Thank you for some great advice. Unfortunately, I forgot about those darn cream puffs!!
I will make an extra effort to laugh a lot to burn some extra calories!!
I've also planned to find the biggest water I can once I get into the convention center for the beer fest!! Hopefully I'll sip myself silly and leave no room for the extras!!

sounds awesome. like someone mentioned .. split the meal .. no need to carry around to-go boxes all over the beer fest

get those small sample glasses of beer .. don't drink 6 or 8 to 12 or 20oz of each kind of beer. no matter how tempting. usually (as you probably know) when there are so many available .. they'll do samples... sample away.. spit it out if you don't like it (blasphemy i know but sometimes it helps).

have you been building up your arm strength for the be stein contest? -- don't forget all the raucous laughter and uproarious singing... exercise doesn't have to be walking.

How are you measuring your year? Speeding tickets, cups of coffee, love

Can I come, too? emoticon Sounds like fun.

I think if you plan out the rest of the weekend, and use moderation like Patty said, you will be fine. ENJOY!

Gosh I haven't been to Schmidt's for years! Love love love their food - and their desserts? Yummo.

Ok - that being said - lol - let move on.....

Since you've already planned your meal - planned your exercise (and it may NOT be raining at the time your out) to me you're on the right track - even if YOU feel it's 2 steps forward and 3 back (really 3???? I'd say more like 1 maybe - why be so hard on yourself?) We really are too quick to be so hard on ourselves aren't we?

Moderation - moderation - moderation. Don't finish everything on your plate - split everything in half and ask for a to go box. I do that every time I eat out - I split the food BEFORE I put a fork in it. If you decide to have one of their desserts - do the same thing with that but only eat 1/4 of it at any time (save it to savor later on in the week)

As for the other 7 in your group - well personally I'm not the kind of person to let others dictate to me (I do enough of that to myself - lol) Don't let them get inside your head - do what you want - ignore them.

Good luck - enjoy the evening!

We are celebrating my husband's birthday tonight. I feel like I have done so well this week but now I must face reality. It is Friday night and we are going to Columbus for Schmidt's German food and then a Beer Fest with over 300 craft beers. These events are what I live for. This is what my husband and I do together. We seek out interesting food and local/micro brews. I have apps on my phone just for this purpose. We have gone all over the country to eat and plan to travel the world someday, to eat!
I've been to Schmidt's, so I have planned ahead to decide what to order that will be satisfying but not too calorie rich. But then the beer fest, the concessions, the late night munchies...
I thought I would off-set some of these calories by walking from hotel to restaurant/convention center but the weatherman says it will be raining all day and the other 7 people in our group are not exactly on board with my goals.
My problem for the last 10 years, I suddenly realize, is the 2 steps forward, 3 steps back dilemma.
Thoughts and advice would be greatly appreciated!
