May 18 - - We are what we speak
Psalm 51:10 “Create in me a clean heart, O God, and put a new and right spirit within me.”
I saw a television news story about a 68-year-old Israeli man who, after 10 years of serious heart disease, had received a heart transplant. The donor was a young Russian man who had died in tragic circumstances. He had been killed on the street.
A year after the operation the man was able to meet with the mother of the person who had given him life. The meeting was very emotional. The woman asked if she could press her ear to his chest so that she could hear the beating heart of her son.
Twenty years ago I was also dying — but in a spiritual death. Then I, too, had a heart transplant. Here is how the prophet Ezekiel described my operation: “A new heart I will give you, and a new spirit I will put within you; and I will remove from your body the heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh” (Ezek. 36:26).
My donor was my Savior who gave his life for me. He also died in tragic death. He was killed on the cross. I received from my donor a new heart. Now the heart of my Savior beats in my chest, and I sing praises to the risen Christ! Author - - Yevgeni Tarasov (Moscow, Russia)

Revelation 3:20 Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.
I think the key word in this scripture is "I will come in to Him". God wants to come into you. God wants to live in you. He wants to be part of your life.
Just how much of God do you want? Do you want only enough of God to get into heaven or do you want all of God you can have?
What so you think?

May 16 - - God knows us better then we know ourselves
Mar 2:8 And immediately when Jesus perceived in his spirit that they so reasoned within themselves, he said unto them, Why reason ye these things in your hearts?
Psalm 139:2 Thou knowest my downsitting and mine uprising, thou under-standest my thought afar off. (3) Thou compassest my path and my lying down, and art acquainted with all my ways. (4) For there is not a word in my tongue, but, lo, O LORD, thou knowest it altogether. (5) Thou hast beset me behind and before, and laid thine hand upon me. (6) Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; it is high, I cannot attain unto it. (7 ) Whither shall I go from thy spirit? or whither shall I flee from thy presence? (8) If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there: if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there. (9) If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea; (10) Even there shall thy hand lead me, and thy right hand shall hold me. (11) If I say, Surely the darkness shall cover me; even the night shall be light about me. (12) Yea, the darkness hideth not from thee; but the night shineth as the day: the darkness and the light are both alike to thee.
I think that when we come to a place in or lives were we realize, as the palmist did, that we cannot hide from God. That God is present with us and within us. That God knows our most inward thought. Then and only then will we live the life that God has called us to live.
God does hear our prayers. These men must have loved this friend very much to go to such extreme in order to bring him to Jesus. They had such faith in Jesus that they would tear a roof from a house in order to reach him. It is not hard to understand Gods response to a prayer like this.

Mar 2:8 And immediately when Jesus perceived in his spirit that they so reasoned within themselves, he said unto them, Why reason ye these things in your hearts?
Jesus perceived in His spirit what they were thinking. Jesus looked upon their heart and knew.
1 Samuel 16:7 7 - - - For the LORD sees not as man sees: man looks on the outward appearance, but the LORD looks on the heart.”
What if God looked upon our heart what would He see. Or I should say when God looks upon our heart what does He see. God does look upon our heart you know.
God knows our most inward thoughts.

Mar 2:6-7 6 But there were certain of the scribes sitting there, and reasoning in their hearts, 7 Why doth this man thus speak blasphemies? who can forgive sins but God only?
We have all heard the old saying “seeing is believing” well here in this scripture we see where seeing in not believing. Now the scribes were setting there and saw what Jesus had done and began to reason in their heart.
There will always be those who will reason in their hearts. Not willing to except what they have just seen with their own eyes, Always trying to explain away the mighty movement of God. Always trying to give the glory that belongs to God to something or someone else.
“This man speaks blasphemy who can forgive sin but God”. They have just seen a miracle, a man healed of the palsy but all they could say was this man speaks blasphemy.
They could not see the physical movement of God because of their spiritual blindness.

Mark 2:10-12 10 But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power on earth to forgive sins, (he saith to the sick of the palsy,) 11 I say unto thee, Arise, and take up thy bed, and go thy way into thine house.12 And immediately he arose, took up the bed, and went forth before them all; insomuch that they were all amazed, and glorified God, saying, We never saw it on this fashion.
Jesus says, “so that you may know”. Jesus does have power over sin. After proving that He has the power to forgive sin Jesus goes on to deliver healing to the man sick of the palsy.
I am so glad that Jesus has the power to forgive sin. You see forgiveness of sin is the healing that I really need. Only a few need physical healing, and I am so glad that Jesus is able to heal those in need of physical healing but all of us need spiritual healing, forgiveness of sin.
After all healing from our sins is the reason Jesus died on the cross.

May 11 - - They wanted healing Jesus gave forgiveness
Mar 2:5 When Jesus saw their faith, he said unto the sick of the palsy, Son, thy sins be forgiven thee.
There are times when what we want for our life and what God wants for our life don’t match...The four men and the one sick of the palsy were seeking a healing but got forgiveness.
Often times our prayers are not answered the way we would like for them to be answered. These men had brought this man to Jesus for a healing and what did they get, “Your sins are forgiven”. This is not what they wanted they wanted a healing. God sees our need beyond what we see. Jesus sees the need for forgiveness; the men see the need of bodily healing.
So often times we pray for one thing and it does not come because God sees a need far greater than that which we are asking.
What do you believe is the more important healing or forgiveness of sin? Healing is for now - forgiveness of sin is for eternity.

Mark 2:1-4 1 And again he entered into Capernaum after some days; and it was noised that he was in the house. 2 And straightway many were gathered together, insomuch that there was no room to receive them, no, not so much as about the door: and he preached the word unto them. 3 And they come unto him, bringing one sick of the palsy, which was borne of four. 4 And when they could not come nigh unto him for the press, they uncovered the roof where he was: and when they had broken it up, they let down the bed wherein the sick of the palsy lay.
This is a story of five men and their faith in Jesus. Jesus had come into town and had been received with open arms, so much so that the house was full. There were five men, more than likely good friends one of them being sick with the palsy.
These men had heard that Jesus was in town and had also heard of the miracles of healing that Jesus had performed. So these four men decided that they would take their sick friend to Jesus. They placed him on a cot and carried him to the house were Jesus was. Upon arriving they found a large crowd of people at the house so much so they could not enter.
Now the Bible does not tell us how many ways they tried to enter the house. All it tells us is that they were unable to reach Jesus. They must have tried the front door then the back door. They must have tried the windows. Then they must have tried pushing their way in only to find that they were unable to penetrate the crowd.
When all else failed they lifted the man to the roof and tore the roofing off making a hole big enough to lower the man in. They were determined to get their friend to Jesus. They weren’t about to take no for an answer even if it was going to cost them the price of a new roof.
How persistent are we when we pray? The reason these four men were so persistent was because they know that if they reached Jesus their friend would be healed. If we had this much faith and if we truly believed that God is a God of healing I don’t believe we would stop praying until we received from God. I believe we would be like the four men that tried every way possible even to the point of tearing the roof off in order to get to Jesus.
How many roofs have we torn of lately - - praying?

May 9 - - Then when the Storm comes your house will stand
Matthew 7:24 Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: 25 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock. 26 And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand: 27 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it.
Then when the storm comes, and the storms will come, the Bible tells me that the house built on the sand will fall but the House built on the Rock will stand.
Each build in preparation of a storm and we all know the storm will come. I heard it once said that we are either coming out of a storm, in the midst of a storm or going into a storm.
No better place to be in a storm then anchored to the rock, Jesus the Rock of Ages The Storms will come.

May 7 - - You must be consistent in BUILDING YOUR HOUSE
Matthew 7:24 Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: 25 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock. 26 And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand: 27 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it.
You must be consistent, day after day, week after week, good weather or bad weather. Rain will come and you may want to give up building on your house.
The same is true for us in daily walk with Jesus. You can’t be an on again off again Christian and still be ready for the storm. We need to be consistent in our Christian walk, day after day, week after week, in good times and in life’s storm. Praying, Reading the Bible, Going to Church, helping your brothers and sisters in time of need, day after day, week after week. We don’t take a day off from being a Christian. We don’t take a vacation from the Christian walk. Who would want to take time off from being a Christian? Like the disciples told Jesus in the 6th chapter of John, “where would we go”? Salvation is in no other than Jesus.

There will be times we will need help with the building of our house.
You may need to have someone give you advice or hold a board in place. There may be things in the building that you don’t understand or just don’t know how to do. Then you may need to help others with the building of their house.
The Christian walk sometimes is not easy.
Encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.--1 Thessalonians 5:11
Sometimes we do need help. Sometimes we need others to help by praying. Sometimes we need others to be there for us, to encourage us as we strive to live the Christian life. Sometimes we need good Christian advice, someone to talk to about the storms in our lives. Sometimes we need to help others by doing the same.

May 4 - - Choosing the best material for BUILDING YOUR HOUSE
Matthew 7:24 Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: 25 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock. 26 And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand: 27 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it.
Material
When we build our house we need to use good material, the best lumber and brick good flooring and carpet, the best cabinets in the kitchen, picking and choosing the very best, after all this is our house.
It’s the same with our lives. We need to choose only the very best like being part of a good Bible believing church, having a good prayer life and spending time in God’s Word, after all this is our house.

May 3 - - Choosing the best location to BUILD YOUR HOUSE
For the next few days we will be looking at the Parable of House built upon the Rock
The first thing we will be looking at will be LOCATION
When building a house the first thing we need to look at is location. A person who is going to build will sometimes look for a long time trying to pick just the right location.
Jesus tells us that these two builders each chose different locations. One chose a location you might say is at the beach. Now this sounds like a great place to build. Every day you play in the sand or walk along the beach but the beach is not a very good place to be when a storm comes in from the ocean.
Jesus tells us that the other builder built upon the rock. Rock is not a very easy place to build. To build on rock requires a lot of work. You would need to do some drilling or even blasting in order to set the foundation.
Jesus was speaking of our lives and what we are building our lives upon. Some will build on things that are temporal like money or their jobs, friends and a good time. These are those who are like the man that built on the sand. Then there are those that build their lives upon a rock. Jesus is the rock.
One thing they both have in common in this parable. They are both building in preparation for a storm.

Romans 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
No one want’s to talk about sin, especially if it is our sin. We want to close our eyes and hope it will go away. But the fact remands that we all have sinned.
We have known for a long time that we are sinners but what we did not know was that because of our sin we have been separated from God. This separation from God is known as spiritual death.
But the good news is that we do not have to remain spiritually separated from God. Jesus came to become our sin. Jesus took upon Himself the sin of the whole world “that while we were yet sinners Jesus died for us” Jesus took our sins to the cross so that we would be no longer separated from God.
Romans 10:13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
Have you called upon the name of the Lord?

James 4:7 7 Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
Most often when we read this scripture we see only the last part and then we can’t understand why it does not work.
Yes the bible does tell us to resist the devil but it also tell us to submit to God. I believe that it is our communion with God that gives us the power to resist the devil.
One thing I know for sure is that if I “Submit myself, then, to God. Thin I will have the power to resist the devil and then and only then will the devil flee from us”

John 3:16 and John 1:12 16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. 12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:
Whatever you need is what you need to give away. God loved the world so much he gave His only Son but in giving His only Son He received many Son in return.
If you want a friend then you need to be a friend. If you need someone to love you then you need to love someone and it goes on and on and on. This is the principle of giving and receiving.
If you have a need do what God did, give away what you need.
That doesn’t make any sense does it - - or does it?

Leviticus 1:1-4 1 And the LORD called unto Moses, and spake unto him out of the tabernacle of the congregation, saying, 2 Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, If any man of you bring an offering unto the LORD - - - - 4 And he shall put his hand upon the head of the burnt offering; and it shall be accepted for him to make atonement for him.
What we see here is the transfer of a person’s sin to their offering or their sacrifice by the laying on of hands. We no longer do this today we no longer have to do this. We now have Jesus who has made atonement for our sin. But as a person transferred his or hers sin by the laying of hands upon the sacrifice we can also transfer anointing to another person by the laying on of hands. I had a pastor who once said “It is a placing of one hand on a person and reaching out and touching God with the other hand allowing God anointing to flow through us into that person”. I always try to place my hand on a person when I pray for them.
When my wife and I place our offering in the church we first place our needs upon the offering by placing our hand upon it. I believe this blesses God by our trusting in Him provide for our needs. Our offering is a seed planted in God to provide for the need of the saints but also producing fruit enough too provide for our needs.

The servant was there in search of a bride for Isaac. What I want us to see is that before the meeting and before the marriage the servant bowed to the ground and worshiped the Lord.
When we make those big decisions in our lives, like changing jobs or buying a new car or a new house, those big decisions what do we do? Do we think about it, talk about it or do we do as the servant did and “worship the Lord, bowing himself to the ground?

Exodus 33:18-23 18 Then Moses said, “I pray You, show me Your glory!” 19 And He (GOD) said, “I Myself will make all My goodness pass before you, and will proclaim the name of the LORD before you; and I will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and will show compassion on whom I will show compassion.” 20 But He said, “You cannot see My face, for no man can see Me and live!” 21 Then the LORD said, “Behold, there is a place by Me, and you shall stand there on the rock; 22 and it will come about, while My glory is passing by, that I will put you in the cleft of the rock and cover you with My hand until I have passed by. 23 Then I will take My hand away and you shall see My back, but My face shall not be seen.”
Moses saw only the back side of God or I could say where God has been. We too can only see the glory of God in where God has been. We do this by seeing what God has done and by what God is doing in the Church and in our lives but the day will come when we will see God face to face.

April 22 - - Preaching, Receiving and Living the Word
1 Corinthians 15:1 15 Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand;
In this scripture we see three things.
First we see the gospel being preached.
Second we see the preaching of the Word being received. It is one thing to hear the Word and another thing to receive the Word.
I could stand before you with a gift saying I was going to give it to you. You might believe it is a gift. You might believe I am going to give it to you but it is not yours till you reach out and take it out of our hands into your hands. Then it becomes your gift.
Jesus is a gift to us from God. You can believe in Jesus and that Jesus is the Son of God and died for you sin. You can believe that God is going to give this gift of Jesus to you but Jesus is not yours till you take Jesus into your live. When God’s Jesus becomes your Jesus.
Third it says “wherein ye stand”. We hear the gospel, we receive the gospel and then we take a stand in the gospel. That means that we are to live the New life that we now have because we received, God’s gift of Jesus into our lives.

April 19 - - Salvation is personal
Matthew 3:9 9 and do not suppose that you can say to yourselves, ‘We have Abraham for our father’; for I say to you that from these stones God is able to raise up children to Abraham.
We have those in the church that believe that they are right with God because there Father or Mother was a Christian. I have heard many times in the testimony of young people how their father was a preacher or a deacon or how much their mother loved Jesus. Their farther being a preacher or a deacon and their mother loving Jesus has no bearing on their relationship with God. Some even believe that simply because they go to church they are right with God. It is one thing to know about Jesus and another thing to know Jesus.
The Pharisees felt they were right with God because their father was Abraham. Jesus refers to them vipers. Each of us must come to God on our own.
Romans 10:9-10 9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

April 18 - - Keep on Keeping on
Galatians 6:9 (NRSV) - Let us not grow weary in doing what is right, for we will reap at harvest time, if we do not give up.
How many times have we tried to help a person only to feel they didn’t appreciate it or we feel they have taken advantage of us?
Well this scripture tells us to keep on keeping on. Keep doing what is right. It is like planting seeds. When we plant seed we expect a harvest. The same is true when we help a person we expect them to be grateful and a thank you would be nice. But harvest never comes at the same time you plant the seed we must wait.
So keep on keeping on, planting seed of goodwill helping those that need help because we have the promise that the harvest will come.
I would rather receive my reward in heaven then a simple thank you here on earth.

Now at 2, Parker cannot sit by himself, we work with him, and with support, he is able to sit by himself. Parker is unable to walk, but loves to stand on your lap if you hold him. Although Parker cannot talk, he still loves to make plenty of noises, laugh, and finds a lot of things amusing. Parker will be attending school next year, and will use a wheelchair. As of right now, we currently have a small car that can barely fit an infant stroller in it. We are just making ends meet with bills so far, so a wheelchair accessible van is out of the question with budget. I think with all Parker has been through so far in just 2 years of life, he deserves a van that would be able to transport him safely. To many, Parker is not heavy, to us, the parents, after having to carry Parker much of the time, he gets heavy. To lift Parker in and out of the car, struggling to get the stroller in and out of the trunk can be a handful at times. Parker sees many doctors and spends much of his time in therapy. Parker is able to appreciate what people do for him, he loves to put a smile on others faces on a daily basis. He would love if everyone would help him win this van. The van would put less stress on Parker having to get in and out of the car. He would have more room to eat on the go, as Parker is tube fed most of the time. Thanks everyone for reading out story, we thank you in advance for helping us out.

April 17 - - The Holy Spirit was upon him
Luke 2:25 - “And behold, there was a man in Jerusalem whose name was Simeon; and this man was righteous and devout, looking for the consolation of Israel; and the Holy Spirit was upon him.”
It says that Simeon was a righteous and devout man looking for the consolation of Israel. Even though Simon was righteous and devout and even though Simon was looking for the promised Messiah the important factor was that the Holy Spirit was upon him.
We do not only have the Holy Spirit upon us we have the Holy Spirit IN US. Because of the Cross we have been made righteous with God and because of the resurrection we have the Holy Spirit in us.
John 14:15-18 15 If ye love me, keep my commandments. 16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you forever; 17 Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be IN YOU. 18 I WILL NOT LEAVE YOU COMFORTLESS: I will come to you.

Luke 2:25 - “And behold, there was a man in Jerusalem whose name was Simeon; and this man was righteous and devout, looking for the consolation of Israel; and the Holy Spirit was upon him.”
Did you know that God has placed Simeons all over the world? Men and woman who are devout and righteous Christians who are in love with Jesus and who are full of the Holy Spirit. Men and woman who are ready to shear the love of Jesus to a lost world.
Did you know that God is looking for more men and woman who are welling and have a desire to become a Simeon? Did you know God want you and me to become a Simeon?

April 13 - - Jesus the “light is come into the world”
John 3:17-19 19 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. 18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. 19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.
In the world there are both light and darkness and the scripture tells us here that the problem is not the light but the darkness.
That man loves darkness more then he loves light. Man loves the darkness of sin more then he loves the light of Jesus.
Jesus came to take care of this darkness. He did not come to condemn the world but to redeem it. We enter into this redemption by believing. By believing that Jesus is the Son of God who came from Heaven not to condemn us because of our sin but to redeem us from our sin.

Ecclesiastes 2:13 Then I saw that wisdom excelleth folly, as far as light excelleth darkness.
Light dispels darkness, Light always disburses darkness, light and darkness cannot live in the same place. When light comes in, darkness always has to leave.
John 8:12 Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.
Jesus is speaking of sin. So we could say that if we abide in Jesus, who is the light, we will not walk in sin, which is darkness.
You see it is like a man going into a room full of darkness and trying to empty the room of darkness with a bucket. Scooping up the darkness and taking it to a window and throwing it out. How foolish this would be. We all know that this is no way to empty a room of darkness. If you want to empty the room of darkness you turn on the light.
The same is true in our lives. If you want to rid your heart of the darkness of sin, you turn on Jesus the light. When Jesus the light comes into our lives the sin or darkness will leave.
Where will the sin or darkness go? It will go to the cross were it was paid for by the blood of Jesus.

April 11 - - Jesus said, “You are the light of the world.”
- Matthew 5:14 - - 14 Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.
Every time I go to the tool store they give me a small flashlight. I don’t know how many of these flashlights that I have. Every time someone comes to my house they leave with a flash light.
It is good to have a flashlight in times of emergency. I recall a few years back when the power was down for five days. My flashlight became my best friend.
Jesus said he is the Light of the world, I know that wherever I go, whatever happens I will have the light of Jesus with me, Jesus tells me that “You/I are the light of the world.” I am to light up the world around me with love and grace of God. Each of us has the call of God to bring the light of Jesus into a world full of darkness. We light the world so others may see Jesus

Mat 5:23-24 - New International Version - "Therefore, if you are offering your gift at the altar and there remember that your brother has something against you, leave your gift there in front of the altar. First go and be reconciled to your brother; then come and offer your gift.
God is a God of forgiveness. He stands ready to forgive us of our sins but He also expects us to do the same. He tells us in the Lord’s Prayer that we are to pray “forgive us our sin as we forgive those that sin against us”.
Here in this verse God tells us that He doesn’t even want our offering or gifts until we have taken care of un-forgiveness. It does not say if we ought against our brother what is does say is if your brother ought against you. Have you done something to offend your brother? We are the one at fault. God tells us leave your gift and go to your brother and ask forgiveness.
God calls for a life of forgiveness and shows us by example by forgiving us.

Hebrew 12:1-2 - New International Version - Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us. Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.
When you run a race you have to dress for it. You would not run a race dress in your Sunday go to meeting suit you would put on your running shorts and track shoes.
Same is true in our daily walk with the Lord. We need to take something off and we need to put something on. We need to take off sin and those things that so easily entangle us and then we are to put on “perseverance” and the love of “Jesus who is the author and perfected of our faith”.

Matthew 3:8 8 Therefore bear fruit in keeping with repentance;
Repentance means to change direction. You are walking one way or living one way and now you have stopped and turned and are now walking another way. You were walking after the things of the world and now you’re walking after the thing of God.
It tells us here in this scripture that in this change that we chose to make that we are to bear fruit.
In other words there should be evidence of change in our lives in that if we walk after the thing of God we will bear fruit and the fruit that we bear will be the fruit of the Holy Spirit.

You are so right PaPaw, and I have to be strong now. I must be an example to my family and be acceptting, as well as forgiving of my father's step children. I have to pray for courage and strength, so I can accept the fact that my father's step children would not allow me to come by or even consider letting me visit his home,,much less consult with me on his funeral arrangements. I will and have forgiven them. I hope to understand one day, for they say that they are christians...Please pray for guidance for me...I wish only to follow Christ's wishes, I know it is for certain that I could not take anything of his to the next kingdom. But it would have been nice to have something of his to keep. Love your Sister in Christ ..Jill

April 6 - - Be a doer of the Word
James 1:22 But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deluding your own selves.
I had a nephew who was always willing to lessen to my advice. He would agree with every word I said but he never did what I suggested he should do. He was a hearer only. I sometimes think that this is the way we respond to the Word of God.
It is one thing to hear the Word and another thing to do the Word. Often we become very excited about going to Church. We comment on how wonderful the sermon was but we go back into the world doing the same thing we always do. No change. The sermon or the Word made no impression on us at all. James warns us against this when he tells us we need to not only hear the Word but we should also do it.
So tomorrow when you go to church - - - - - - -

We have looked at, “who do they say Jesus is and who do you say Jesus is and yesterday we looked at who does Jesus say that He is”. Now today let us look at the final question. Who does Jesus say that we are?
So If I were to ask Jesus, who do you say that I am what would His answer be.
Wow -- This would make you want to hide under the bed. I have heard all kinds of answers to this question. I’m just a sinner saved by grace. There is the old country gospel song “I’m just an old lump of coal but I’m going to be a diamond someday.” It says in the Book of Romans that we are all sinners and fallen short of the glory of God. All of this is true but who does Jesus say that I am?
If I am a born again believer Jesus would say that I am • God’s child (John 1:12) • I have been justified. (Justified meaning, just as if I had never sinned) (Romans5: 1) • I am united together with the Lord, and I am one with Him in spirit (1st Corinthians 6:17) • I have been bought with a price and I belong to God (1st Corinthians 6:19-20) • I am a member of Christ’s body. (1st Corinthians 12:27) • I have been chosen by God and adopted as His child. (Ephesians 1:3-8) • I have been redeemed and forgiven of all my sins. (Colossians 1: 13-14) • I am complete in Christ (Colossians 2:9-10) • I have direct access to the throne of grace through Jesus Christ (Hebrews 1:14-16) • I am free from condemnation (Romans 8: 1-2) • I am assured that God works for my good in all circumstances. (Romans 8:28) • I am free from condemnation and cannot be separated from God’s love. (Romans 8:31-39) • I have been established, anointed and sealed by God (2nd Corinthians 1:21-22) • I am confident that God will complete the good work He started in me. (Philippians 1:6) • I am a citizen of heaven (Philippians 3:20) • I haven’t been given a spirit of fear but of power, love and sound mind. (2nd. Timothy 1:7) • I am the temple of the Holy Spirit. (1st Corinthians 3:16) • I am seated with Jesus in the Heavenly realm. (Ephesians 2:6) • I am the workmanship of God. (Ephesians 2:6)
But what if you’re not a born again believer? That’s easy “just be a born again believer”.

We have looked at, “who do they say that I am and who do you say that I am” now I would like to see who Jesus says that He is.
Jesus said, “I am the living bread which came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever;" (John 6:51) And He said to them, I AM from above. You are of this world; I am not of this world. (John 8:23) Then Jesus said, "I AM the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life." (John 8:12) Jesus said” I AM the door. If anyone enters by Me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture." (John 10:9) Jesus said, "I AM the good shepherd. The good shepherd gives His life for the sheep. (John 10:11) Jesus said, 'I am the Son of God'? (John 10:36) Jesus said to her, "I AM the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live. (John 11:25) Jesus said to him, "I AM the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. (John 14:6) Jesus said, "I AM the true vine, and My Father is the vinedresser. (John 15:1)

Matthew 16:15 - He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am?
Jesus ask the next question “Who do you say that I am.”
It is one thing to ask someone else “who do you believe Jesus is” and another for us to be asked this question. It is one thing to look at the other person’s relationship with God and another to look at our relationship with Him. I would say that every person in the church has a different relationship with God. No two are the same.
Jesus has a different meaning to each of us. To some He is no more than a way into heaven. To others he is there savior, redeemer and intercessor.
So if I were to ask this question now I am sure each of us would give a different answer.
So I think I will “Who do you say Jesus is”?

Matthew 16:13 When Jesus came into the coasts of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, saying, whom do men say that I the Son of man am?
The disciples answered, “some say that thou art John the Baptist: some, Elias; and others Jeremias, or one of the prophets”. (Mat 16:14)
Jesus is many things to many people.
From Chapter 9 of John’s Gospel, the Pharisees asked this question of a man that was blind from birth who had just been healed by Jesus. “They say unto the blind man again, what sayest thou of him, that he hath opened thine eyes?” (John 9:17) Or who do you say that Jesus is? He answered and said, “I know not: but one thing I know, that, whereas I was blind, now I see”. (John 9:25)
When the parents of this man were asked this question they answered, “We know that this is our son, and that he was born blind but by what means he now seeth, we know not; or who hath opened his eyes, we know not: he is of age; ask him: he shall speak for himself. (John 9:20-21)
The Pharisees in this same chapter answered this question. “Therefore said some of the Pharisees, This man is not of God, because he keepeth not the sabbath day. Others said, how can a man that is a sinner do such miracles? And there was a division among them”. (John 9:16)

April 1 - - Who do you say I am?
Matthew 16:13 When Jesus came into the coast of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, saying, whom do men say that I the Son of man am?
Once when I was asked to give a devotional I had to ask myself this question “just what is a devotional”?
The word devotional comes from the word devotion. Devotion is a loyalty, dedication, attachment, commitment, affection, fondness and care for another person.
Then I had to ask myself another question. How can I give a devotional that will bring a person to this kind of a relationship with God? That was when I came to realize that I cannot. Only the Holy Spirit can do this.
For the next few days I would like for us to look at four questions in regard to devotion and the question Jesus asked “Who do men say I am”?

It is only because Jesus did not sin that He was able to be raised from the dead. Had he sinned he would have fallen under the Law found in Romans 6:23 and he would have been held in the grave as pavement for His sin.
Since He had never sinned the grave had to release Him - - - but there is even more. He allows the injustice of his death to be applied as payment for our sin.
Jesus who did not sin died so that we who did sin may live
Now how great is this?

May you and your family have a joyful Resurrection Sunday.

Sorry - - - I had a typo error on my post for the day “He is risen” It has been corrected. Thank you.
My name is Herbert but they call me Herb I live in Louisville Kentucky the home of KFC. I think this may be why I am on SP now. LOL
Mark 15:6 5 And entering into the sepulchre, they saw a young man sitting on the right side, clothed in a long white garment; and they were affrighted. 6 And he saith unto them, Be not affrighted: Ye seek Jesus of Nazareth, which was crucified: he is risen; he is not here: behold the place where they laid him.
Jesus who died upon the cross, whom had been in a tomb for three day was alive. The disciples had seen Jesus die on the cross. They had seen Him beaten within inches of death. They had seen the body of Jesus destroyed and ripped apart with a whip. They had seen thorns driven into his skull and now they are told that he is alive.
The impossible became the possible. Jesus was and is alive and because Jesus is alive we now have the promise of salvation.
The Resurrection of Jesus is essential to the Christian faith. Everything we believe and our complete hope is hinged upon the resurrection of Jesus. Our eternal future is hinged on the resurrection of Jesus.
Paul writes: "And if Christ has not been raised, our preaching is useless and so is your faith. More than that, we are then found to be false witnesses about God, for we have testified about God that he raised Christ from the dead... If Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins.... If only for this life we have hope in Christ, we are to be pitied more than all men." (1 Corinthians 15:14-15, 17, 19)

March 29 – The death of Jesus lives in me
2 Corinthians 4:10 10 always carrying in the body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be manifested in our bodies.
Wow I never saw this before. We carry in our body the death of Jesus so that we may live in his resurrection. The death of Jesus becomes our death so that the resurrection of Jesus may be our resurrection.
When God looks at Jesus on the cross He sees me. When God looks at me He sees Jesus. They call this GOOD FRIDAY for a very special reason. What happened on this Friday changed our relationship with God forever.
The only thing that can be said is “THANK YOU JESUS”

God is right; it is much like a new relationship..when you first fall in love, you just can't wait to see the one you love , you constantly anticipate the next time you are going to see them or go on a date, but after you get married you find being constantly together you start to lose some of that fondness and you start taking the love for granted. You let it lay unnurtured and it stops growing, it doesn't flourish. It becomes stale and that is when corruption can find it's way in. The Lord is good to those who hope in him, to those who seek him. It is good to wait quietly for the Lord to serve. Lamentations 3:25-26

March 28 - - God said “You don’t love me as you did at first”
Revelation 2:4 (NLT) "But I have this complaint against you. You don't love me or each other as you did at first!
What is the complaint?
It says here that God’s complaint is “You don't love me as you did at first!” This is called being a backslider.
If we have ever been closer to God then we are today we are a backsliders. But the good news is that we don’t have to remain that way. The bible says we are to grow in the knowledge of God.
Spiritual growth is detailed in 2 Peter 1:3-8, "His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness.
God gave us salvation in Jesus as a gift but God also gave us “everything we need for life and godliness through our knowledge of Him.
“Jesus paid it all - All to Him I owe - Sin had left a crimson stain - He washed it white as snow

Those are harsh words coming from God. “I have this complaint against you”. Sin will do this you know. That is why we need the forgiveness that we find ONLY in the Lord Jesus Christ.
When Jesus cried out from the cross “Father why have you forsaken me” Jesus was taking upon Himself all the charges that God had against us.

March 26 - - We rejoice by choice
I will rejoice in the Lord, I will be joyful in God my Savior. - Habakkuk 3:18 (NIV)
Everything in our lives can be going so well then all at once something happens that changes our life forever. Your spouse tells you they are going to leave. It could be that you or a love one has a sudden stroke or heart attack. All these things and others will change the direction of our lives.
But we need to remember that God never changes. The bible tells me that God is the same yesterday today and forever. God is and will be the same loving God that He has always been. We also need to understand that in the valleys of life is where we learn to know God. I heard it once said “If not for the valleys we would not know God at all.
So when things are going well and everything seems to be going right “I will rejoice in the Lord, I will be joyful in God my Savior”. When things are not going well and everything seems to be going wrong “I will rejoice in the Lord, I will be joyful in God my Savior”
Just remember we “rejoice by choice”

Hi Papaw, Again I come to in need of prayer. A blessed young boy of 15 was reunited with his mother from foster, only to lose her in her sleep to our dear Lord. She had surgergy and apparently suffered a blood clot during the night. Once again Jerrod is back in foster care, he was lucky enough to be placed back with his former foster parents. But, Jerrod is very confused and hurt right now. We all need to pray for this young man, he really wants his 21 yr old brother to take him. I believe from experience that would a mistake, just for now. But it is not my decision to make. Thank you my beloved Brother in Christ Jill

March 25 - - God knows what's best for you
Isaiah 48:17 - This is what the LORD says— your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel: "I am the LORD your God, who teaches you what is best for you, who directs you in the way you should go.
No one likes to be told what is best for them. I recall when I was growing up my mother use to tell me, “she would say now this is for your own good” and I know when she said this that I wouldn’t like what she was about to say. Even though I know I would not like what she was about to say I know that she had my best interest at heart. I could put my trust in her because I know she loved me.
God is telling us that He knows what is best for us. He tells us in this scripture “I am the Lord your God, who teaches you what is best for you”.
Isn’t it great that we can put our trust in God knowing that He will direct us in the way that is right. Isn’t it even better knowing that God loves us and God always has our best interest at heart.

March 23 - - Bring up a child in the way they should go
Judges 21:25 says, “In those days there was no king in Israel: every man did that which was right in his own eyes.”
The whole Spiritual climate of a country changes from generation to generation. That is why it is so important that we bring our children up "in the way they should go (so that) when they are old they will not depart from it".
We cannot live the Christian life for our children we can only bring them up teaching them the Word of God, Praying and putting our trust in God. Believing that if we do our job right and believing that the Word of God is true then "our children will not depart from it".
I believe the battle is fought on our knees.

March 22 - - Jesus walks on water Matthew 1424 But the boat was already a long distance from the land, battered by the waves; for the wind was contrary. 25 And in the fourth watch of the night He came to them, walking on the sea.
Immediately after feeding the multitude Jesus made the disciples get into the boat and go ahead of Him to the other side of the sea while He went upon the mountain by Himself to pray. When evening came Jesus was their alone but the boat was already a long distance from the land. A storm arose and was a threat to the disciples in the boat. Jesus came to them in the mist of the storm walking on the water.
We all have storms in our lives but what I want us to see is that in the mist of our storm is when Jesus walks on the water. It is in the storms of life that we see Jesus ministering to our need.

He is absolutely correct, if we continue to wallow in the past, then our lives begin to slowly wilt away. I have learned that no matter how long we reflect on our past mistakes, there is nothing we can do to change what has happened, but we can move forward in the present with what we have learned and taken away with our experiences in life. Learn to move forward with Christ beside you every step of the way and you will walk in the sight of God always. You may stumble, but He will most difinitely be there to catch you if you fall.
The Lord does not listen to the wicked, but he hears the prayers of those who do right. Proverbs 15:29

March 21 - - Forgetting what lies behind
Philippians 3:13-14 (NRSV) - Paul wrote, "Forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the heavenly call of God in Christ Jesus."
The older we get the more we look and live in the past. This can be good or this can be bad depending on what kind of past we had. But being bad or even good Paul’s tells us we are to leave what lies behind in the behind and move into the now.
The now is the only time that is alive. Yesterday is gone and no matter how hard we try we will never bring it back and if we’re not careful the yesterday will destroy the today. We are to live in the now and focus on what lies ahead pressing on to the prize of the heavenly call of Jesus.
The Word tells us that “a people without a vision will parish” We need to have that vision. We need to have and work toward the vision that is found only in Jesus.

March 20 - - Loves and the Fishes Matthew 14:19-20 19Jesus - - -Ordering the people to sit down on the grass, He took the five loaves and the two fish, and looking up toward heaven, He blessed the food, and breaking the loaves He gave them to the disciples, and the disciples gave them to the crowds, 20 and they all ate and were satisfied.
We are looking at the miracle of the loves and the fishes. Jesus fed five thousand men and their family with five loves and two fishes.
What makes this miracle so great is that the miracle took place in the hands of the disciples. “He blessed the food, and breaking the loves He, Jesus, gave it to the disciple”. The disciples began to distribute the food to the people.
Can you just imagine what was going on in the mind of the disciples? Every time they handed a person a piece of bread another peace appeared in their hands. I don’t know what keep them from dancing and shouting.

Psalm 48:12-14 - 14Walk about Zion and go around her; Count her towers; 13 Consider her ramparts; Go through her palaces, That you may tell it to the next generation. 14 For such is God, Our God forever and ever; He will guide us until death.
“That you may tell it to the next generation”. All knowledge must be passed to the next generation or it will die.
It is our responsibility to pass the gospel to the next generation. This is the responsibility of the church but also the responsibility of the home. As parents it is our responsibility to teach our children of Jesus and salvation through Him.

Matthew 5:19 19 Whoever then annuls one of the least of these commandments, and teaches others to do the same, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but whoever keeps and teaches them, he shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.
Wow! - - were talking about teaching here. Where talking about teaching the truth about God. We have seen prayer taken from our children in the schools. We have seen the Ten Commandments removed from the wall. I wonder if this is teaching our children the truth about God.
In this scripture it speaks of being called great in the kingdom and being called the least in the kingdom but James goes ever further than this.
James 3:1 Let not many of you become teachers, my brethren, knowing that as such we will incur a stricter judgment.
James says that teacher will be judged by what they teach. Let us not forget we are all teachers. We are all teaching someone.

March 16 - - Numbers 16:47-48 47 Then Aaron took it as Moses had spoken, and ran into the midst of the assembly, for behold, the plague had begun among the people. So he put on the incense and made atonement for the people. 48 He took his stand between the dead and the living, so that the plague was checked.
An intercessor also stand between that person and the threat being brought against them. Like the old saying goes “ in order for you to get to them you have to go through me”.
In order to stand in a place like this we first of all must be prayed up and confessed up. 48 He took his stand between the dead and the living, so that the plague was checked.

This is a picture of an intercessor, a person that stands between. When we intercede for a person we first of all stand between that person and God. We take that persons hand and then we spiritually take Gods hand bring the two of them together.
A picture of this would a person coming upon a house on fire. They stop and call the fire department. The fire department puts out the fire. The person calling the fire dept. did not put out the fire they simply brought the fire and the fire department together so that they could put out the fire. That is what we do when we incised for a person. We bring God and that person together.

March 14 - - God gave us the breath of life Genesis 3:7 7 And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.
Wow! - - What a picture we have here. God formed man from the dust of the ground and then God knelt down and put his mouth on man’s mouth and breathed the life that was in Him into man and man became a living soul. The life we have in us is the life or the breath that was once in God.
That’s too much for my mind to comprehend.

John 11:11-13 "Which of you fathers, if your son asks for a fish, will give him a snake instead? Or if he asks for an egg, will give him a scorpion? If you then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!"
"... how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!" (11:13b)
The Holy Spirit is the Father's very best gift. It is the gift of himself to dwell with us and within us forever. Jesus said “And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may be with you for ever, even the Spirit of truth: whom the world cannot receive; for it beholdeth him not, neither knoweth him: ye know him; for he abideth with you, and shall be in you. (John 14:16-17)
Jesus is saying, I will ask the Father to send another one like me and He will dwell in you. And He will lead you into all truth.
God alive living in us - - that’s as good as it can get.

Psalm 57:1 I will take refuge in the shadow of your wings until the disaster has passed.”
I recall this story that we told the children about finding refugee in the shelter of God.
A raging fire passed through the born yard burning everything in its path, the farmhouse, the barn and the chicken coop. After the fire was out the old former walked throw the debris seeing if anything was left. He saw this red hen lying on the ground burnt and when he kicked it aside he find her chick’s alive safe under her wings.
Is this what the psalmist meant when he said “O God . . . I will take refuge in the shadow of your wings until the disaster has passed.”?

March 9 - - Knock and it will be opened
Luke 11:9-10 "So I say to you: Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened."
Now the next thing we are told to do is to knock. Often it’s not enough just to ask. Sometimes we have to knock.
When you knock you are becoming more persistent in your request. I don’t know how many times, when I knock on a person’s door, I hear them call “ all right I’m coming keep your shirt on or give me time to get there”. There is something about knocking that brings about an urgency in the request.
We are told that if we ask – we will receive. Seek – and we will find. Knock – and it will be opened. Each of these actions brings about a result.

March 8 - - Seek and you will find
"So I say to you: Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened." (11:9-10)
Then the next thing we are told to do is to “seek”.
I believe the biggest problem most Christians have in their prayer life is that they don’t give God enough time to answer their prayer. You pray for a need and the next day you borrow the money to buy what you’ve been praying for.
Seek, search and look for the answer to your prayer. Often the answer is there but we miss it because we fail to look for it. I once heard a story of a man who went to the top of his house in the midst of a flood. The man prayed for God to save him. Three boats came by to rescue him but each time he refused to leave telling them that he was waiting for God to answer his prayer. The story goes that the man died and went to heaven. In heaven he ask God why He didn’t answer his prayer. God told him, I sent three boats for you but you refused to use them.
How often has God answered our prayers and we missed it simply because God chose to answer it in His way and not our way.

Luke 11:9-10 “So I say to you: Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened.”
There are three conditions for prayer that the Lord is showing us here - asking, seeking and knocking.
Many Christians give up and stop praying to easily. They ask the Lord once or twice and when he doesn't answer they walk away thinking God doesn’t care. What if in this parable the man only knocked once and then walked away?
How many times do we walk away from the answer to our prayers just because we only knocked once?
We are told to first ask God. I believe that this may be the greatest problem that most Christians have today they don’t ask. It tells us in the book of James that “You have not because you ask not” (James 4:2). It seems that we try everything before we resort to prayer.
Most often when everything else fails then we turn to prayer. Is it possible that if we prayed first that we might have to try everything else?
What do you think?
My name is Herbert but they call me Herb I live in Louisville Kentucky the home of KFC. I think this may be why I am on SP now. LOL
Luke 11:7-8 "Then the one inside answers, 'Don't bother me. The door is already locked, and my children are with me in bed. I can't get up and give you anything.' I tell you, though he will not get up and give him the bread because he is his friend, yet because of the man's boldness he will get up and give him as much as he needs."
The door is locked. The father would have to get up quietly from the sleeping area, step across all the children trying not to wake them, find the bread in the dark, move through the animals in front of the door and give the bread to the neighbor. It is not hard for me to understand the man saying, the door is already locked go away.
The point of the parable is to show us the importance of being persistent and never giving up. The friend had a need and he was willing to do whatever had to be done in order to have this need met. So at midnight he goes and knocks -- And he keeps on knocking until his neighbor gets up and gives bread to him even if it is just to shut him up.
By this time I can imagine Jesus' disciples chuckling. Imagine the man on the outside pounding, and the neighbor inside stumbling over children and chickens in order to get to the bread as fast as he can.
Just how persistent are we when we pray? Do we ask only once and then give up or do we knock and knock and knock until the answer comes.
