Off the top of my head, I know traditionally many types of labor have used singing songs together to set the pace and keep morale up. The military still do when they march they "sing cadence." so the same should be true of any music you chose to exercise to. If the tempo matches a 3 mph pace for example, then you have your pace set and the music to lift your spirits as you move.

I love classical music, but I don't exercise with it.

And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men; knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ. Col. 3:23

I'm going to video tape myself doing the exercises to the dvd and then I can choose my own music. This dvd I've done it so many times I don't need to see it but it's how many of each exercise.

The mind and body connect to tempo and for the most part you can pace yourself or race the clock using music. I do!

Is non-classical music the control or is it silence?

Anybody know of any good studies linking music and exercise and weight loss? Doesn't necessarily have to be classical music.
