Thank you all! I actually had my last class last night and I was told beans are ok after the first few weeks. I love Rosarita's fat free chili lime refried beans so I'm happy to here that I can actually ahve them sooner then I thought. Now if I can just get pineapple put back on my list of good things lol.

Had the Gastric Sleeve 11/9/11. Lost a good amount before, a little less after and stalled when I was told my 2 lbs. a week average wasn't fast enough. Held my weight for at least 6 months and for the first time ever I got pregnant. At 8 weeks I lost the baby and didn't care about anything for the 2 years that followed! Gained 50+/- pounds. Looking to make myself a priority again!

Christy, It is usually Wendy's chili first. I used to blend it when I was on the pureed stage. Then a little later it is cooked and mashed or pureed beans (non fat refried beans). I use canned fat free refried beans. Most restaurants have too much fat in their refried beans to be good for you. But many restaurants have the cooked beans (you can mash them yourself) and some are even offering low fat or fat free refried beans. I eat beans a lot when I am out and need a quick meal. Later on you can add pico de gallo and avocado and cheese! I have a number of healthy Mexican restaurants in my area so I can always get beans and save some for lunch the next day.

Today I bought Wendy's chili to bring for lunch tomorrow!

I love the beans in the heavy duty foil pouches, such as the Kitchens of India curried chick peas. I just strain off the soup that it's in and eat the peas. YUM! Goya also makes a black bean soup that comes in the can with the red label, also yummy. Love hummus, but have to find a brand without too much added fat.

This is my forth week. I buy beans in a bag and cook them myself. I. Have never had refried beans.

I wasn't allowed to have beans until 4 weeks out. Not sure why.

Refried Beans were good, but only the non-fat kinds. Some of them are made with lard! Yuck! But pureed chili, yummm. Baby rice cereal for breakfast with cinnamon and splenda. Jello, yogurt, and soups. I know you said you don't typically like soup, but you may find that you do now. I never have been able to do milk since my surgery and chicken and shrimp have always been no nos. Hang in there, this is a short phase and soon you will be eating more normally.

Go Nevada Wolfpack!

Do you like Ranch dressing? I heard someone suggest (in my class) adding the ranch mix to mashed potatoes to make them taste better. Since we can't load them up with the butter we used to use lol.

I'm curious about the refried beans though. My nutritionist told me I couldn't eat beans for a while after surgery b/c of the fiber??? I need to confirm that b/c if I can eat those that would be awesome!

Thank you all for your suggestions. I dislike more food than I like. I dislike most of what I am supposed to be eating now. I still don't like them. My nutritionist allowed me to have mashed potatoes but the taste didn't appeal to me but I am loving Jiff creamy peanut butter. I am looking forward to pureed beans but I dislike all soups.

I know I am not getting enough calories per day because I feel so weak when I go out and walk. I have to find alternative food choices.

Split Pea Soup and Refried beans I lived on those for a few weeks. Sorry I can't give you any more ideas I guess I am not picky with my food, I like just about everything.

But my taste has changed there are things that I don't really like any more since surgery.

I was surprised to find that my pubic library had several very good weight loss surgery cookbooks with hundreds of recipes for all stages. I found so many good ones when I was on that stage, but I moved up to solid food so quickly that I don't recall too many specifics. I remember these were two of my favorites from the library:

If the choice is that or a protein drink you might find that the food on the list tastes better than the protein drink!

I also did yogurt - the drinkable kind in the small bottle (kids size). It worked well for me - I don't usually like yogurt but this was good. You might also try some of the things you don't think you care for - your tastes may have changed. Good luck!

I believe in taking a positive attitude toward the world. My hope still is to leave the world a little bit better than when I got here.

yogurt. and what was on the list. along with protein shakes, the reason your asked to eat those is to maintain your protein intake, tuff through it to get to the real food later. you can make anything and process it into pureed. i did baby food for that stage, still have some in the event i ever get sick, and need to go slow into food again...i did yogurt and babyfood. and protein shakes.

I had the Sleeve three weeks ago amd I get to move to thin purees this week. I am stuck for more food options. I never realized how picky of an eater I am untill noe. I don't eat/like eggs, milk, soups, cottage cheese, and cream cheese. According to the list the doctor gave me this doesn't leave me with many options.
What did you eat during this stage?
