I just started back to yoga after a 2 year absence. I love it! It is a great stress reliever.
Also, it helps me regain some flexibility, which is so important as one gets older. Also,
I find that I can pursue my fitness activities much better with increased flexibility. Hope
you give yoga a try. But don't judge yoga by just one class by one instructor. There are lots
of types of yoga and every instructor approaches it differently. Also, it takes awhile to learn
poses, so be patient with yourself. If you have a good instructor they will emphasize over and
over not to "compete" with yourself or others in the class to excel at doing the postures. It is about being with your body where you are now. It took me awhile to get that concept. It is so
different from what exercise instructors and classes tend to use as motivators. However, yoga
was originally more of a spiritual practice to calm the mind. It is in more recent times that it
has been approached as more of an exercise. Hope you give it a try!
