Kelly - I can't wait to read your blog!!! maybe it'll finally spur me to write my Alcatraz one from ages ago.... :P No worries, I don't feel like you're pressuring me to abandon the scale or anything. I do need to sort out what's going to help me get back on track and such.

I'm about as ready as I'm gonna be for today's test. :P I wish the next hours were over with already b/c I'm excited to try this new tofu dish for dinner ( www.dailygarnish.com/2010/02/

). NOMNOMNOMMMMM.

Just wanted to let you all know that I blogged about Saturday's swim.

Kourtney, I'm not necessarily saying not checking the scale is what you need, but maybe a little focus shift more toward how you feel, less on the numbers. It's helpful for me at least. Keeps me from going too crazy. :) I think I'm going to start taking an ST class offered at my Y that a bunch of people in my Masters group do. I definitely need to focus more on ST.

Heather - you sound much better!!! As they say in Office Space, perhaps you had a case of the Mondays. It's awesome that you're adding in more exercise - I need to do the same!

Maureen - awww thank you *blushes* I still need to put a bit more work into the exercise, but I've set it aside to finish up studying for tonght's exam. w00t! It'd be awesome if your mom moved out by you! I'm glad to hear that you guys are having such a great time together! :D I'm sorry that today's her last day. *hugs* It's always hardest the first few days after they're gone.

Kelly - I've been toying with the idea of not looking at the scale for a bit. It's a careful balance b/c seeing a bad number will help push me to NOT neglect things I may otherwise neglect... I'm going to do some pretty massive life-planning after tonight's exam and hopefully I can get back into the groove this week. I'm doing a ST challenge on here and I've gotta get started on it tomorrow am, so that's a start at least! Wow, way to be AWESOME and go to swimming! I do NOT think that I could've pulled myself out of bed for that. Heck, it was hard enough to pull myself out of bed to study this morning! :P You're a rockstar!!!

***

Hello all. :D So I got home later than usual last night (protests + track problems on the plane + coworkers making me miss my train...). Mike made us dinner, though, and I got to relax for a few minutes before heading over to his lab to study. It's so nice having a desktop computer with all of the books and such laid out to work on. I made some really good headway and we headed home around 11pm. I had a pretty moody day but kinda forced myself to relax and get work done which worked reasonably well. I still have a lot of introspection to do, but I had a productive night at least AND I actually slept through the night last night! Studied some more this morning and I'm hoping to finish up my study sheets so that I can look over them at lunch. I've decided that if I get them done by lunch, I get to print them out and study them at a tasty lunch place (if I don't, I do them on lunch with my packed lunch). Woo hoo motivation!

Tonight after the exam, I have some fun things planned. I'm doing a ST challenge on here (run by YOOVIE called "Pimp My (P)ride" if you're interested) and I need to get started on this week's challenge! Mike said he's going to help me think of some ideas and I'm going to start it either tonight or tomorrow morning, depending on what we outline. I also plan to have a little bit of pamper time - make a tasty tofu dinner, take a nice bath, spend some quality time with the boy, etc...

XOXO

Good morning all!

Heather, so glad you're feeling better today!

Maureen, sounds like you've had a great time with your mom. I hope she considers relocating. It definitely sounds like she would find more camaraderie in New Mexico than Idaho, and I'm sure you would like having her close.

Kourtney, so sorry you've been feeling off lately. I'm really working hard on focusing on working out and feeling good, and not the fact that the scale won't go down. It's been helping my overall mood, that's for sure. I hope you get back in your groove soon.

Carol, Jason has sung with this church choir for about 10 years, and I just started singing with them last year (so I could go to England!) I think some people were skeptical that I just joined to be part of the trip, but showing up to sing on Sunday convinced them that I'm in it for the long haul now. It really is a lot of fun.

I get migraines too, though mine are nowhere near as severe as some other people I know. I finally found a medication that works and doesn't knock me out and I hoard it so that I'm not caught without any when a migraine starts. They're just so debilitating.

Lynn, oh my gosh! Your poor son! As you said, maybe he doesn't make the best choices, but, yeah, that doesn't give anyone the right to beat the crap out of him. You must have been so worried and MAD! What a way to end what sounds like an otherwise great weekend. Congratulations on getting through a rough tri! You are definitely a rock star! I friended you on Facebook (Kelly McGee).

Well, I posted this on my status, but I didn't get home from work until 10:45 last night! We had a client board meeting down in the southern part of the state and the current chair is a really nice guy, but he just lets people ramble on and on. The meeting lasted 3 hours and then I had to drive all the way home. I had Masters this morning and after arguing with myself for awhile, I pulled myself out of bed and went. I have to remember that I NEVER regret going swimming. Even when it's tough, I'm always glad I went. Remember the former "mean girl" from my lane that I blogged about? She's getting to be my buddy now! Amazing. I guess I earned her swimming respect. :)

Have a great day!
Kelly

You guys make me smile saying you think taking the CPA exam will be fun. I imagine it could be, if you look at it that way. When I took it I was making a career change, over 30, working full time, and taking review classes two nights a week and all day Saturday for 4 months. It was most decidedly not fun. However, I was determined to do it, and I came within 4 stupid points of passing all four parts on the first try. Back in the day, we took all four parts over two days all at once. The exam was on paper. We sat in big rooms (mine was an ice hockey arena with a wooden floor over the ice) and all took the exam at the same time. It was a bit hellish actually. I was crazily happy when I passed and never ever ever ever had to think about studying for or taking that exam ever again!!!! emoticon

Heather: it's awesome that you are meeting your challenge!! You are awesome!

Carol: I know what you mean about getting a CPA as being fun. I have a tendency to look at all the stuff I could do and get really excited as a distraction from my homework. lol. CPA, CMA, CFA....etc etc.

Kourtney: I hope your introspective exercise helped yesterday. I think it's an excellent task and focused on taking control! You are pretty cool!

It's my last day with my mom. We had an amazing time last night walking through Canyon road. It's a row of galleries but they were all closed. We went into a nice restaurant which had a poetry reading going on. All the authors were in their mid-life and most were women. I know my mom likes to see when people she identifies with are doing stuff like that. We had tapas and wine and desserts. Neither of us drink so our one glass of wine was plenty of lubrication for the evening. Anyway, it was great and I am so happy she came to visit. I think we'll have an low-key night tonight since she is driving back to Idaho tomorrow. :( I think she really liked it here though, so maybe she'll start looking into relocating. Her skills are really marketable here. I hope she does move here, I think she'd be a lot happier and more accepted in this community (single gay woman over 50 in Idaho!).

Have an awesome day everyone!!! I'm off to do more metrics!

Maureen
