I don't have EA Active 2 (have the first ones, haven't used them--Hubby has though, but anyway).
From what I understand the HRM can only be used within the EA Active 2 game. I'm guessing it only takes readings and the game is what records it.
When you buy a HRM (which the BodyBugg on BL is NOT one..it works differently), you (usually) get a strap that goes around the chest (to measure heartbeats) and a watch to gather the data and record it. I'm thinking that the game piece is just the strap, although it looks like it goes around the forearm (looking at the box art) and the game is the watch part.
Now there are other HRMs that are just a watch and you have to press your thumb or fingers to special pads on the watch to take a reading--these are not continuous unlike the strap models that are continuously reading your heart rate.
As for the BodyBugg (the product on Biggest Loser), it actually measures things like skin temperature and sweat (I think) to calculate how many calories a person is burning. It does not register the heart rate, and therefore is not labeled as a HRM (heart rate monitor). Some people complain about it not registering heart rate, but I'm not sure that it affects the accuracy or not. Many do like the BodyBugg, including (I think) Tema (who first posted this thread).
