Trust in the Lord with all your heart
and lean not on your own understanding;
in all your ways submit to him,
and he will make your paths straight.

Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

August 21 - - Psalm 139 - David’s prayer of Praise #4

Then David says
Psalm 139:7 Whither shall I go from thy spirit? or whither shall I flee from thy presence?

Where do you hide from a God that knows everything about you?

David says if I go way up into the highest part of the heavens, God you are there; if I dig a hole and go into the deepest part of the earth, God you are there. Then He says if I fly on the wings of the dawn, and go to the far side of the sea or the other side of the world, God is even there

This can be a good thing because it goes on to say, even there in the highest place or in the lowest place, even on the other side of the world, God you will guide me and take care of me. Your right hand will hold me.

It is great to know that God is always with me. It is great to know that I am never alone.

Hebrews 13:5 5 - - - - “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.”
What do you think?

Pray for revival. - - Today let us pray for our city. Pray that God will provide help and protection to law enforcement and firefighters throughout the city.

August 20 - - Psalm 139 - David’s prayer of Praise #3

Psalm 139:6 Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; it is high, I cannot attain unto it.

Our mind is too small to really understand God. It is like trying to put a watermelon into a Dixie cup. It's just not going to fit.

We try so hard to understand who God is but the truth is we never will. So what we can't understand we must except by faith.

What do you think?

Pray for revival. - - Today let us pray for our city. Pray that God will give wisdom and direction to the mayor, city council, and all other city leaders.

August 19 - - Psalm 139 - David’s prayer of Praise #2

Psalm 139:3-5 3 Thou compassest my path and my lying down, and art acquainted with all my ways.
4 For there is not a word in my tongue, but, lo, O LORD, thou knowest it altogether.
5 Thou hast beset me behind and before, and laid thine hand upon me.

God knows everything going on in our lives. God knows where we are and God knows how we feel. God knows when we’re not feeling good and when we feel great. God knows when we are lonely and when were depressed and sad. God is aware of everything going on in our lives

I think David sums it up in this next verse when he says “Such knowledge is too wonderful for me to even understand and too lofty for me to attain”.

What do you think?

Pray for revival. - - Today let us pray for our city that the people throughout the city will open their hearts to the voice of God, and grasp that He has a loving and eternal plan for their lives.

16 August 16 - - Psalm 139 - David’s prayer of Praise #1

Psalm 139:1 O lord, thou hast searched me, and known me.

David begins his prayer of praise by praying “God hast searched me and known me”. Are you ready to do as David did and open your whole life up to God? To allow God to search you and know you. Are their things in your life that you would rather not allow God to know? Will if there is I have some bad news for you God already know about them.

I think that this is what makes this Psalm so fantastic. It tells us that God knows everything about us.

So did David give God an invitation to search him and know him? No I don’t think so. It says that God already searched him and God already knows him the same way He already knows us.

What do you think?

Pray for revival. - - Today let us pray that our church services will be marked by displays of supernatural power, be it in healings, spiritual gifts, and lives that are dramatically changed by Jesus Christ.

August 15 - - Jesus in the Temple #7

2 Corinthians 5:21 For he hath made him (Jesus) to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

It is as simple as this; Jesus became our sin and took the punishment for our sins on the cross but not only were our sins forgiven we were also given the righteousness of Jesus. It is this righteousness of Jesus that makes us right with God. Jesus became our sin we became the righteousness of Jesus.

It is by the righteousness of Jesus that we enter into the reward of Heaven. So when we stand before God He will ask us if we have any righteousness. God will tell us that we will be unable to enter Heaven without righteousness which means “being right with God”.

When we stand before God we will be able to say --- Yes I have righteousness I have the righteousness of your Son Jesus who gave it to me on the cross.

What do you think?

Pray for revival. - - Today let us pray that God will grant the pastoral leadership a strong sense of vision for His plans regarding the church and congregation.

August 14 - - Jesus in the Temple #6

Luke 2:49 And he said unto them, How is it that ye sought me? wist ye not that I must be about my Father's business?

There it is again. Jesus said “Don’t you know I must be about My Fathers Business. The last part of July we talked in great deal about the Fathers Business. Over and over in God’s Word we see Jesus telling us the reason He came.

Luke 4:18 The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,
Luke 4:19 To preach the acceptable year of the Lord.

And let us not forget that Jesus came to take our place on the cross. The cross was not prepared for Jesus it was prepared for us. It was our sins that nailed Jesus to the Cross.

2 Corinthians 5:21 For he hath made him (Jesus) to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

What do you think?

Pray for revival. - - Today let us pray that God will grant the pastoral staff strong health, physically, emotionally, and spiritually

August 13 - - Jesus in the Temple #5

Luke 2:48 And when they saw him, they were amazed: and his mother said unto him, Son, why hast thou thus dealt with us? behold, thy father and I have sought thee sorrowing.
Luke 2:49 And he said unto them, How is it that ye sought me? wist ye not that I must be about my Father's business?

Mary asks Jesus "why have you done this to us?"

Jesus' reply was not what you might expect form a young boy. "Why are you searching for Me, don't you know I must be about my father work?" Jesus knew he was to honor his mother and so when she told him to return home he did so.

At the beginning of this scripture it says that Jesus grew, and waxed strong in spirit, filled with wisdom: and the grace of God was upon him. Jesus didn't become the Son of God when He was born in Bethlehem. Jesus didn't become the Son of God when He was twelve years old in the temple.

Jesus was in the beginning. In the beginning before anything was there was “the Word - Jesus”. Before the world was there was “the Word – Jesus”. Before the angels were there was “the Word- Jesus”. Before anything was there was “the Word- Jesus”. And the Word - Jesus was with God and “the Word - Jesus was and is God”. Everything that was made was made by 'the Word - Jesus' and “In the Word - Jesus was life” and it is this life that was in the Word - Jesus that gave life to each of us.

What do you think?

Pray for revival. - - Today let us pray that the lives of our pastoral staff will be marked by integrity and godliness.

August 12 - - Jesus in the Temple #4

Luke 2:47 And all that heard him were astonished at his understanding and answers.

No wonder they were astonished at His understanding of the law. They were talking not only to the one that understood the law but the one who gave them the law. They were talking to the one who not only knew about God, but who was and is God.

The story does not end in a temple with a young boy who is the “Word that became flesh”. This is the story of God who became man that He might take upon Himself the sin of the world. This is the “Word that became flesh” that now lives in my heart and I hope your heart.

What do you think?

Pray for revival. - - Today let us pray that the pastoral staff will remain bold in proclaiming spiritual truth, even when it is unpopular to do so.

August 9- - Jesus in the Temple #3

Luke 2:43 And when they had fulfilled the days, as they returned, the child Jesus tarried behind in Jerusalem; and Joseph and his mother knew not of it. 44 But they, supposing him to have been in the company, went a day's journey; and they sought him among their kinsfolk and acquaintance. 45 And when they found him not, they turned back again to Jerusalem, seeking him.46 And it came to pass, that after three days they found him in the temple, sitting in the midst of the doctors, both hearing them, and asking them questions. 47 And all that heard him were astonished at his understanding and answers.

Now Mary and Joseph had started home thinking that Jesus was with others in the family. As they walked along it was common for the men to walk together with the men and the women to walk with the women. It wasn't until evening when Mary and Joseph came together that they noticed that Jesus was not with them.

They were a full day’s journey from Jerusalem or about twenty miles from the city. Mary and Joseph must have been sick with worry not knowing where Jesus was. Early the next morning Mary and Joseph hurried back to Jerusalem, but it was evening when they finally arrived. They searched three days before they found Jesus in the temple with the teachers of the law. All that heard Jesus were astonished at his understanding. How could a 12 year old child know so much about Jewish Law?

How could a 12 year old child know so much about Jewish Law? Now this is a very good question. Could it be that Jesus was not really 12 years old?

John 1:1,14 1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

The Word that was in the beginning took on the form of a human man. The Word that was in the beginning became the man Jesus. So was Jesus really just 12 years old or was he eternal having no beginning?

What do you think?

Pray for revival. - - Today let us pray for wisdom and leadership for the pastoral staff in dealing with the challenges of ministry, be they physical, emotional, or spiritual.

Jesus in the Temple #2

Luke 2:42 And when he was twelve years old, they went up to Jerusalem after the custom of the feast.

This was an exciting week for Jesus. Many new and exciting things were taking place. There was worship and sacrifices offered at the temple. This year Jesus would be able to participate.

Jesus must have walked through the city watching and looking at all that was taking place. Jesus knew that this was a special city and He knew that the Temple was a very special place. The Temple was very special because Jesus knew it was the House of His Father. When Jesus entered the Temple He noticed the teaching that was taking place.

Jesus was and is God in Incarnate, God in the form of a man. So when Jesus entered the temple it became a special time, a time of being in His Father’s house.

We no longer need to go to the temple or church to be in the Fathers house we are now the Fathers House.

1 Corinthians 6 :19 19 What? Know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?

What do you think?

Pray for revival. - - Today let us pray for a powerful anointing of the Holy Spirit upon our pastoral leadership.

August 7- - Jesus in the Temple #1

Luke 2:40 And the child grew, and waxed strong in spirit, filled with wisdom: and the grace of God was upon him.
Luke 2:41 Now his parents went to Jerusalem every year at the feast of the passover.
Luke 2:42 And when he was twelve years old, they went up to Jerusalem after the custom of the feast.

Each year men, woman and children made the journey to Jerusalem to celebrate the Passover. This year it was especially exciting for Jesus because He was 12 Years old. His twelfth year was when He would be considered a man and would begin to observe the laws required of all Jewish men

The Passover was a weeklong celebration marking the day God had freed the Hebrew people from slavery in Egypt. Moses, the servant of God, had asked Pharaoh to let the Hebrew people go but Pharaoh refused. It was God's will to set His people free so He brought terrible plagues upon Pharaoh and the Egyptians. Pharaoh continued to refuse in spite of these terrible plagues.

Then came the tenth plague. God warned that every first born child in Egypt would die if Pharaoh did not let the people go. God provided a way for His people to be saved from this plague of death. Each family was to sacrifice a perfect male lamb and place its blood around the door frame of their home. God said, “When I see the blood I will pass over you”.

The Passover is the perfect picture of the cross. Jesus is the Passover lamb and it is by the blood of Jesus, the Passover lamb that we enter into salvation. Salvation comes by the blood of the Passover Lamb, Jesus.

What do you think?

Pray for revival. - - Today let us pray that people throughout the city will open their hearts to the voice of God, and grasp that He has a loving and eternal plan for their lives.

August 6 - - Taking Care of the Father's Business #11

Jesus said we are to take care of the Family Business. He also said that He would gave us the Holy Spirit who gives us the power that enables us to do this.

John 14:16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;
John 14:17 Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.

Before Jesus returned to His place in Glory He told us that we are now to take care of the FAMILY BUSINESS. Not only did he tell us to take care of the FAMILY BUSINESS He also gave us what or I should say Who we needed to help us do it.

Jesus said, I will pray the Father and he shall give you another Comforter, another one of the same, one who is just like Me. Only this one, THE HOLY SPIRIT, will live in you. He will give you power to do what I have called you to do. He will lead and guide you in all truth. So we are to take care of the FAMILY BUSINESS by the indwelling power of the Holy Spirit.

Let us do a BUSINESS CHECK. Let’s look at the books and see how well the BUSINESS IS DOING.

Are we doing what God has called us to do? Before Jesus left he told us, His disciples, that we are now the ones to do the Fathers work. Jesus placed us in charge of the FAMILY BUSINESS.

What do you think?

Pray for revival. - - Today let us pray that our church services will be marked by displays of supernatural power, be it in healings, spiritual gifts, and lives that are dramatically changed by Jesus Christ.

August 5 - - Taking Care of the Father's Business #10

Taking care of the Father’s business requires us to be priests and intercessors.

It tell us in 1Peter 2:9 that we are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvelous light:?

We have been called out of darkness into His marvelous light. And now we are to take that light, His marvelous light, back into the darkness so that it might call others out.

Jesus said
Matthew 25:35 For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in:
Matthew 25:36 Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me.
Matthew 25:37 Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink?
Matthew 25:38 When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee?
Matthew 25:39 Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee?
Matthew 25:40 And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me

I have never seen thing so confused in all my life. It seems as though the church is doing what the world should be doing and the world is doing what the church should be doing. It is the churches responsibility to take care of the poor and those who are hurting. Jesus said as you do to the least of these you do unto Me. It is a disciple's responsibility to take care of the poor, the sick, those in prison and the homeless.

Few churches are taking care of the poor. Few churches have a program within the church where they feed and clothe those who are in need. Few churches ever visit a nursing home or even those within the fellowship who are sick. The shut-ins are seldom called or visited by most churches. According to this scripture it is the churches responsibility to take care of those who are in need.

What do you think?

Pray for revival. - - Today let us pray for the shut-ins in our church, as well as those who are widowed and living alone. Ask God to bless and encourage them, anointing their lives with power for ministry as well as help for the needs they face daily.

Taking care of the Father’s business requires us to be priests and intercessors. We are also called to intercede for those that have never accepted Jesus into their lives, the unbeliever.

Mark 16:15 And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to the whole creation.
Mark 16:16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that disbelieveth shall be condemned.

What does it mean preach or to proclaim the gospel? It could be simply speaking God’s Word and explaining what it means. It could mean telling a person what God has done for you in your life. It could be simply living such a life that a person would see Jesus in you.

We are to proclaim the gospel to the whole world. What is our whole world? It is that part of the world in which we live. The street we live on, the place where we work, the gym where we work out.

We are to be the Light of The World. The world is in darkness because of sin. It can no longer see the difference between right and wrong. Satan and his powers of darkness have blinded them. We are the light of the world. The light that Jesus has sent into the world to remove the darkness. We are the light that will enable the world to see its sin and come to Jesus. We are the light of the world and light always has power over darkness. When light comes in darkness always has to leave.

What do you think?

Pray for revival. - - Today let us pray that members of the congregation will convey a strong witness of the gospel to their community, through integrity, love, and godliness.

August 2 - Taking Care of the Father's Business #8

Taking care of the Father’s business requires us to be priests and intercessors. We are also called to intercede for those who are sick

Mark 16:18 - - - - they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.

We are to pray by laying hands on the sick. We are given the promise that they will recover.

James 5:14 Is any among you sick? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord:
James 5:15 and the prayer of faith shall save him that is sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, it shall be forgiven him.

If you are sick you are to call on the church to pray. Notice it says that you are the one who are to call for prayer. The church is to anoint you with oil in the name of Jesus. The prayer of faith will save the sick and the Lord will raise him up.

This is the Word of God and the Word of God must be 100% correct or none of it can be trusted. If we can’t believe all the Word we can’t believe any of the Word. If this part of God’s Word is not true how can we know the part I trust for my salvation is.

What do you think?

Pray for revival. - - Today let us pray for members of the congregation battling physical illness or emotional struggles, or facing spiritual needs. Ask God to minister to them in miraculous ways.

August 1 - Taking Care of the Father's Business #7

Taking care of the Father’s business requires us to be priests and intercessors. We are to intercede for those who are in Christ but also for those who are not in Christ, for all men.

1Tim 2:1 I exhort therefore, first of all, that supplications, prayers, intercessions, thanksgivings, be made for all men;
1Ti 2:2 for kings and all that are in high place; that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and gravity.

It tells us in Timothy that we are to pray and intercede for all men both Christians and non- Christians. We are to pray prayers of supplication and also prayers of thanksgiving, we are to pray for kings and those in high places. That would be our President, Congressmen, Senators, Governors and Mayors. It even tells us what to pray. Pray that they will provide for us a quiet life in all godliness and gravity.

A great way to intercede is to do a prayer walk. A pray walk is a great way to pray for the need of those around us. Simply walk through the neighborhood and pray for each house. Pray for their needs. If they are not saved pray for their salvation. Pray for their health. Pray for the father, mother and for the children. When you’re driving and stopped at a red light pray for that person in the car in front of you or the one in back. If we don't pray for them it is most likely no one will.

What do you think?

Pray for revival. - - Today let us pray that God will provide for those who are hurting and in need, both locally and nationally. Ask that He move on the hearts of believers to help meet needs in as much as they are able to do so.

July 31 - Taking Care of the Father's Business #6

Taking care of the Father’s business requires us to be priests and intercessors

1Pe 2:9 But ye are an elect race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God’s own possession, that ye may shew forth the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light:

If we are indeed a Royal Priesthood then we need to know the roll of a priest. A priest is a person that stands in the gap between God and another person. A priest takes another’s persons place before God. A priest is an intercessor. A good picture of this would be a Lawyer standing in a court of Low defending a person being accused of a crime.

We are first of all to be intercessors for those who are in Christ this would be the Church.

Eph 6:18 with all prayer and supplication praying at all seasons in the Spirit, and watching thereunto in all perseverance and supplication for all the saints,

We are to intercede in prayer for all the saints. We are to pray on behalf of those who are in Christ. Prayer is a very serious thing. When a person asks you to pray they are in need and are depending on you to go before God on their behalf. When we go before God on behalf of another person we are acting as a priest.

What do you think?

Pray for revival. - - Today let us pray that the lives of our pastoral staff will be marked by integrity and godliness.

July 30 - Taking Care of the Father's Business #5

Leviticus 25:8,13-14 The Year of Jubilee 8 “And you shall count seven weeks of years, seven times seven years, so that the time of the seven weeks of years shall be to you forty-nine years.
13 “In this year of jubilee each of you shall return to his property. 14 And if you sell to your neighbor or buy from your neighbor, you shall not wrong one another.

The Year of Jubilee was a time of forgiveness. A picture of the “acceptable year of the Lord. The “acceptable year of the Lord” is a time of forgiveness. The forgiveness of sin through the Blood of Jesus.

Luke 2:13-14
13 And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, 14 Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.

The angles proclaimed the “year of the Lord” when they announced to the to the shepherd’s “Peace on Earth Good Will to Man”. The peace the angles were proclaiming was peace between God and man. Jesus brought this peace. This was the first time that this could have been said since Adam sinned in the garden Therefor this was the first acceptable year of the Lord since Adam sinned.

What do you think?

Pray for revival. - - Today let us pray that strained or broken relationships, among families and friends as well as acquaintances, will be restored.

July 29 - Taking Care of the Father's Business #4

Isaiah 61:1-2 The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me; because the LORD hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound;2 To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all that mourn;

So what is the Fathers Business? We have already looked at Luke 4 where Jesus stood up in the synagogue and read these words from the Book of Isaiah 61.

What we do not need to overlook is that when Jesus read from this book of Isaiah He stopped short. Jesus did not read the last part of verse 2. Jesus said that He come to proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord and Jesus proclaimed it in His ministry and in His death on the cross but Jesus will come again to fulfill the second part of this verse. When Jesus comes the second time Jesus will proclaim the day of vengeance.

So what is the “acceptable year of the Lord”? Or I should say WHO is the “acceptable year of the Lord”?

What do you think?

Pray for revival. - - Today let us pray for members of the congregation battling physical illness or emotional struggles, or facing spiritual needs. Ask God to minister to them in miraculous ways.

2Cor 5:20 20 Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ's stead, be ye reconciled to God.

We are to be Ambassadors.

One of the job of an ambassador is to make the person or the country that they represent look good. We are to make Jesus look good. Every place we go we are to make Jesus look good. When we go to the store we are to make Jesus look good. When we go to work we are to make Jesus look good. In everything we do we are to make Jesus look good.

Our lives are to be a testimony as to who Jesus is. People should be able to see Jesus in us. We are to proclaim the Gospel in what we say but we are also to proclaim the Gospel in the way we live.

What do you think?

Pray for revival. - - Today let us pray that our church services will be marked by displays of supernatural power, be it in healings, spiritual gifts, and lives that are dramatically changed by Jesus Christ.

July 26 - - Taking Care of the Father's Business #2

Matthew 28:18-20
18 And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.
19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

Jesus has returned to the Father but before he left He said that we are now to take care of the Father's Business. We are now the ones who are to do the Father's work.

John 14:12 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.

Jesus tells us that if we are believers in Jesus, born again by the blood of Jesus, that the works that He did we are now to do. We are now to take care of the Fathers Business. We are now Ambassadors for the Father.

WOW did you see this. Jesus said it I didn’t.

What do you think?

Pray for revival. - - Today let us pray that visitors to the church will sense the love and compassion of Christ, expressed through every member of the congregation.

July 25 - - Taking Care of the Father's Business #1

Luke 2:49 And he said unto them, How is it that ye sought me? wist ye not that I must be about my Father's business?

Jesus came to do the work of the Father. So what is the work of the Father?

Luke 4:18 The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,
Luke 4:19 To preach the acceptable year of the Lord.
Luke 4:21 And he began to say unto them, This day is this scripture fulfilled in your ears.

We see from the scripture that the work of the Father was to preach the gospel to the poor, heal the broken hearted, preach deliverance to the captives, recover sight to the blind, set at liberty them that are bruised, and to preach the acceptable year of the Lord.

What do you think?

Pray for revival. - - Today let us pray that Christ will be at the center of every ministry, service, and event that takes place within the church and congregation.

July 24- - Jesus Changes Water into Wine #8

Joh 2:11 This beginning of miracles did Jesus in Cana of Galilee, and manifested forth his glory; and his disciples believed on him.

It said it was the beginning of miracles not the ending. I believe God is still in the changing business and God is still in the miracle business.

There were six water pots and each is believed to have held six galleon of water. Mary prayed, Jesus "They have no wine" and Jesus gave her 36 gallons of the very best. I’ll say that again, Jesus gave her 36 GALLONS OF THE VERY BEST.

Jesus always gives the very best.

John 2:8 And he saith unto them, Draw out now, and bear unto the governor of the feast. And they bare it.

I don't know what the servants were thinking as they took what they thought was water to the governor of the feast. But again they did what Jesus told them to do.

John 2:9 When the ruler of the feast had tasted the water that was made wine, and knew not whence it was: (but the servants which drew the water knew;) the governor of the feast called the bridegroom,
John 2:10 And saith unto him, Every man at the beginning doth set forth good wine; and when men have well drunk, then that which is worse: but thou hast kept the good wine until now.

"Saved the best till last", how does the old song go. "Every day with Jesus is sweeter then the day before". We could say everyday with Jesus is better than the day before.

John 14:2 In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.

Jesus said behold I go to prepare a place for you and when it is ready I come again. When I come again I will take you to this place that where I am you may be also. JESUS SAVED THE BEST TILL LAST.

What do you think?

July 22 - - Jesus Changes Water into Wine #6

John 2:6 And there were set there six waterpots of stone, after the manner of the purifying of the Jews, containing two or three firkins apiece.

The water jugs were at the door to provide water for the washing of the hands and feet. The servants were there to pour the water on the hands and feet of those attending the wedding as they entered the door.

John 2:7 Jesus saith unto them, Fill the waterpots with water. And they filled them up to the brim.

Jesus did not use empty vessels, they needed to be filled. We are told that we are the vessel of the Holy Spirit and we too must be filled before God can use us.

Jesus is in the changing business. Jesus changed the water into wine and he changed me, a lost sinner into a child of God.

What do you think?

John 2:5 His mother saith unto the servants, Whatsoever he saith unto you, do it.

Mary said, whatever Jesus tells you to do you do it. In the book of James it says almost the same thing "be doers of the Word and not hears only". Jesus is the Word.

John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
Joh 1:14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

We are to be doers of Jesus. These were the last words of Mary that are recorded in the Bible, "Do what Jesus tells you to do"

Mary’s famous last words - - “DO WHAT JESUS TELLS YOU TO DO”

What do you think?

John 2:4 Jesus saith unto her, Woman, what have I to do with thee? mine hour is not yet come.

Jesus said mine hour is not yet come. The work of the Father was to be done in the Fathers time. It may have been Jesus way of telling Mary that he was not here to provide wine for a marriage but to be the wine of the new covenant the wine of salvation for a world.

Whatever the reason Jesus answered her prayer. Jesus is in the prayer answering business.

John 4:4 Jesus saith unto her, Woman, what have I to do with thee? mine hour is not yet come.

Now we need to realize that Jesus had not preformed any miracles or sings until now. Mary had no way of knowing if it were even possible for Jesus to do anything. We know this to be true because of what it says in verse eleven.

11 This beginning of miracles did Jesus in Cana of Galilee, and manifested forth his glory; and his disciples believed on him.

Since Jesus had never done any signs. Mary had no way of knowing if He would or if He could. Mary did know that Jesus was born of a virgin and that He was the Son of God. She had enough faith to know that God did care and in His caring he could and would do something.

God does care, God cares for you and God cares for me and in His caring He will hear our cry and will do what needs to be done.

What do you think?

Pray for revival. - - Today let us pray that believers throughout the church will grow in relationship with Christ as they follow the path of discipleship. Ask your friends to pray for revival with you.

So that you may know.
For those of you that have been praying with me for revival I would like for you to know that things are beginning to happen. I received a phone call this morning telling me that in one of our large churches in the city last night a deacon meeting last night turned into a prayer meeting. Men on their knees crying out to God for the movement of the Holy Spirit. I feel this is only the beginning keep praying and believing.

July 17 - - Jesus Changes Water into Wine #3

John 2:3 And when they wanted wine, the mother of Jesus saith unto him, They have no wine.

Now an invitation was not need to attend the wedding so there was no way of knowing how much food or wine was needed. Not knowing how many to prepare for could have been the reason they run out of wine. The fact they were out of wine and now what were they to do? There was no seven eleven to run to.

Have you ever felt like there was no answer to your problem? No place to go, no one who cared.

Mary took the problem to Jesus. Where do we take our problems? Is Jesus the first place we go for help or is He the last. Too often we try everything else then when all fails we pray.

Mary prayed first

John 2:3 And when they wanted wine, the mother of Jesus saith unto him, They have no wine.

The marriage feast of Cana is about of a group of people who were having a problem. Now all the food had been prepared and the guest had arrived. At the time of Christ it was the responsibly of the groom to provide food and drink for the wedding. Jewish wedding would often last for seven days.

We don't know how long the wedding feast has been in progress but we do know that they have run out of wine. Nothing worse could have happened then to run out of wine. This would have brought disgrace to the family. This would have been so bad that in the time of Christ the bride's family had grounds for a law suit against the groom’s family.

John 2:3 - - - - the mother of Jesus saith unto him, They have no wine.

We can learn a lot from Mary. Mary know where to go with the problem, she went to Jesus.

Where do we go with our problems?

What do you think?

July 15 - - Jesus Changes Water into Wine #1

John 2:1 And the third day there was a marriage in Cana of Galilee; and the mother of Jesus was there:
John 2:2 And both Jesus was called, and his disciples, to the marriage.

Isn't it strange that Jesus should begin his public ministry at a marriage feast? The first thing God did in the garden after He created Adam and Eve was to marry them. Even before the Church there was Marriage.

Genesis 2: 23 And Adam said this is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man.
Genesis 2: 24 Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.

Marriage was in the beginning and Jesus keeps it there by placing it in the beginning of His ministry.

God created the world and then God created marriage.

Pray for revival. - - Today let us pray for marriages and family relationships in our church. That they will be strengthened and that our family will be drown close to Christ. - - Ask your friends to pray for this revival with you.

July 13 - - Pray for revival #8

Today I would like for us to pray for our Country. If revival is going to come it will come through the believer.

2 Chronicles 714 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

Pray for the President and cabinet, that they will look to God for guidance, help, and wisdom.

Pray for members of the U. S. Congress and Senate, including our own, asking God to provide for them and help them. Pray as well that they will look to God for direction and guidance as they help to lead the nation.

Pray for our court system, locally as well as the state courts and the U. S. Supreme Court. Ask God’s blessing and guidance upon judges, and that they would look to Him for help and direction.

Pray for God’s protection and provision for our military. Ask that He especially bless and protect those serving in dangerous places and performing dangerous jobs. Ask for His blessing on soldiers and their families as they deal with issues of separation and loneliness.

Pray for a supernatural move of God across our nation, bringing a new sense of revival and trust in God

Although this is the last post on praying for reveal I would like you to continue to pray with me. I know God will hear our cry and will bring the much needed revival. Pray with me until revival comes.

Ask your friends to pray for this revival with you.

What do you think?

2 Chronicles 7:14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

If the problem is sin and if we want to see God bring this country back to Himself? Then we need to humble ourselves and pray, we need to seek God’s face and we need to turn from our wicked ways.

Do we believe in God enough to do what he has just asked us to do? Are we ready to humble ourselves to God? Are we ready to give ourselves to God in Prayer? Are we ready to turn from our wicked ways and repent?

God say if we will Then He will - - - This is revival.

Will you pray with me for a calling back of this country to God? As bad as we want revival God wants it even more.

July 1 - - Man seeking after his own way. #7

2 Chronicles 7:14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

The problem that the world is having is the results of sin. Man seeking after his own way. No regard for the other person. No regard for God.

The world is looking for that one thing that will make them happy, the one thing that will bring fulfillment to their lives. So the world is trying all kinds of things to bring this about.

It’s like that little game that babies play, where they try to put the right pegs in the right hole. There is an empty hole in everyone’s life. We are searching for that one thing that will fill that hole and make us truly happy. So we try fitting it with ---- Money, Sports, New Cars, drugs and yes even sex but none of these things will fit because that place in our hearts is reserved only one thing and that one thing that will fit that emptiness in our lives is the true God Jesus. Only Jesus will bring true happiness.

Notice, it says “my people who are called by my name” God is speaking to the church in this scripture. We can’t expect the world to repent until we the church repents.

What do you think?

June 29 - - pray and seek my face #6

2 Chronicles 7:14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

What does it mean when it says “pray and seek my face”. When we seek Gods face it means that we are seeking God. We are not trying to bring God to our wants and our desires but we are bringing ourselves to God wants and Gods desires. When we seek Gods face it is turning our attention toward God and turning our attention away from ourselves.

“Thy will be done on earth as it is in Heaven.” Matthew 6:10

June 28 - - “humble themselves and pray” #5

2 Chronicles 7:14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

Prayer, Wow that’s a big word. Prayer brings God into the situation. Prayer enables God to do what needs to be done. And when we pray for others it also brings us closer to God and when the Church prays for others it brings the Church closer to God.

Now I’m not talking about a prayer I’m talking about praying. I’m talking about crying out to God asking God to intercede and bring about the changes that needs to take place in order to bring this country back to God.

How many of us truly believe that prayer will bring our country back to God?

Prayer always brings change.

June 27 - - “humble themselves.” #4

2 Chronicles 7:14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

The first thing God tells us to do is “humble ourselves.” If my people, which are called by my name shall humble themselves,

Humbling ourselves is a surrendering of ourselves to God. We need to come to a place where we understand that if anything is going to happen then it will have to come from God. We don’t like to admit that we can’t handle the problem. Especially men, we like to be in control. We often will try everything before we even think about calling on God.

Big News, There is no way that we can take a problem as large as our community, our City or our Country and solve it. Yet we try. We elect men who we believe will make the change. We make laws and change the laws we have, believing this will make the change. We might see some results but this will not solve the problem. The only solution to the world’s problems is God, because the real problem in the world is sin.

June 26 - - Which are called by my name #3

2 Chronicles 7:14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

This scripture is given to those who are called by God’s name. This speaks of a covenant relationship with God. When a covenant was cut between two persons several things took place. The two persons would exchange garments, weapons, and then they would exchange names. God is reminding us of the fact that He has made a covenant with us. This was done when Jesus became the covenant sacrifice on the cross. God is speaking to those who are called by His name.

Wow I would like for you to stop and think about this statement for just a moment. We are called by God’s name. We are children of God, sons and daughters of God. Just as we carry the name of our earthly father we also carry the name of our heavenly father.

Wow that is about as good as it can get

June 25 - - If my people, #2

2 Chronicles 7:14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

Whenever we look at a scripture we first need to look at who the scripture is addressed to. It’s like going to the mailbox and taking out a letter. We first look at the envelope to see who it is addressed to then if it’s addressed to us we open it.

This scripture is addressed to us. It has our name on it, if my people. I love the term that the scriptures use here, My people. I feel a real sense of security knowing that I belong to God. Jesus died for the whole world but it is only those that accept it by faith that are called My people, the ones that belong to God.

God said “If my people” God has chosen to bring about this revival through the ones He calls “My people”

June 24 - - What will it take to get our community, our City, our Country back to God? #1

Wow! What a question.

Do you believe that we need a revival in our country? You might be saying yes we do need revival but it will take more than I can give and I believe you would be right. Our very best is nothing-------- apart from the power of the Holy Spirit.

Nothing will happen until our hearts are right with God. If anything is going to change it will take an act of God. It will take a revival movement in our country. It will take coming back to God.

2 Chronicles 7:14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

For the next few days I thought we might look at this question and contemplate what we as a Christian must do in order to bring about revival in our country.

June 22 - - What is the fruit that the vine is to produce? #6

John 15:1 I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman.
John 15:2 Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit.

(Galatians 5:22-23) 22.But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, (23) gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.

There is a simple truth here: As abider's in the vine we are to bear fruit and the fruit that we are to bear is Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness and faithfulness So if we are going to produce a God kind of love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness and faithfulness then we need to take hold of Jesus and don’t let go. As long as we have hold of Jesus we will produce the fruit of the Holy Spirit.

Oh yes! We need to look at the promise attached to this parable.

John 15:7 If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.

Wow! ----Ask what you will and it shall be done, all we need do is to abide in Jesus the Vine.

What do you think?

June 21 - - The Vine Dresser #5

John 15:1 I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman.
John 15:2 Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit.

Jesus is the vine, we are the branches and God is the vine dresser. The work of the vine dresser is to care for the vine. Vines have two kinds of branches --those that bear fruit and those that do not bear fruit. The non-bearing branches must be carefully pruned back in order for the vine to give its strength to the branches that bear fruit.

What are the branches in our lives that do not bear fruit? Anything we do that hinders us from doing God’s work. These things in themselves may not be wrong, but they keep you from doing the things that God would have you do.

You might say I do not have time to read my Bible. What is this thing that is consuming your time, keeping you from reading your Bible? That is the branch that needs to be pruned away

What are the branches in our lives that need to be pruned?

What do you think?

June 20 - - Remain attached to the Vine #4

John 15:1 I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman.
John 15:2 Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit.

The work of the branch in order to produce fruit is to stay attached to the vine. I taught this once in Children's Church. I told the children that on my way to church I was passing an apple tree and herd the most awful noise. I told them that I stopped the car and walked over to the tree to see what was going on. I told them the tree was working so hard trying to produce apples.

Thin I told them how silly that was. Everyone knows that all the apple tree branch has to do in order to have apples is to stay attached to the tree. No work at all just hangs on to the tree.

The same holds true for our Christian walk with Jesus. We work so hard trying to be a Christian when all the time Jesus is telling us all we need do is remain attached to the Vine.

So if we’re going to live the Christian life and do the Christian works what we need do is take hold of Jesus and don’t let go.

You see it’s as simple as this - - we stay attached to Jesus and Jesus does His works through us.

What do you think?

June 19 - - Jesus is the Vine we are the branches #3

John 15:1 I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman.
John 15:2 Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit

“Jesus is the Vine we are the branches of the vine” The Vine does its work through the branches. The Vine produces it fruit through the branches. But apart from the Vine the branch will die.

The purpose of the branch is to produce fruit. If the branch is going to produce fruit it must be attached to the vine. The life of the branch comes from the vine and apart from the vine it has no life. I have never seen a branch broken away from the vine bear fruit. So the first thing we need to do is to be sure we are attached to the vine. Remember Jesus is the vine and we are the branches.

I had a pastor one say “Take hold of Jesus and don’t leave go”. The works of a Christian and the growth of a Christian comes only by taking hold of Jesus and not letting go. If we’re going to produce the fruit of the Holy Spirit then we need to stay attached to the Vine.

June 18 - - Jesus is the true Vine #2

John 15:1 I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman.

Jesus speaks of himself as the true vine. Grapevines were common for the Jewish people at the time of Christ. Israel was covered with numerous vineyards. A man’s vineyard determined a man wealth.

Jesus speaks of himself as the true vine. If Jesus is the true vine then there must be vines that are not true vines. All vines do not produce grapes. Neither do all religions produce salvation. Jesus makes it clear that no one can enter into Heaven by any other means than by Him.

Some believe that if they are good enough then they will go to Heaven. Others believe that having a mother or a father that is a Christian that will take them to Heaven. Others believe that by doing good works, helping those in need, working in a nursing home or feeding the homeless will provide salvation.

Even though all of these things are good and commendable they will not take you to Heaven. It’s only by faith in the Lord Jesus Christ that one can be grafted into the true vine. Jesus offers us true life --Abundant life, a new life that comes only from God, a life that will produce good fruit.

Jesus said “I am the True Vine”

June 17 - - Abiding in the Vine #1

John 15:1 I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman.
John 15:2 Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit.

Many times Jesus used parables in his teaching. A parable is taking something earthly and using it to teach something spiritual. Using something that we know to teach us something we don’t know.

The parable we are about to look at is found in the 15th Chapter of John’s Gospel. This was the last parable that was taught by Jesus. Jesus taught this parable as He sat together with His disciples at the Lord’s Supper table.

The book of John covers basically the last two weeks of the life of Jesus. We spend four chapters in John's gospel at the Lords Supper table, John chapter 13 to 16.

This parable speaks of a vine, a branch and a vine dresser. In this parable Jesus allows us to picture Him as the True Vine. Not the Son of God, not the Creator, not the Savior, but a vine.

For the next few days I thought we might look together at this parable.

June 15- - They Are Because We Are

1 Kings 15 verse 26 "But he did what was evil in the LORD's sight and followed the example of his father, continuing the sins of idolatry that Jeroboam had led Israel to commit."

The key word in this verse is example. I think sometimes we can forget that every action we take is an example to others. We are either exampling godly behavior or ungodly behavior. Obviously Jeroboam exampled ungodly behavior - and unfortunately, since he was king of Israel, his bad example had far-reaching effects.

Even though we are not kings, I do believe that our examples have a bigger impact than we realize. Our kids, our parents, our neighbors, our co-workers, the stranger on the street, the person at the coffee shop, are all watching what we do. How we behave. Our very lives are examples to many people each and every day.

What type of example are we setting by the way we live?

June 13- - Jesus has the table spread #7

"I tell you, I will not drink of this fruit of the vine from now on until that day when I drink it anew with you in my Father's kingdom." Matthew 26:29

At this Banquet We Shall See Jesus Face to Face

As I think about that Great Banquet, the time of "entering into the joy of our Lord I look forward to this promise given to me by Jesus. "I tell you, I will not drink of this fruit of the vine from now on until that day when I drink it anew with you in my Father's kingdom."

This is clearly shown to us in this great old gospel Hymn

Revelation 19:9 9 And he saith unto me, Write, Blessed are they which are called unto the marriage supper of the Lamb. And he saith unto me, These are the true sayings of God.

Wow! What a great promise. Jesus is the Lamb of God and the bride is the Church.

It says “Blessed are those who are invited” The invitation has been sent to each of us but we must RSVP and the way we do this is by accepting Jesus and His teaching. We must invite Jesus into our lives.

Have you RSVP.

June 11 - - Jesus will provide the Wedding Garment #5

Revelation 19:8 8 And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white: for the fine linen is the righteousness of saints.

It says “. Fine linen, clean and white, was given her to wear. “ The fine linen, clean and white, that we will be wearing at the great feast before the thrown of God will be the righteousness of God given to us by Jesus at the cross.

2 Corinthians 5:21 For he has made him, who knew no sin, to be sin for us; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

Jesus will do it all. Jesus will prepare the meal and Jesus will also provide the wedding garment that we are to wear. Our part in this is to simply accept the invitation. We do this by accepting Jesus and His teachings into our lives.

June 10- - Marriage Feast of the Lamb and His Church #4

"On this mountain the LORD Almighty will prepare a feast of rich food for all (His) peoples, a banquet of aged wine--the best of meats and the finest of wines. On this mountain he will destroy the shroud that enfolds all peoples, the sheet that covers all nations; he will swallow up death forever. The Sovereign LORD will wipe away the tears from all faces; he will remove the disgrace of his people from all the earth." (Isaiah 25:6-8)

We find the prophecy of this banquet in the Old and New Testament and we see this prophecy being fulfilled in the Book of Revelation at the Marriage Supper of the Lamb and His Church (Revelation 19:9).

And he saith unto me, Write, Blessed are they that are bidden to the marriage supper of the Lamb. And he saith unto me, These are true words of God. Revelation 19:9

I love the last part of this verse “These are true words of God” . We have the promise of God that if we are true believers in Jesus that someday we will be seated at this great table in the presence of God.

How good can it get?

June 8 - - In Heaven there will be “The Great Feast” #3

"I tell you, I will not drink of this fruit of the vine from now on until that day when I drink it anew with you in my Father's kingdom." Matthew 26:29

With this promise, given to us by Jesus, we can look forward to the great Heavenly banquet that is being prepared. The celebration of the Lords Supper with Jesus, the disciples and the saints before the thrown of God.

So I want us to take our eyes from the Lords Supper table here on earth to the Lords Supper table before the thrown of Grace in Heaven.

Let us look together for the next few days at this great feast that God has prepared for us.

June 7 - - Heaven is a real place #2

John 14:3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I come again, and will receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.

A lot of people picture Heaven as a pie in the sky by and by. A cloud that we float on with this harp that we will be playing. Not so, that’s not what the bible tells us about Heaven.

Heaven is a real place. In fact it is more real than the place we are living in right now. The place we live in now it only temporal but Heaven is eternal.

Heaven is a heavenly city, with light, water, fruit trees and streets made of pure gold. I heard it once said that this is the only place that we can have streets made of pure gold and not have someone steal them. You see that is because there will be no sin in Heaven.

June 6 - - Heaven will be an eternal place #1

John 14:3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I come again, and will receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.

This place that Jesus is preparing will be an eternal place. Everything in it will be eternal, no more replacing hot water heaters. No more repairing the roof. No more painting the shutters or gutters. Everything about Heaven will be eternal.

But the best part about this eternal place is that we will be with Jesus.

When this mansion is ready then Jesus will come again and He will receive us unto himself. You see Jesus has given us the promise that when we enter into, this eternal place of heaven that he will be there to receive us. That means that in Heaven the first person I will see will be Jesus.

If you believe in Jesus and receive His teachings then this place called Heaven is yours.

June 5 - - Let not your hearts be troubled #8

John 14:2 In my Father's house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you; for I go to prepare a place for you.

Jesus not only provides for our need here on earth but He said that He would also provide a place for us in Heaven.

Jesus goes on to tell us why we are not to be troubled. We are not to be troubled because this life is only temporal. Jesus says that the big picture is yet to come. In my Father’s house are many mansions and I am preparing one for you. When it is ready I will come and take you to it and there you will be with me for eternity.

The big picture is Heaven. Being with Jesus in the presence of the Father. No more worry no more tears no more sickness and no more death. No more $4 dollar a gallon gasoline. No more worry about losing our jobs. I cannot comprehend the greatness of what this will to be. I have the words of Jesus that the place that He is preparing for us will be a mansion within His Father’s house.

June 4 - - Let not your hearts be troubled #7

Do not worry about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. —Philippians 4:6

It seems that we need to make a choice. We can worry or we can pray

If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. (2nd Chronicle 14)

I do believe our land is in need of a healing. We do know what we need to do?

What do you think?

Proverbs 15

15 A soft answer turneth away wrath: but grievous words stir up anger.

2 The tongue of the wise useth knowledge aright: but the mouth of fools poureth out foolishness.

3 The eyes of the Lord are in every place, beholding the evil and the good.

4 A wholesome tongue is a tree of life: but perverseness therein is a breach in the spirit.

5 A fool despiseth his father's instruction: but he that regardeth reproof is prudent.

6 In the house of the righteous is much treasure: but in the revenues of the wicked is trouble.

7 The lips of the wise disperse knowledge: but the heart of the foolish doeth not so.

8 The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination to the Lord: but the prayer of the upright is his delight.

June 3 - - Let not your hearts be troubled #6

Do not worry about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. —Philippians 4:6

What if the energy we spend on worrying was spent in prayer what do you suppose would happen? I’m not talking about saying a prayer I’m talking about opening our hearts to the Holy One whenever a worry, a care, or a fear finds its way into our lives.

Instead of worrying about having enough money, or worrying about our children, or if we will accomplish all the things we need to do. What if we applied all that effort to prayer, to trusting God to take care of us, what do you think would happen?

There is a little song I use to sing with the children.

"Why worry, when you can pray?
Trust Jesus, He'll be your stay.
Don't be a doubting Thomas,
Rest fully on His promise,
Why worry, worry, worry, worry when you can pray?"

What do you think?

I cannot let this scripture pass without looking at the old Hymn I Must Tell Jesus. Let us look together at the words to this old Hymn.

Verse 1:
I must tell Jesus all of my trials,
I cannot bear these burdens alone;
in my distress He kindly will help me,
He ever loves and cares for His own.
Chorus:
I must tell Jesus! I must tell Jesus!
I cannot bear my burdens alone;
I must tell Jesus! I must tell Jesus!
Jesus can help me, Jesus alone.

Do not worry about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. —Philippians 4:6

We are told “let our hearts be troubled”, not to be “anxious for anything” and now in this scripture we are told “do not worry”

I recall when I was a child I had not a worry in the world and now it seem I have all the worries in the world. Have you ever felt like that?

What has changed? Well when I was a child I had complete dependence upon my parents to take care of me but now instead of depending upon another I now depend upon myself.

Well God has the answer. God says that instead of depending upon another person or depending upon ourselves we need to depend upon Him. We are told in this scripture that instead of worry we should apply our efforts toward prayer.

“But in everything” now the word everything means everything, food, closing, our children, the job, the car, house payments and even $4 a gallon gasoline.

“But in everything, by prayer, by supplication and by thanksgiving let your request be made know to God.

Matthew 6:33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

We are told to believe in God and to believe in Jesus now we are told to seek after His kingdom, and His righteous.

We are to give God proper place in our lives, we are to do what is right and then we have the promise that God will supply all our needs. All is such a big word. All means ALL, everything as in leaving nothing out. That would be food, clothing, even four dollar a gallon gasoline.

This is a conditional promise that means God will if we will. God will provide if we seek after Him and His righteousness.

Wow, now I can live with that!

May 29 - - Let not your hearts be troubled #2
Matthew 6:25 Therefore I say unto you, be not anxious for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than the food, and the body than the raiment? 26 Behold the birds of the heaven, that they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; and your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are not ye of much more value then they?
31 Therefore take no thought, saying, what shall we eat? Or, what shall we drink? Or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed?
33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

First we are told “Let not your hearts be troubled”: here we are told not to be “anxious for anything”.

We are to believe that God is God and able to do what God said He would do. Jesus gives us this assurance in Matthew the six chapter.

It tells us here not to be anxious as to what we are going to eat or what we are going to wear. Jesus tells us that if God is able to take care of the birds, which have little or no value how much more, will He take care of us who has great value.

Jesus goes on to tell us that life is “much more then food or clothing”. If we spend all our efforts on food and clothing then we are messing the whole meaning of life. Life is seeking the kingdom of God and the righteousness of God.

What dose it profit a man if he gain the whole world and lose his soul (Matthew 16:26). Seek after the things of God and God will take care of us.

May 28 - - Let not your hearts be troubled #1
One of my favorite verses is found in John Gospel the 14th chapter.

Let not your heart be troubled: believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father's house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you; for I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I come again, and will receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also. (John 14:1-3)

We are living in a world where it is not hard for your heart to be troubled. Gas is four dollars a gallon; grocery prices have increased as much as fifty percent. It seems as if everything has increased except our wages. With such going on around us it’s not hard to have a troubled heart. But Jesus says let not your heart be troubled.

Jesus goes on to give us the secret of remaining calm in a troubled world. Jesus tells us to believe in God and to believe also in Him.

I suppose it all depends who’s our sore of provision is. If the world is our source of provision then I suppose our hearts will be troubled but if God is our source of provision then we have the assurance that God will take care of us.

May 27 - - Heaven is a Wonderful Place

Straightway I was in the Spirit: and behold, there was a throne set in heaven, and one sitting upon the throne; and he that sat was to look upon like a jasper stone and a sardius: and there was a rainbow round about the throne, like an emerald to look upon. And round about the throne were four and twenty thrones: and upon the thrones I saw four and twenty elders sitting, arrayed in white garments; and on their heads crowns of gold. And out of the throne proceed lightnings and voices and thunders. And there were seven lamps of fire burning before the throne, which are the seven Spirits of God; and before the throne, as it were a sea of glass like a crystal; - - -. (Revelation 4:2-6)

The older I get the more I think about Heaven and what it must be like. The Bible says, the streets are made of gold, but then this being Heaven who would expect less then gold. The Bible also says, before the thrown there is a crystal sea. It speaks of mansions as dwelling places. Also there will be worship, not as we know worship now but true worship before the thrown of God. It is almost imposable for the human mind to comprehend such a place and yet we know it is there.

A boy stood on a windy hillside, flying a kite. He continued to release the string of the kite and it went higher and higher until it was completely out of sight. One of his friends walked up and asked how he knew there was still a kite on the other end. He replied. "I know it's there I feel it tugging on the line." Like the kite, we know Heaven is there because we feel it tugging at our heart! (author unknown)

May 25 - - A person of many hats #5

John 13:35 By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another. This is the hat that God has called us to wear as Christians. A hat called LOVE.

God showed us this kind of love.

John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

God gave His only son to die on the cross in my place. Such love I have never seen before.

You know I don’t believe that I have reached that God kind of love. I don’t think I could say that, I Herb loved the world so much that I would gave my son. Not my son Mike or my son Ken. No I don’t think I could do this. But you see this is the kind of love that God showed for us at the cross. He gave his only son Jesus to take our place on the cross for our sins.

“So they will know you are my disciples by your love.” If I am to have this kind of love it will have to be done by God living in me, God loving others through me.

Lord God I do give you permission to live and love others through me. Lord uses my hands to touch those you wish to touch. Use my mouth to speak to those you wish to speak. Use my ears to listen to those who are hurting and my feet to go to those who are in need. Teach me to be that person you would have me to be.

John 13:35 By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another. This is the hat that God has called us to wear as Christians. A hat called LOVE.

Matthew 22:36 Master, which is the great commandment in the law?
Matthew 22:37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.
Matthew 22:38 This is the first and great commandment.
Matthew 22:39 And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

Love your neighbor as much as you love yourself. I love myself an awful lot. In fact it would be safe to say I love myself more then I love anyone else. But Jesus says I need to love others more. I can see that this is not going to be easy to do.

You see if I have only one dollar in my pocket and I am hungry I will think nothing of spending it on something to eat. But if I have only one dollar in my pocket and see someone who says they are hungry will I spend that last dollar on them?

When I can answer yes to this question then I will know that I love my neighbor as much as I love myself.

I believe that when I come to a place in my life that I love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind then and only then will I be able to love thy neighbor as thyself. I believe the two are joined together, loving God and loving thy neighbor.

John 13:35 By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another. This is the hat that God has called us to wear as Christians. A hat called LOVE.

1Corinthians 13:4 Love suffereth long, and is kind; love envieth not; love vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up,
1Corinthians 13:5 doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not its own, is not provoked, taketh not account of evil;

We see here that Love is giving not receiving. Our love is not based on how others treat us, but how we treat others. It is loving others regardless of their love for us. This is the God kind of love. (Romans 5:8) 8 but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

I know this kind of love is hard. It means that we will have to put ourselves aside and put others first. It may require a change in the way we think and the way we behave.

It may require allowing Jesus that lives in us to love others through us.

John 13:34 A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.
John 13:35 By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.

I recall once before I was a Christian I was at the ball field with my son watching Him play ball. Or I should say hoping I could watch him play ball because all he was doing was sitting on the bench. After a time of watching I became very annoyed with the coach. So I decided that if he didn’t play soon, and I meant very soon, I was going to tell that coach what I thought of his coaching.

As it was he didn’t play at all so I keep the promise to myself and called the coach aside. I told him in so many words just what I thought of his coaching. The coach said nothing till I was finished then he looked at me and said I apologize to you for making you so angry. I have no right to anger a person the way I have angered you.

Notice he didn’t apologize for not putting my son in the game but he apologized for making me angry. I went back to the bench and sat down. I looked at my wife and told her “that man is a Christian”.

Not once did He tell me about Jesus or did he invite me to church. All he did was wear his hat of love. He showed his love and concern for me. This is how he showed me he was a Christian.

This is an excellent picture of Christian Love. You see Christian love doesn’t depend on how people treat you it is how you treat them.
