I agree with ITGallo, discomfort is normal but pain is not. Pain is not good at all. It may be something simple but just in case you need to call the doctor now. Do not wait until tomorrow. If you can not reach the doctor do go to the emergency to have it checked out. It is better to be cautious when dealing with surgery. If something is wrong then waiting could make it much worse.

Call your Surgeon's office and tell them about the pain. My surgeon told me to call if I had any problems. I didn't have any pain, and I slept most of the first week, so you may want to see what he says. Definitely keep your appointment, things get better, and this is surgery so take the time to heal.

Yes Larae, sipping is the key to hydration. It gets better and the gas goes away as well. You are on a grand adventure, but it is surgery, so get plenty of rest and allow yourself the chance to heal. Keep sipping.

Glad to hear things are going better for you. Hang in there and just sip what you can all day long. You might become a two-fisted drinker and have your water and protein near at all times. Sip from one and then sip from the other. As for the gas, walk as much as you can - that helped me. Good luck!

I believe in taking a positive attitude toward the world. My hope still is to leave the world a little bit better than when I got here.

Glad you are doing ok! I do not know anything about sleeve recovery. I only know two people who had it and neither of them had any problems after surgery and were onto soft food within a couple of days.

Sorry, I can't help with advice.

Glad to hear you don't have a lot of pain. I had RNY and on day 3 was back in the ER because of pain ~YUK~
I was the same as you in the beginning about liquids, just take a sip every few minutes. Yes you feel like you are drowning but before you know it will all pass and you will be able to drink on oz. or two then 4 oz then tadaa, you won't feel like you are drowning anymore.
Good luck sweetie and congrats on your new life!!!!

Hey girl!!! Don't know if thats norm but wanted to thank u for posting!!!

Sorry ur in pain. :(

~Christy~
Had the Gastric Sleeve 11/9/11. Lost a good amount before, a little less after and stalled when I was told my 2 lbs. a week average wasn't fast enough. Held my weight for at least 6 months and for the first time ever I got pregnant. At 8 weeks I lost the baby and didn't care about anything for the 2 years that followed! Gained 50+/- pounds. Looking to make myself a priority again!

I had the VSG on Monday and I ws sent home yesterday. I don't have much pain just a lot of gas. It is all I can do to keep enough liquids in me, forget about protein. I try to have a sshake but 3 sips seem to be my limit or all drinks. Is this normal?
