Oops! I lean mine up against the wall all of the time. That's nice of them to not put that in the booklet. Thanks for the information.

Mine just told me the other day that it hoped I was not leaning it against a wall when I wasn't using it because it could mess up its circitry. I wish it had tols me that 2 years ago, because yes, I'd been leaning it up against a wall :(

I have not weighed myself on the Wii board for a long time. I do not even remember the last time I did a body test. I encountered strange weight readings also. Believe me I wish the numbers were true. I need to give it a try again and give the board a good cleaning if needed. Before experiencing those strange readings I would get mumbers that were pretty close to the bath room scale

I was having trouble with my board shutting off. It is over 2 years old. I read online what to do. I cleaned the whole board with rubbing alcohol. Then I got a can of air spray like you would use on a keyboard for a computer. I used that in all the cracks and the battery compartment. I then reset it. Remember you have to press both buttons at the same time (on the balance board and the console), but don't hold longer than 7 seconds I believe. I have had no trouble since.

Lol, yeah, I've yet to find time to watch the video presentation from E3...was too busy getting ready to have a yard sale. Maybe I'll watch it tonight while walking on the treadmill. :)

I say ignore the body tests and the weigh ins, since you weigh yourself on a regular scale you really don't need to worry about the one on the WII fit. Have fun and get your exercise in. That's the important part.

Tamara, is it because you're putting in 4-6 pounds for clothing? Part of it could be that, because it does deduct that amount from the total it weighs being on it.

MRB, I know the Wii has Gamecube comparability, but I was thinking that the new WiiU would have it as well (don't think it does though). As for how to play Gamecube games, you would only need a Gamecube controller and possibly memory card (although I'm not sure if a card is still required, might save to the Wii, but not sure).

Wii is already compatible with gamecube. I think you have to have a special part to use it with Wii but I don't remember what. I am curious how much $$ it will be for the new Wii.

Mine weighed me in yesterday at about 4-6 pounds lighter than I really am, but the reduction in weight was correct from the last time I weighed in. So, it is consistent with the number lost, just not the number reached. Does that make any sense? I put new batteries in mine too, and it did the same thing. Go figure. I'll use the scale in the bathroom.

It is amazing how long it takes to finish something you aren't working on.

From what I understand the old Wii will still be made for the "casual gamer". The new one coming out Wii U is more for the "hard core gamer". We should be fine.

yeah, me too. I got mine year before last I think. or Christmas of 08 possibly. we've bought a lot of games for it and sure can't afford to do it all again with another system. but I bet they're planning to come out with a motion recognition system like the X-box Kinect. Anyway, I'm sure they'll continue to SELL games, I just doubt they'll DEVELOP more games.

I heard Wii is obsolete and they're going to quit making them. if so, I doubt anyone is going to develop new games for them. to bad, I would have enjoyed to have another version of Walk it Out.

We got it when it was first released. It took a long time before it cracked...I had actually heard of it here before it was broke for us.

The shutting off is definitely the cracking--it might look like (mechanical) pencil marks and it's in the left heel area. If you really focus on your feet, you might notice that it's dented down slightly or slightly softer than the rest. The problem is that it's directly above the battery area and it pinches a wire causing a loss of power for a second. The blue power light on the board is then flashing, which takes a bit to stop (usually hold it down until it goes off, then back on). It's worse when bouncing or pushing on the board.

Not sure about wiggling, but it does cause an offset in balance.

we discovered that some areas of our rug was thicker than others (got rid of the coffee table to make room for the wii) and if we set the board down in a slightly dif. spot our weight can vary a lot.

Sensor bar--all it does is emit infrared light, you could actually substitute two candles (one at each end of the bar) and still have a working Wii.

Calibrating--the board does that every time at startup, that why you have to wait to step on it...just like most new digital bathroom scales.

It might be the crack issue, I'm not sure...but try this--try standing on the left, then try standing on the right...see if on is more accurate (I'd guess the right side, if it's the cracked board issue). You could also try contacting Nintendo support and see what they say about it.

As for E3, there's supposed to be a new console coming out (for all three companies), but rumors are Nintendo's new one will be backwards compatible with both Wii and Gamecube. Tuesday should be exciting.

You are too funny. I never had that problem. But... I am thinking that it may have to do with someone inputting the amount of weight your clothes are at the beginning of the weigh in. For instance, 2 pounds, 4 pounds, more pounds. Go back and subtract the overage at the beginning and see if it stablizes your weight. Adjust it as necessary, along with your bathroom scale. It may need to be calibrated, it could be humidity, it could be the batteries are bad, or it could be the board itself.

Good luck.

Now that you said something about the board I do remember some people talking about their boards going bad and sending them back to wii. I read it on sparks so you could search sparks or google it.

Definitely new batteries since I had to go out and buy new ones! We have two wiis in our house and I tried even switching which wii I used (same board, since we only have one) and they're both the same (both wrong) so it has to be the board. I used it on carpeting, but I have been doing so for the year and a half I've had it. I also weigh in after I wake up each morning, before I eat breakfast. Its just odd ;) I know its not the most accurate piece of equipment, but it was fun to use the graphs to track my BMI and progress, but now its just sad.

Thanks for all the imput!

I do have issues with the weight thing, so I just ignore it and play with it for activity. I've had my EA lock on me too, glad to hear it wasn't just something I did. I'm not too electronically minded, so don't putz with the stuff. Either it works or it doesn't (and I call one of my girls for help LOL)

I do know if I eat bananas instead of ice cream My weight goes down Not 56 pounds. This is a really stupid question but are you sure they were fresh batteries? Sometimes kide are to lazy to walk to the garbage and they toss there old batteries close to the new batteries They know which ones are witch but the person the buys them doesn't until it's to late. Have you heard if wii is coming out with anything new? I keep looking it up. I want to play the BL games without the ea locking up or you have to change the batteries in the middle from what I heard. My ea2 waits till you are almost done with the work out and then it locks you and you can do nothing. I played the xbox kinect and was it a blast. Too bad for wii if they don't follow this path. There are a lot of us game type people with money that are looking for fun ways to workout. BTW Zumba would be more fun it the sencor bar would pick you up half the time and need I say that your shape game. Every time the dan dog walked into the room I lost points and heard how my leg wasn't working hard enough and did I need to review the instructions. I am strongly thinking of jumping the fence. and if I go box I don't think I would come back. I have to wait till wed. to watch E3 2011 to see what I want to do. Right now I am finishing a roof and then finishing tiling a room the tv is going into.
My best to you. Maybe it's the sensor bar.

I would take the batteries out and try it again. I was told that your weight will fluctuate depending on what you set the platform on, but I didn't think it would by that much. Do you set it on a hard floor or carpeting?

Too bad it wasn't telling th truth huh???

So I've been noticing that after changing the batteries in my wii board, my weight has been subject to some pretty extreme discrepencies and my weight is no where near what it actually is. However yesterday I dropped 35 pounds, and today I dropped another 21. So I have apparently either discovered the secret to fast and effective weight loss (Must be the bananas I bought) or my wii fit is a big fat liar.

Since I did not have to go out and buy new clothes (after 56 pounds you'd think they would be much looser) and my bathroom scale is still reporting a depressing lack of weightloss, I am assuming that the problem is the moral integrity of my wii fit. Has anyone has a problem like this before? Is there a way to recalibrate it? Or should I just ignore the body tests and weigh ins and just use it for fun and exercise?

Wishing you all the best!
