My first library job was as circulation assistant at a private university. I worked an nights and one of my jobs was to file catalog cards and the librarian would double check in the morning and "drop the cards." I was so proud when I was approved to "drop the cards." Now days so many people have no idea what I am talking about.
Currently pretty much working my dream job. I am the director of a small community college library.

My first library job was as a student worker as an undergraduate. I worked in technical services, processing materials and copy cataloging. Easy to say I caught the library bug then! :)
My first professional library job was as a part-time librarian at the same library. I staffed the reference desk in the evenings, did ILL, and cataloged some music scores.
As for my dream job...I keep changing my mind! I think it would be awesome to work at the Library of Congress or maybe an international library just to see a different perspective. More realistically, I would like to be a cataloger or metadata librarian. My "roots" in technical services still shows!

I'm in both - my first library job (as a librarian) - as a systems librarian - which was my dream job when I was in library school. My very first library job was an internship with teen services and the teen librarian was such a great person she inspired me to be a librarian myself. :)
