Joanna, I just read your computer problem on the Wall (I should pay more attention to the wall) that would be frustrating to find a fried computer, hope all is better. I usually use the same two passwords, bad to do I know and I keep usernames and passwords on a sheet of paper, also not good to do. If you find a secret to remember, let me know.

Rainy here, had a pour down early this morning but at least it isn't flooding in my area.

Joanna, sorry things aren't working out in the healthy routine. sometimes that is what we have to do, the 'me' time or what else makes it work to get to where you need to be. I know you can do it. Will you still be on SP while you are away? We should do some challenges on here, would that help in the meantime? I know I can use what I can get.

I know what you mean about going to a gym. We belonged to one once, but just to get dressed, drive there, workout , drive back home.....yeah, been there, done that.

But you are off to a good start recognizing that something needs to be done and working out a plan. One step at a time.

Maybe we can throw out some exercises to be done everyday, to just get something going. If there is anything the team can do to help, let us know.

I want to think I am doing just great but in reality I am not doing all that hot. I set all these wonderful plans and then somewhere down the line they get side stepped and my goals are not being met. I was so gun hoe on getting in shape after my accident. I was going to lose weight and do all my physical therapy so that I could get back on one of my horses. Here I am two years later and I am not better off then when I started. Yes I don't use a walker, or a wheelchair, no cane, and I seem to be getting around on my own. But, and there is always a but, I have lost no weight to speak of 10 lbs here and there maybe but over all it seems like I might have gained more back. I have memberships in several health clubs, Fitness USA, Planet Fitness, Snap, and even at the fitness center where I was doing my physical therapy. The problem is that I don't go. No matter which I chose I have to travel to get to them, and these days that seems like an ordeal. I have nobody to travel with me so there goes my workout buddy system that I was so hoping for. To make matters worse I live with two boys that love to eat in the middle of the night. I am so sick of food yet I eat when its in front of me. It's like I have no will power, yet I feel like I should be able to control it.

I am desperate to get in a healthier situation so I am thinking of leaving home for a few months...just to give me a break away from the routine here. I am not sure that will help me, but I am thinking it might. It might be my ticket to saving my life at this point in time. Winter is coming on and I hate to go out in the cold, my old bones are not what they use to be and all the breaks held together by screws and pins do not react to well to cold. This means I will not get out and drive to any destination unless its an emergency. I could say I will set up and do the exercising at home but I know that will fall through. I won't last long doing that it never works out for me like that. Someone or something requires my attention and therefore I worry about that and not myself.

I am thinking I need to be somewhere I can worry only about myself for a while. Not a week or two on a vacation but somewhere I can be that will seems normal and I can come up with a game plan to get not fit..for that is out of the question, just healthier. Lighter weight so I will not be so hard on my knees, and my damaged foot. So I can enjoy being out with my family and friends. Maybe ride a horse but that is not my main concern right now. If I manage to be able to just spend more time with the horses that will make me happy.

But, here we go with that but again, but, right now I need to sit down and seriously need to take another good long look at what is going on around me and make some changes. Small ones at first until we lead into winter than more serious ones. I am thinking of leaving for 3 to 4 months to travel to Las Vegas and become a snowbird for the winter. I have to wait until January at least the hubby is leaving with half the family to Thailand in December. So maybe January, February, and March I can get away to a warmer climate and nothing going on there that will take away from the ME time. It will be all about me...and getting better. Right now...I have to go back into therapy says my doctor because I am having difficulty walking again. She is putting me into water therapy which is not too bad to handle. I just hope I can stick to it. Running back and forth an hour each way every other day is not my ideal of quality time. I usually hold out for 4 or 5 weeks before I quit, this time I am going to give it the 12 week shot she is requesting, well at least that is my thought for now.

Wish me luck.

Oh no!! Hope that doesn't happen. Without my computer and TV, I'd be lost. We lost power last night, luckily it was around 11:00pm. I turned lights in the off position so they wouldn't be on when power restored, forgot the TV. Power came back on around 12:55am, because the TV came on. So....I got up and watched part of Seth Meyers show.

I woke up to a real chill in the air this morning. Burrrr too soon in the year for this. On another note...it's not about to blow away. I heard on the news that a vortex is bring in a cold front that will be history making. Cold enough to knock out our satellites...no cell phones, no computers, and worse no alarms working. Kind of scary all those alarms that rely on satellite to run. What will people do that spend all their time on Facebook , twitter, and the rest of the media garbage. Hehehe..might be a funny situation.

I am not looking forward to cold....and so soon in the year. This might even damage our final hay crop. I will just have to keep my fingers crossed.

I would love to go to Ireland with you Court...that would be something.

Glad to see you back Joanna, sorry you were so sick, hope you recover fuly. I do miss the change in seasons like the leaves, but not the snow and cold. A little cool weathr is nice, so to wear some of my jackets.
My, it is a busy month with all that going on. We have our 23rd wedding anniversary on the 14th and my b'day on the 17th, but other than that nothing except maybe a few doctor appts. haha

I think I'm finally getting serious about my exercise and eating or at leasting trying to do a better job now.

I found some 3-leaf clovers in the yard yesterday and picked a couple. I want to find a 4-leaf but so far no luck. I pressed the ones I found in a book and want to put them in lamination for a bookmark. Hopefully find the 4-leaf first.

It's been a while since I have made any major post in any of my teams. So I think I might as well sit down and try to catch up at once. Not that there is a lot to catch up on but you never know. Someone out there just might be sitting behind their computer asking what became of Joanna.

I've been sick really sick...with Allergies and a bad sinus cold. It settled in my lungs and turned into ammonia. I am on the upside of recovery now but it took almost a month to get me here. As most of you know I live in the country on a horse farm in Michigan. Just one week into September I can see the trees and landscape change colors. Beautiful gold and red is blossoming right in front of my eyes. The nights are getting cooler and some of my flowers are giving way already. I have one more of HAY to cut in order to have enough to feed all the horses over the winter. However if the sunshine doesn't stay warm enough to dry out the crop once it's cut I could lose the whole thing and be forced to go out and buy hay. I need sunshine and strong wind to help with the fields. I am keeping my fingers crossed. We already lost 1/2 of the second cutting because of the rain. I am so afraid that Winter is coming to early and it's planning on being a hard one.

On a good note walking or riding the trails are beautiful right now. I use a golf cart to run my dogs along the paths of our property and oh my how lovely the colors are looking. After spending two years and over 50,000.00 we can say we no longer have any wire fencing lest on the farm. We are the proud owners of brand new split rail hard wood fencing around all the pastures, arena and grounds. Whoopee!

Show season is over for us...for the year anyway. I am cleaning everything up and putting it in storage for next year. We plan to really go out next year...will be my last year with the girls together so we are going to really do some traveling with the horses. After that I leave it in the hands of he girls...for the traveling part. I will stick to watching the local shows and maybe the nationals if they qualify.

If's official my sister moved in with me...for the final time. If she leaves again that's it for my efforts. Right now it's nice having her. I made sure she went to see the doctor and is now on antidepressants for her bi-polar. She helps me out so much inside the house. She keeps it clean for me...and does all the laundry so just that makes her a treasure. We are a big house here and it takes a lot of work to stay on top of it.

I have a busy September, 4 family birthdays that I have to attend. My oldest grandson is getting married on the 27th, one of my granddaughters just bought her first home and is having a house warming party the week before. Living where I live means a lot of driving to get to all the different venues, but being a good parent and grandparent I will make sure I am there rain or shine.

Just wondering, what is your favorite way to spend the weekend if you didn't have work or errands etc to do and money no concern?

I think I'd like to go back to Kissimmee for thre weekend, to get away for a while and maybe go to a theme park in Orlando.

I see Scotland is going through what parts of Ireland went through a while back and we went through, but a little differently since it was in the 1700s. Independence! Big decisions.

Joanna, I saw something on TV about Toledo's water, something about algae, toxin or something. I had an aunt who used to live there. $30 for a 24-pack of water!!! Outrageous!!

California has flooding and fires, Hawaii has two hurricanes. I sure hope we don't get any hurrianes this year.
Earthquake in Africa and China. All of a sudden it seems like disastors all over the place.

Court I am doing a lot better, thank goodness. My truck is in the shop being repaired.

I sure agree with you when it comes to being active on the team. I think we would be doing great if everyone just came in once or twice a week. But I see all the new names and not on making any comments. Unfortunately it takes a little bit of commitment if you want something to work.

We have been getting a lot of rain. Some flooding in the area. Toledo Ohio is really in a pickle they have no drinking water or bathing water. Something happen to their water in Lake Erie and their processing plants can not filter it out. The stores are price gouging and charging as much as 30.00 for a 24 pack of water and believer it or not the stores are all out of water. The government is looking into the price gouging. I know my daughter in laws mother had to get water from up here....my son took it 10 cases of water at 2.00 a case. Scary if nothing else. That makes me happy to know I have my own water here in the wells. I heard they even tried to boil it but it was not good enough.

We need to get our hay cut again...this week if we can get some sun shine I am hoping for this cutting and maybe one more before the end of the season. Wish me luck.

Just think what a team we'd have if all the newbies posted. It's the same on other teams I'm on too. If it doesn't seem too active they leave, but if they'd stay it would be more active. (catch-22). I know I don't post as much as I should and not a good co-leader, sorry.
I do appreciate all who are on this team. I still hope the others will come back.

Hope everyone has a good week.

Joanna, how are you and your sister doing since the wreck?

Rua, what has been new with you, how's the weather in Ireland? It's our rainy season here in Florida.

I was taking my sister home a couple of days ago and pulled over into a turn lane with my blinker on to make a right turn onto a private street off a main one. While turning a security truck came along and hit me in the rear end and sent me 30 feet up on the pavement and crosswalk. It happen so fast I didn't have time to think, but once it was over I couldn't move. My head went back to the awful accident I had back in 2010 what shattered my leg in 17 different places. I was so grateful to be in my big FORD 350 if I was in a smaller vehicle I would have hated to see the damage it did.

I think I am ok, just beat up and battered a little and more shaken up than anything, but my truck needs to be put in the shop and my driving is put on hold. I am scared to get in a vehicle right now.

Can you imagine a taken like truck ramming you from behind. It's like "What were they thinking?"

Over here I see Sean a lot. Before I knew how it was pronounced I saw an actor Sean Bean. Well....I knew something wasn't right. Then I realized Sean was pronouced Shawn. I have seen Sean as Shawn, but not Shamus around my parts. Maybe somewhere else. I've never seen or head of anyone named Sinead except on TV.

I'd love to call my DH Seamus since his name is James, but nada. He doesn't even like the name Jamie, which is what his mom was going to call him.

I wish I could find a Caitlin in my family tree but I still can't find my Irish. Someone did going back to 1300s but I can't trace that far back so won't count that. I think I saw some mistakes in dates anyhow. I'll keep looking. I know it is an old name as Dylan Thomas' wife was called Caitlin.

I like that name Aoife (Eef-a)

I never knew that different languages pronounced letters differently until I studied German. I admire anyone who can learn our language.

Joanna, how's it going today?

I think the anglicisation thing usually occurs the other way - people change how the name is spelt, and pronounce it the same way. I have seen Shamus, Shawn, and Shinade. Some of them would sound very funny if their pronunciation was anglicised: -

See-mus
See-oh-ban
Sin-ee-ad
Say-o-erss-ee

I wonder how they would deal with Aoife, (pr. Eef-a), or Caoimhe, (pr. Kee-va).

I have an American friend who wanted to call his daughter Niamh, but his wife, while she liked the sound of the name, thought people in the US would be confused by the spelling. They compromised by registering the child as 'Niamh', but spelling it 'Neeve' for everyday life.

No, I don't have that key. I never heard of it. I found the alt and codes for the fadas etc when I was studying German.

I wish I could get those who call me Caitlin to use the correct pronouciaiton, after all, you never hear the name Sean pronounced like bean. I don't know how they decided to americanize it when they don't to other Irish names Like Seamus, Sinead (shin + aid), Saoirse (sear + sha) and Siobhan pronounced Shavon. Why Americanize Caitlin??? If I'd known in the beginning I'd have everyone say it like the Irish.

Hi Court,

Here in Ulster, the traditional pronunciation of your name, 'Caitlín' is 'Catch-leen'. The 'I' before the 'T' dictates that it is pronounced similar to 'CH'. The fada, (a diacritic mark), over the 'last 'I' makes it an 'ee' sound.

Of course, it is possible that it is pronounced differently in another part of the country. Perhaps there's someone out there who speaks Munster or Connacht who could tell you how Caitlín is pronounced in their part of the island.

Today a down pour but the fields need it so I am not complaining. I am a little sad we had to postpone so many other projects. The Farrier was suppose to come and trim the horses hooves. They at least a few of them need it badly. In the summer months their hooves grow faster than in the winter and when they have white feet instead of dark they seem to break and chip away it left long. We also need to work on finishing up the paddock fencing. That is turning out to be a nightmare for me. I just don't know how long it's going to take and how much it is going to end up costing me.

I do have some chores I can run even in the rain like banking, shopping, and bill paying. Not that I like the last one at all but it needs to be done. I have to go into town and pay the property taxes so I guess I can do that also. Ok, it looks like I just gave myself a list of things to get done so I will be off and busy for the next few hours. I hope all is well with everyone. Don't over exert yourselves and have a great day.

Court you are welcome anytime here to help out or just visit if you like the country life. I have plenty of room we can set you up.

Ok, we finally put the last of it up...just a little clean up and it's over for the next two months and then we have to do it all again. We got a little over 2500 bales out of the one field....and 1100 out of the other one. So over all that's pretty good. Now if I didn't have to use it to feed the horses I have I could sell it and make quite a chunk. It would bring in close to 28,000 dollars, but no I have to keep it and feed my horses and hopefully get another 2200 when I cut next time. Each cutting I get a little bit less but richer...it thins out but it come out greener. I keep all the second cutting to keep weight on them during the winter months. In most seasons I can get three cuttings but not thing year because the winter cut to much into our spring. So I will loose the last 800 to 1000 bales I usually get. That comes to about an 8,000 dollar loss.

I am tired off to shower and see whets for dinner. The rest of the crew is coming in now.

The weather has been a nightmare for me this year. My farm survives on Hay for feeding horses, cattle and lamb. Without it I would be forced to buy it elsewhere and I just can't afford that. We need close to 4000 bales a year and another 100 or so large round bales to make it through the winter and to next years crop. Unfortunately this year is not working out real well. In order to get in good hay...it has to be cut then dried out....then flipped around....dried some more finally bailing and storing. This along is a hard job, anyone of you that have to do it or use it knows the value of timing. The whole process can take from 3 to 6 good days....depending on heat, sun and wind. The thicker the crop the longer the time, but each day that it does not rain is a plus. This year so far we are not getting that at all. Just when you think you can cut the hay here comes the rain. Two weeks ago I cut a small section of an 8 acre field hoping to get hay for the horses right now. I let it sit for a day to dry out....I raked it ...that day hoping to get some wind and air to the under side....then without notice I saw heat lightening...that evening...and we rushed to bale it and get it up in the trailers under cover before the rain came.

We were bailing, picking up and stacking until almost 4am...thinking the rain would come and if the crop got wet we would loose it. Well....out of the 480 bales I managed to get up...I am now finding out that about half of them were not dry enough and already the mold is setting in. Not that I can't use it to feel the cows, but the poor horses and sheep are going to be starving here shortly. I am hearing that we are getting 4 full days of sunshine over the 4th of July weekend....so no traveling, no lake, no boating, or much of anything else this weekend...we have to call in all the family to help to get the full acres cut...which should be close to 2500 bales ....but just cutting is not the work...its getting it up and into the barn and storage area to keep it safe is the hard work and will take us all of two days....if not more just for that. Cutting so late in the year also...puts a damper on things...it might not allow us to get three cuttings this year....we might only get two.....and it also turns brown and will not be a green as we like if we are not careful. So mother nature is not looking out for us Michigan Farmers this year...she is being a pain in the butt.

The good news is I along with everyone else will get a good workout and we eat light so we can work harder on the hot days...so I should be fine there.

Hope you are all having a great day.

Moira, I too have found it kind of difficult to get on the forums and find the time to actually get involved. Even though I should. It does take a little bit of commitment and time. Congratulations on your finding a link in your ancestry linage. Can't wait until you tell us more. I know my father came from South Ireland in Cork County but I have not traced any family back as of yet. I am hearing more and more of how much if actually being found that it makes me interested and I might someday give it a try. But, for now I am working on just what is in front of me. My health and family that is in front of me.

Hi Team,
Really sorry I'm not around more often. I find the food & exercise logging, along with the kind of fresh cooking I do, and the exercise, time consuming, and just don't think I have a lot of time for forums. I'm also doing a lot of genealogy. I'm rather excited that I was given the information my Battersby-Hassett ancestors may have been from Clonmellon Parish, County Westmeath (or County Meath as Clonmellon Parish straddles both counties). Someone is Clonmellon emailed me and is going to visit the parish to see if the information can be verified.

I'm home and got a little sleep but today is Fathers Day and I need to see what is going on. I thought all the boys were going to NASCAR Races today but seems that the hubby wants to stay home and bale hay.

I did a lot of walking...In fact my legs were so tired each night I didn't want to pick them up and put them down they hurt so bad. I did manage to get up and down a dozen or so stairways to see different things. I didn't eat all that much either...and drank a lot of water. So over all I feel I should have lost a lot of weight, but I know if I step on a scale it will not say what I am thinking.

Now that I am back a lot of catch up work...horse work, more horse shows to deal with and kids all summer that are off of school.

Well I better get going and see what is in store for me.

Joanna

PS....I also had TMJ and had to have surgery that brought my lower jaw forward. A couple of my children were born with it also. My jaw use to lock and snap when I was eating. I was lucky enough for it not to cause me too much pain but I was an adult before I could get it corrected.

I do that all the time. I put my elbow on the pullout with my keyboard and rest my chin in my hand. Never gave it a thought to be a problem. I'm going to try to stop doing that. It's such a habit now.

Thanks for the info.

Court, I have suffered from TMJ (temporarymandibular disorders) off and on for years. The doctors would tell me it was a dental problem, and the dentists would say it was a medical problem.

The health insurances, at least then, did not cover and neither did the dental insurance. It was really horrid.

They all knew about it and sympathized, but didn't help. Then I had to go to the greatest doctor for oral surgery on another matter. I told him about it and he was so gentle while he worked. It did improve then.

It would flare up now and then, and I realized that when I was correcting papers or researching something, I was resting my chin on my hand, which I think moved the jaw slightly off. I stopped doing that and it helped. (I have had it now and then since I was in college -- which is a long, long time ago.)

I can tell you, I know how much it hurts. Even trying to eat cream soups hurt.

Anyway, since then I have had to have physical therapy on something else, and the PT told me that there are exercises to correct this. I found one just now and maybe it will help.

Hi, how's it going for you all today? Rain showers today, but all is good. I do have to have a needle aspiration on my thyroid nodule, as it grew bigger since last time.

I know Joanne, my DH goes up the candy aisle and says, don't look over there". Well, duh! Of course I'm going to look. Now we found a cake mix made with Splenda and icing made with Slenda so it is healthier than regular cake mix. We generally try to make it when our company comes for cards.

You know, when we used to make a menu up for the week, we ate healthier and used up food before it went bad and didn't over buy what we already had. Try to talk him into doing that now....yeah right.

Court, ouch I hope it\s feeling better by now.

I would love to have a partner to help out with my diet but unfortunately he is here sabotaging me. Bad Hubby.

I went to the lumber yard today and picked up a trailer full of lumber for the fencing. The guys are working on it hopefully it will be at least patricianly finished by the time I get back from Virginia next weekend.

I went to my granddaughters recital yesterday evening. I love that annual gathering even if it is a little crowded. She is not a dancer but she sure gives it a good try. I most like the Daddy Daughter dance...which neither my son or granddaughter are the best at but it is so precious. Last night all the dads and daughters were dressed at hippies of the 60's dancing to the song HAIR.....it made everyone laugh with glee. Funny stuff.

Ok, got my sister here for a coupe of days to do some work around the house for me. So maybe I will catch up here and be able to leave on Tuesday before I leave for vacation.

I do hope you are all enjoying your weekend.

Rua, yeah it is good when you and DH are both on the same page of watcing weight. Good Luck.

Joanna, thanks. I'll have to check that page. I'd get so use to thr horses and ponies and name them that I'd never want to sell them. I'd never do good at owning a pet store.

My jaw was hurtng some yesterday and now it hurts to put any pressure on that side to eat. Now I think it might be narrowed down to a tooth, but feels like whole side of jaw. Guess besides the foot doctor, I'll have to make appt with the dentist.. I'm so totally falling apart. Geesh!

I do not have a long time today...trying to get things done before I go to the city to enjoy my granddaughters dance recital. It's that time of year again that we all look forward to. Tuesday I will be traveling to DC with my oldest GD and then once I am back home I have the rest of the Grandkids coming out for the summer while off on summer break. Lucky me...but truthfully it does get pretty exciting and hectic around here during the summer. I have about 17 kids that come to taken riding lessons all week long, then with 5 summer grandkids around all day long ....and then the 4H meetings once a week now trying to get ready for fair, well you get my drift.

So far no hay cut every time we think it might be ok...the rain comes. We can't cut and lt and let it sit in the rain it will mold. We need one day to cut a good drying day with a turn or two of the hay, then a bale day. If we are lucky we can bale let it sit and pick up the 4th day if not we get it up and out of the field right away...but harder and much more work for a short time.

All the horses are doing pretty good this year...they came out of winter looking pretty hefty and now they are all being put to jobs...horses do better when they have something to look forward to. They are getting worked at a rate of 50% daily the other half every other day. Once the grandkids are all here they will all be worked daily and well used for trail riding, fun stuff, and of course we have the show horses.

I need to sell a couple of more...I have a cute little black and white pony to sell and a really nice paint...that is a pretty big boy. He is very gentle and will do trails and is actually good enough to do the shows also with the right rider.

I hope everyone is having a great weekend...and that the sun keeps shinning on you all.

Court...when you can't find a page then she either left the group or she did not finish signing up. You can check that out by going to the main page...and looking down at the new member section if the name is underlined they are here...and can see us...if not they are not part of the team. Unfortunately that happens more often than not.

Hi Everyone,

I haven't been able to get online as much as usual and probably won't in the next few weeks. My son is suddenly out of work and is having to live with me until he finds a new job. In fact, if he gets a job nearby, he might be around for a while. My brother is home from Australia till the end of the month so I've been spending a lot of time with him, at my mother's. And, this Sunday, my husband will be home for a three-week stay.

I'm afraid, because of the change in routine, my eating and exercise habits have gone down the tube. I'm hoping that, once DH gets here, we will be able to establish a good routine and encourage each other in our healthy habits. That has not been the case in the past, but things definitely have to be different this time. His health is very bad at the minute, and the clock is ticking down to my daughter's wedding. Not only do I want to have reached my target weight by then, but I want my sweetheart to be there with me.

Good luck to all,

Rua

Well before any holiday take off I have chores around the farm to finish up. I just hired someone to start tomorrow putting in new fencing around the property. I am kind of excited as it was a project started last summer and never finished up. I need to move a horse or two this coming week, and do some repairs on the barn. Busy time but a good time I am hoping.

The surgery went off without a hitch so far so good as they say. I have the other eye to do but had to reschedule it because they had me going in on the 11 of June and that is the day after I am leaving for DC. The trip was not my idea at all but I was invited so I am tagging along and might find it interesting since I never did get into that part of the woods yet. We are excited to be going alone I guess...it will be our first trip out without horses or without a plane ride somewhere that far from home. Well we did go to Kentucky which is quite a distance for the Derby a couple of years ago. Got all dressed up with cute hats and everything that year. We decided to rent a car rather than putting the miles on either of our vehicles.

Court, I know what you mean about not having the funds to do much. It's getting harder and harder to keep up with these girls anymore. They want and expect so much but retired your money only goes so far and then what can you do.

That should be a lot of fun iwth the horses and seeing the White House. I've been to Washington as a kid but not to sese the White House, or as far as i can remember. In fact I don't remember much.

DH and I don't vacation much now. Too expensive for us right now, seems every time we turn around we're going to one kind of doctor or another.
Hope you have a safe and great trip.

I will think of you often about your surgery. So many people have benefitted from the procedure lately. (In the olden days the surgery was just awful. Now it's a miracle. Really.)

The ponies sound fun. Your granddaughter should enjoy it as much as you.

I hope you will enjoy the White House. I haven't been there since the Watergate Days when I was a reporter. President Nixon was still there and I thought I was being so clever when I would speak into the potted plants (which I swear were not real, but rubber). So much was going on then. I remember how small the State Room was.

Hope the rest of you are all doing well.

I am so hoping they are going to love them as much as we did. They both were great horses. I have a few more to find new homes for but I am in no hurry to see them go so I will make sure I find the right homes for the.

We are all done with the show for the time being. I will be having surgery on my right eye Thursday. Removing cataracts and in a couple of week they will do the left eye. Hopefully that will help my headaches and eye sight a little. I will still need glasses to see but it should over all do something for me I am hoping.

I am also going to travel the 10th of June with my granddaughter Alexandra ....she wants to go and see Washington DC...the capital and the White House. It might be fun I have never in all my travels seen it myself. We are going to drive down through Virginia while out and about to sight see. There is an Island off the coast of Virginia that houses ponies. They were used at one time in the mines here but not they are just wild things. Once a year they have what they call a passage to the states. Where they are rounded up and run into the water and sent to the state side where they are captured and hopefully trained and sent to new homes. It would be very interesting to watch the gathering round up of the ponies but we will not be there during that date which is in July. Just to visit the Island and see all the little wide things would be nice. A part of by gone history that still lingers there.

I better move on and check more content on here so I can try to catch up on the majority of it. There is a lot of reading to do. I will hold most of my comments until I catch up.

Rua welcome back glad you enjoyed your holiday with the kids. We missed you but know how it is when you are off and gone.

Did I mention that I got bit the other day by one of my horses. Shadow is a baby but a big 17hh one and when he plays and gets you it hurts. I was able to swat him for it but it doesn't make up for my arm being three time the size it should be and black and blue as it can get. I even have teeth marks but not broken skin, although it feels raw and causes a burning sensation that is almost unbearable.

Note on the good side two of my horses were sold this week A little gray Arabian that is just cute as a button, and a wonderful Pinto Gelding that is going to make a wonderful horse for his new owner. I love him especially because he is really a jack of all trades. He rides hunt seat and western and did very well in it....he just started jumping at the end of last year and if they keep it up he will make a nice little beginner jumper. He rode saddle seat and dressage last year and took first in both classes at the High School Equestrian Meets. He doesn't mind trails and loves to be handled. The little gray mare on the other hand although she is broke for a child to ride she is strictly hunt seat and jumps a little. Also she has her moments of PMSing. I wish their new owners a happy and healthy life with them both.

As for me I guess I will try to pack a bad and get my butt down to OHIO to watch the weekend events.

Welcome back Rua. Glad you enjoyed your time in New Zealand.

I think I misunderstood the 1lb a week club....I gained a pound each week. haha
Well, not that funny. On one team where we weigh in, I started out as 109 and today I'm 112. When I was 112 last time, my gyn said I should lose a few pounds. I may have talked him into telling me that, being I was depressed. I had him bring my DH in and tell him, so he could help me. Too bad I skipped my gyn this year.

I was craving a Dr. Pepper earlier so had a drink of Sprite, since I had no Pepper.
Which is worse??

I set my timer for 20 min so I can et up and do some exercise for 5 min. It does add up, depending on how long I do it.

Hi Everyone,

I'm just checking in to say that I'm home from New Zealand. I got back at 4pm yesterday, after a 44 hour journey. That was an improvement on the outward journey of 50 hours, so I was happy about that.

I had a great time and was sad to leave. My little, four-month old grandson is the cutest baby ever! It's heart-breaking that I won't see him again until December, when he'll be past the baby stage. However, sin é an saol - that's life. It was great that I got to cuddle him while he's still small.

I didn't pay a blind bit of heed to my diet while I was gone but that was a conscious decision. I just wanted to have fun and not spoil anyone else's time by repeatedly saying, 'I can't eat that.' Goodness knows, it's hard enough to find coeliac friendly food while travelling, without adding low-fat, low-carb, low-calorie to the mix.

I jumped on the scales first thing morning, determined to know the worst. Well, it was as bad as I expected - 7 lbs up! Still, a few weeks of commitment will shift that. Then, however, DH will be here and that is always a major flash point for both of us in our diet and exercise programmes. Well, it can't be this time. We have to stick to our guns and make sure that, when he leaves here, we're both lighter than when he arrived.

I haven't been online while I was gone and haven't looked at anyone else's posts yet. I will, however, try to catch up a bit with what's been going on, but, if I don't manage to comment on anyone's important events, please forgive me and know that I wish you all the very best of luck.

Ádh mór,

Moira good job, nice to hear you are down.

I did a bad thing yesterday, I turned my back on a baby horse and he is a nipper. He reached out and go me good my right shoulder is three times the size and hard as a rock today. I can't lift it away from my body and I am in so much pain right now. I took some pain pills just to get through the night I could not lie down, lift up or even move without wanting to cry...so unfortunately I did not come on yesterday at all. Today I am typing one handed so I will not stay long.

Hi Team,
I know, I'm really a bad team member. Thanks Courti for the note on my page to get me to hit the group now and then. I just figure I'm spending so much time eating right and exercising, and logging them, that I have less time to sit on my fanny socializing online....

Hyatt1, you need a diet makeover. All of you need to accept new diet rules. #1 is more FRESH, LESS processed! Our ways of eating are an addiction. We have to break addictions. You CAN replace a sugar & sweet addiction with a fruit addiction so that when you crave sweet, it is satisfied with fruit. An apple a day is a great place to start. Fruit for desserts. Fruit as an entire meal. Veggies as an entire meal. Add fresh nuts for fat and nutrients. LOSE ALL processed fruit juices & drink only that which you squeeze yourself or that which you know the store has squeezed. READ LABELS. WATER will keep you from being as hungry, prevent snacking and cheating if you drink enough. Eat 3 regular meals (OK, or that 5 or 6 small meal thing but I don't approve of it because if you are trying to keep to 1500 calories or less, dividing that by 6 allows you 250 calories per meal!) I don't believe in snacks, but I snack occasionally and have found allowable snacks - seaweed (!!) generally. I don't snack much. I hit my water bottle instead.

I was successful in completing my 1st full Spinning class at my gym (LA Fitness). I tried one after I first joined the gym and didn't make it 30 minutes. I succeeded today, my knees didn't bother me- in fact they felt better than they had in ages- my feet bothered me so near the end I stopped the jumping up and down and just rode. I can't wait to do another class.

I'm down 39 lbs. I lost 10 lbs. in January. 8 in February. 8 in March. 7 in April. 6 in May. I started at 191 (actually 193). Again. I'm down to 152. 150 used to be BMI 25 for me. I've shrunk. I've got more to lose but I feel like a million bucks. I've cut back on my meals lately- I cut out some nuts and some of the less than fresh stuff I add to my food. TTFN.

I tried today to stick to my guns and keep on track...beginning with a piece of toast and yogurt for breakfast, for lunch just a bowl of chicken vegetable soup...no bread or beverage other than water. However on dinner is where I ate the most of my calories. I took some blankets to the laundry mat to wash them because they were too big for my machine. While out we stopped at a little Mexican restaurant on MSU campus. I ordered a combo...taco...2 enchiladas, a tamale with rice and beans. I only ate 1/2 of everything...the taco....1 enchiladas and half the rice and beans...no tamale (I don't like them anyway). I think I did pretty well over all for my first day back to the buckboard. I also put in almost 2 hours of heavy cleaning today..mopping floors, changing beds, doing windows, and cleaning one of three bathrooms.

Did I mention before that I cut all my hair off...never in my life had it this short...and of all things I died it RED....I am a blonde (no the dumb blond type) but blonde with a lot of gray running through it right now. So with blonde hair your gray is not a pretty gray its a mousy gray at that...which I hate. So I have always colored the gray...that old saying wash the gray away..was me. But, this time around I decided to go all the way and do something really strange...I did it bright red or auburn red I guess you can say. I sent a shocker to everyone here at home.

Court, I know the feeling but truthfully I should know better...it's just so hard when that is one of the things I enjoy the most eating good food. Hehe..

Don't worry Joanna, you're not alone. I'm suppose to be part of the accountabiliity club here and I'm still falling short....or falling fat. I start out thinking positive but a simple 'Do you want..." and I'm there.

Good Morning Everyone,

I guess you could say I have been slacking a little lately or maybe a lot. I feel like I don't even deserve to come on here and make comments right now. I have let my eating habits blow all out of shape and as far as exercising I am not doing anything unless its a little house work or working with the horses. And with all that said it's not enough to account for anything. I have gone on an eating binge and not really a plan to do it even just slacking off. I want to kick myself in the butt...after having tried for so long.

Well I can't do anything about that now...but I can start over once again. And I am doing so starting right now, today, this minute. Let me get up and get something to snack on before I finish this first....(hehe) just kidding.

It's Sunday and I have to go to the Doctor's tomorrow and I know she is going to give me a lecture...which I so deserve but do not want to hear or face right now. I've been going through some mental stress lately , nothing I can't handle but certainly a heavy load on mind and daily life. But, no excuses, I have to face the fact I need to lose weight and get healthy for my own sake, so that I can move better, do more, and live a happier life.

I will be traveling to Columbus Ohio next week for a week long horse show....well I will be taking a camper trailer down there on Monday....set it up for the granddaughter for the week. I will come back Monday night and return down there on Friday to stay until Sunday when I will haul the camper home

it's the Arabian Buckeye Annual Show....a regional show for the Arabian Circuit. She will be riding a new horse that she has never had in a showering before. We are excited to see how well he does for her. the youngest granddaughter will not be showing since she cannot take off school. Oh well she will be attending enough shows once school is out. I am looking forward to a busy week here at the farm also I just had to fire one of our full time employees with no replacement at hand we have to chip in to fill the void.

Better get5 off here for now....have a great Sunday everyone

Today is the first day of the rest of my life and I am going to make new changes.....Oath #1

So glad you had a wonderful Mother's Day. Is your son a chef? If not, he should be, sounds like a great spread!!

DH picked me up after church and we went to his mom's house. He had been there earlier and gave her his card, Together we gave her a box with money and a gift card and my card and a funny card of 2 cooks, and gave her some cookies. We don't have kids, but he said he thoufht of it too late to get a card to be from the squirrels in our trees that we feed. I may do that for Father's Day though.

When we had our dog, we always got a card for each othr to be from her for b'day, Christmas, Father's and Mother's Day. She was our little baby. She was almost 13 years old when she died.

Hi everyone,

Happy Mother's Day to all you wonderful mothers around the world. I for one have had an exceptional Mothers Day and would like to extend the feeling to everyone else. I was able to spend the day with all my children. Even my son flew in late last night from Vegas to do all the cooking. He was up and cooking at 6 this morning and at 2 put out a great spread for the whole family. With family and a few friends we had 37 at the farm today to celebrate mother's day. My grandson worked all day yesterday and this morning putting in my flower garden for me. My daughter power washed all the outdoor furniture and get the outside looking wonderful for the day. My granddaughter Alexandra was here to make sure my house was presentable. I would like to say spick and span but in reality I live on a horse farm so I will never be that clean. All my windows are done and the walls are all washed the floors mopped and shined, cupboards are all cleaned out and the laundry closet and storage rooms are all in perfect order so I can't ask for much more than that.

We had Roast Rack of Lamb with a blue cheese sauce that was just yummy, Stuffed lemon pepper chicken breast, Fried Cornbread, Colorful Deviled Eggs (who knows what exactly he put in them but they were good), Hot Red Skin Potatoes with a Cheese Sauce, Corn on the Cob, Strawberry Spinach Salad with nuts, raisins with a poppy seed dressing (another yummy flavor), Stuffed Mushrooms and topped it off with homemade Pineapple Upside Down Cake. The good news I didn't life a finger to cook thanks to my wonderful son.

My granddaughter brought me chocolate covered strawberries big huge large ones....a dozen of them. I ate one and put the rest in the freezer. I somehow have enough flowers to put a vase in almost every room in my house. I love the smell of fresh flowers. Thanks to the hubby and the rest of the grandkids My son Sam brought me a clock ...a horse shape clock...for my kitchen but I am not sure where i can find room to hang it in there. All my walls are covered with things from other members of the family. I will find somewhere. My daughter brought me a pretty night dress and a bottle of perfume. So all in all I have had a really wonderful mother's day and they all stayed until just a few minutes ago. I still have swaggers outside finishing up things around the house but most of them are gone home. I am exhausted...takes a lot of energy to entertain all day long and keep up with all the different conversations. I love being a mother but I am so glad that mother's day only comes once a year.

Still we get to do it all again next month....It's going to be Father's Day.

Maybe they're prepping for Mother's Day. I don't have kids so we're going to go to DH mom's and give her cards and gifts.

We seemed to get some newbies sign up, but don't come here.

I was doing the Accountability with Rua in that thread, but lately I seem to be in a downward spiril. Need to quit snacking and get more cardio in. I hate to look in my bathroom mirror. My hips, ugh!! Love handlesugh! Where is rock bottom when you need it? haha
