The veggies and herbs in the spa water can stay in for 2 days, and then should be discarded. Overnight is the minimum, since the flavor will not really infuse the water unless it sits overnight. Thereafter, the flavors may continue to get stronger, so take them out whenever the flavor seems just right to your tastes. You can also refill it with more water and keep using it for a second day with the same veggies/fruits. After that, start over with a fresh batch to avoid risk of any veggie decay or bacterial growth.

It sounds like you could brew your spearmint tea right in the same pitcher of spa water overnight. It's like the concept of making sun tea, only it is safer when done in the fridge, so there is no danger of bacterial growth. The grated ginger idea sounds fantastic. They even sell little trays of frozen grated ginger cubes in the store now.

I will definitely try the MIO Peach Tea, thanks for the tip.

You rest you rust.

My sister LOVES Mio but I wasn't a huge fan.... I drink sugar free Hawaiian punch and use a blender bottle to mix it up but if you don't like Crystal light you probably won't like it. I have noticed water takes different, almost more chlorinated since surgery. I will try the spa water, it sounds neat! Not a coffee or tea drinker so I don't have much interest in that....

What about regular juices diluted with water?

Janene, I was reading on the internet about the peptic ulcers to see what the symptoms are. One of them is nausea after eating. I hope this is not what you have. It does match with most of my symptoms. I am calling the GI office tomorrow to beg them to get me in earlier. I have been miserable with indigestion and gas for most of the day.

I do drink peppermint/spearmint herbal tea and lemon chamomile herbal tea. I just forgot to mention it. All the other herbal teas have rose hip or hibiscus and those taste terrible to me and make me sick to my stomach. I drink those all day at work.

Tracy, That drink sounds interesting. Do you eat the veggies or take them out in the morning?
Aquarians, I will look up spa waters. I have used other fruit (berries and melons) in water. I used to have a co-worker who would cut up cantaloupe and freeze it. Then add it to a pitcher of water. I think she added sugar but I could it without the sugar. I had not remembered that one until you mentioned the spa water.

If you have not tried the MIO Liquid I really do recommend the Peach Tea flavor. One squeeze into your water. It is not a powder so it mixes much easier than crystal lite.
I may try the watermelon MIO or was it watermelon & some other fruit that next time I go to the store. Mio has 24 servings per bottle.

Thanks for the ideas. I will try them this week.

Same thing happened to me...loved plain water before...now I can't stand it...drink mixes taste too strong or too acetic.

I have discovered spa waters this summer. They are very mild and natural, and there are many variations. My favorite is to slice 1 cucumber and 1 lemon and soak them in a pitcher of water overnight in the fridge. The next day, it is delicious and has additional health benefits. Some people also enjoy mint leaves, rosemary leaves, and other types of fruits in their spa water. It's fun to experiment. If you google spa water recipes, you can see there is endless variety. I'm thinking of trying green apple slices with orange next time I shop. I make them in a gallon beverage jar with dispenser at the bottom, which makes it easy to fill my travel mug before I leave the house.

As a bonus, the enzymes are good for digestion, and cucumber in particular is good for our shrinking skin. It has a natural cooling effect on the body, which you can feel the moment you start drinking. I have also found that opening a capsule of probiotic powder and adding that to my protein drink helps with tummy troubles. I have not run this last part past the doctor, so use your own research and judgement on whether to try this for yourself.

Herbal teas? You could trying drinking them cold or hot of course. Right now I am trying Tazo Calm tea (hot) and it seems to help with the nausa. I am so confused what could be causing it. I get plenty of water in a day, more really than I need. I will talk to my doctors office to see if they have any ideas.

Let me say I hate the taste of water since my RNY! I do not like the taste of bottled or tap water. I also get sick if I add sweetened (artificial sweetener, fructose or sugar) drinks. So I always struggle to find liquids to drink.

My favorite drink is decaf coffee with fat free half and half and now with my indigestion problems I may need to not drink the decaf until my GI doctor appointment at the end of Sept.

I do not like crystal light much as it is overly sweet tasting. I do not really like fruit flavored drinks. Caffeine is a problem and I limit my caffeine to one coffee protein drink.

I do like Mio flavor drops. They are not sugary sweet and mask the taste of the water.
I do like a wedge of lemon or orange in the water. I like the True Lemon dehydrated lemon crystals.

Does anyone have any more suggestions to flavor my water?
Does anyone have any more suggestions for other drinks?
