excursion with my Cash Mob friends (we all get together once a month and shop at a local store) and then some lazy beach time with hubby.

It's been a busy few days. Thursday I spent the day with a bunch of my friends, Yesterday I took my dad to my brother's house for the weekend. He lives about an hour away. I spent the day there. Today we have a BBQ. All good times, but challenging for my eating. Not perfect , but I am making progress.

Good Morning New Jersey!!!!!

i'm sorry i don't pop in here enough - i work 2 jobs and spare time is tough to come by (as many of you must deal with, i'm sure) but i hope to get back in the swing of things and say hello more often!

Trying to make this month start off right...i'm eating pretty well...could do better of course. But ohhhh i just can't seem to get an exercise mojo going! i love to walk, ride my bike, i own
a few free weights, Walk Away the Pounds DVDs & even got a Wii a few months ago! Yet i am SO un-motivated! Going to try t kick it in gear before the summer ends!

And someday i hope to meet up with some Jersey Sparkers at a walk or something - depends on work!

Karen, there are so many bike choices because there are so many different ways to ride! Around town? Distance? Flat or hilly? On-road or off-road? I would suggest finding a good local bike shop and ask questions. They can hook you up with what you need at what you want to spend. Happy cycling!

When I was going to college I was going for special ed but I got a birth certificate instead then right to work.. I am a phone operator who works nights in jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune.. I just love it!

I will be in the Autism room in our elementary school. It really is a challenge, especially when they cannot tell you what they want or need, but I love woring with them. I was in the preschool room last year, with some autistic students, some with speech delays. SO cute, I will miss that room!

Kimmie, God bless Sp. Ed. Teachers & Paras! It is such a challenging job! My daughter wants to teach autistic students. Last year I had a students with Aspergers main streamed into my algebra class without a Para. It was a challenge for him and for me! I go back the 4th too. The kids come in on the 5th!

Dee, I just got my assignment today (I am a para in Special Ed). I already knew, since they were moving me to a more challenging room, I got a head's up early, but the official letter came today. We go back to work on Sept 4 and the school year begins on the 6th. Bring it on!

WOW August already! U just started week 5 of training for the Disney Marathon, doing tons of Virtual Runs as well, you make a donation to the hosts charity, run on your time, and get a medal. Lots of fun!
Only 8 more days of work before we break again for summer (I am working summer pre-school). Then I have 3 weeks off before school starts, which makes me nervous because they moved me to a new room. Change may be good, but I hate change lol
