Do be sure to use the feet extenders--they look like the feet on the board, but they fit snug, but easily removable, on the feet. This will give a bit of extra height. The goal is to keep the middle of the board from touching anything that would cushion it from being able to sense the motions of the person using it, but slight touching wont hurt.
Btw, I also have carpet and it works fine.

anytime. I had wondered the same thing, but have had no problems with it. I even bought the "riser" for it, which also sits very solid and gives me the extra "umph" of height when I want it and is still very stable on the carpet. Have fun with it.
It works fine as far as exercising. I've noticed the weight thing never jives on mine, but maybe I just set that part up wrong or something. But I dont have any stability problems with it on the carpet.
