emoticon to the group. sometimes just having some one that's in the same situation that you are and talking with each other can help us all. because sometimes I feel like I'm in this battle by myself, until i log on and read other people sucess or failures. and yeah you are border line on that blood pressure, so i hope to hear a lot from you on the boards. Michelle

Hello everyone!! I figured I better introduce myself, heehee. I don't post a lot, but I do read a lot and appreciate all the advice I get here on SP. I originally started in the ~~100 Plus Club~~ (and still post there) but after 3 months of "trying it" my husband's way, my cholesterol is actually up as is my blood pressure So I knew I better find more help here on SP!! LOL

I live in South Dakota, work part-time as a Switchboard Operator at the hospital, we have 2 dogs (a 5 year old German Shepherd/Husky/Border Collie and a 4 month old Australian Shepherd), 4 cats and a pygmy hedgehog. I also have a 14 year old son, and we all love living in our rural town of 267. (The hospital is 20 miles away! LOL) In my spare time I love to read, crochet, cross stitch, sew, bead, whatever. What I need to do is start walking, too.

To start, I'm going to read "Controlling Cholesterol for Dummies" and the "Cooking to Control Cholesterol for Dummies". I've already found some yummy recipes that even my DH might try!! LOL I'm going to work on my cholesterol and stress management and we'll see how my BP looks when I go back to my dr. in 3 months. At this point, she (my PA-C) has me on cholesterol meds, but no BP meds. It's not horribly high, 142/82, but it's definitely higher than it needs to be.

So, that's me in a nutshell. I'm glad to be aboard!!

From www.GoRedForWomen.com : Cardiovascular disease is public enemy No. 1, claiming the lives of more women than the next five causes of death combined — almost twice as many as all forms of cancer. ... Educate yourself and your loved ones about heart disease and stroke. Then do something about it.
