I've done Pelotonia three times now and compared to that TOSRV is not hilly at all. Yes, the section from Chilicothe to Wavery has a few hills but nothing significant. Last year it rained during the first day and nothing the second day but it was chilly. The year before, I didn't do it but it was super windy and I have a friend to bailed after 80 miles because of the winds.

Just keep training ink beuatiful Ohio weather and as long as you've got at least 70 miles as your longest ride you should be fine. TOSRV suggests you have a base of 400 miles going into the ride, but I did it with just 150 total training miles before.

I signed up for both ways, but because I live just east of Portsmouth, I know I have the option of not going back on Sunday if I am just not up to it. So far, I have trained in high wind and extreme cold, but not rain. I am a little bit nervous about riding in the rain on those racing tires! LOL! I know I need to do it though. I have been doing some pretty hilly terrain because I've heard that from Chillicothe to Lake White is rolling.

Thanks for the advice on training in the rain. Any other advice you can give would be greatly appreciated! :-)

Hi there - I did TOSRV last year - the whole things, down and back. What I tell people is that you need to train in all sorts of weather. TOSRV is known for rain and wind and last year was no exception.

How far are you going? That is going to determine how much you train and how many miles you need in your base.

I signed up last week. It will be my first time. I've always wanted to try it, but never did. Last year I bought a new bike and I've been keeping up on base miles through the winter. Yesterday I did 26.4 with 4 hills. I am so excited to try this! emoticon

If you have done TOSRV before, do you have any helpful hints for a first-timer?
