JEANUT, sounds like you found a snug place for it so that it won't wiggle so much...lol. ;)

I've been annoyed by that too. What seems to happen with me is, if I put it in my pocket, then first it bounces up when I step, but them it hits my "apron" (I think that's the nice word for it?) and bounces back down so the counter gives me 2 steps for every 1 I do on that side.

Mostly I have tried holding it in my hand, which works if I am swinging my arms a bit but not so much if I forget to. I had assumed that some sort of thigh strap would work, but I haven't used Free Run enough to be annoyed by it. Maybe in winter when it's not nice enough to walk outside.

Although from what I read here, maybe it doesn't get much better.

I was thinking about crocheting a pouch for it but I've got so many things on my to do list it will be after christmas before I can get to it. I think what I'm going to do is use a safty pin to secure the strap in my pocket, then I won't have to worry about it coming out.
LOL can't put it in my sports bra that's over stuffed already. (Sorry to any guys that may be in the group

Some suggestions I've heard before that work for various people (I've just given up, though...lol.)

--Wear it in a snug pocket, so it doesn't wiggle so much.
--Have it vertical, some say say one way, some say the other (to which end up).
--Have it horizontal/flat (probably holding at waist?).
--Put it in the middle of your sports bra. (yes, that's really a suggestion that works for someone(s).)
--I think there are probably some that like that Wii Fit green/white designed fanny pack looking thing.
--I think some just hold it, either at their side or even while swinging arms in natural motions.

I tried making a "pocket" using a sock and two strings, first tied the strings on the leg but still it was making comments about my uneven pace and about me slowing down... then I made the strings longer and wrapped them around my waist: same result... So I gave up LOL

I also ignore that uneven comment. My problem is when I fall down and then they tell me I'm going too fast. LOL Like I couldn't figure that out when my avatar fell down. I have problems holding it steady or it staying in my pocket so I'm going to make something to put it in Fanny packs don't fit me or I'd try one of them.

I wouldn't worry about the "uneven" messages. That's just how the game scores you. Just do your thing and have fun! You could also do the free run, switch your TV over to something a little more interesting than the island, and catch up on your shows ;)

I tried the wii fit free jogging today, instead of the usual Leslie Sansone mile. I liked it and managed to walk about 4 miles but it keeps telling me that my pace is uneven... I know it is very even because I move my legs with the music, so I am obviously doing something else wrong but no idea what. I remember I had same problem with the other 2 jogging options, that's why I quit using them. I tried with the wiimote in my pocket and in my hand, still same result :(
Any suggestions? I would really love to use wii fit instead of the DVDs but this uneven pace business is really annoying.

What I like about the Wii is the number of activities that are fun so I am getting my exercise while thinking about something else.

I use the Wii Fit a lot. But I get a lot of my cardio from the biking one, also the flying one and the obstacle course (until you get to higher level, trying not to slide on ice is less aerobic work). I think I'll probably end up getting Walk It Out, once it's no longer pleasant to walk along the beach in real life and once the price comes down more.

I did get Just Dance, largely because my daughters are all dancers and I knew they'd enjoy it. In fact hey like it more tha I thought, and I find it more of a workout than I expected. I don't recall any of the dance steps involving impact, though.

I'm waiting to see how the Zumba reviews turn out. It sounds like so much fun, and I am too chicken to go for a real class.

Oh and I use these for motivation to make cardio fun. For my resistance training I use the Sparkpeople fitness tracker to set me up with a set of 6 exercises to do while watching TV 3x a week, once they get easy I switch them up.

Well, yesterday I did the tutorials and today I had my first lesson of Gold's Gym Cardio and I had so much fun! Punching is definitely something that makes me feel good afterwards :)
The heart rate goes a bit high yes but the beginners lessons are short [today's one was 6 minutes] so definitely doable even for me.
I found a copy of Walk It Out on sale in ebay and i am trying to get it; you don't see many in the UK. But there are many Just Dance so I will try to get that too.
My left knee is a bit dodgy, I can't put too much weight on it, but the right one works ok so no big deal, I just avoid bending too much. Can't wait for tomorrow's lesson :D
Thank you all for the great advice!

yeah, I guess they are, as they are a lot more on the fast side.

(I was wondering if he actually had someone special there to monitor until he was cleared to exercise on his own. It did say that he was cleared after she left, so maybe then it was okay? Or possibly a gym trainer to keep an eye out?)

I think for people looking for low impact Walk it Out works great. I have Just Dance and Gold's Gym and both are very high impact IMHO. I think starting with Walk It Out is a good way to go to work up to the others.

PM: I saw the same Jillian Michael's show. I think it is great when you have Jillian and the crew there to supervise, but when you are on your own, it is a whole different story.

ugh and ouch on the high heart rate...I recently watched a Jillian Michaels' episode where the dad had been diagnosed with sleep apnea so bad that he couldn't workout over a heart rate of 140. That was so not cool, and even at the lower heart rates he was struggling. It was a scary thing. (and, yeah, I'm behind on the show, I record them.)

Something else I thought of---for those that don't have as much leg mobility/strength/etc....You could try doing Samba De Amigo or We Cheer or Just Dance, or even Gold's Gym. They're more upper body than lower, or can be modified to be that way.

Samba De Amigo is like you're pretending to use maracas and is pretty much just the arms. I stand up and sort of dance along with it, though.

We Cheer and Just Dance actually function mostly the same, other than in single player mode you can actually use two remotes, one for each hand. In multiplayer mode, it goes to being just the right hand, though. At a guess I'd say the moves differ a bit, as one is cheerleading and one is dancing. It would be a bit challenging to do this sitting down, as some of the motions can get big, but it could be done with just the hands (although dancing/moving with it really helps).

Of course, Gold's Gym has already been talked about, but it can be done without the feet as well. It does encourage the user to rock or bounce back and forth on them, but it's not necessary.

lol, just me thinking about those that can't really bounce on their knees...

Actually with Walk It Out, you walk to the beat of the music. You have to earn points to get different songs and you are working on building an Island. You put up the trees, buildings etc. The play list is good or sometimes I just listen to different music and usually can figure out the beat on the screen.

Do you sweat? Well, that depends on what kind of shape you are in. I use it for easy cardio days and after strength workouts or to cool down. Sometimes I will dance to the songs to get my heart rate up more. It actually is fun and interesting and very addicting.

Hope that helps.

Good Afternoon, Walk It Out sounds like a good game but is it like the WIIS on the WII Fit? There are two walking games on that. Is Walk It Out similar and do you sweat when you do it? I have a Gazelle but it gets boring after a while and I am looking for something else to do.
Thanks for you time and have a good evening.

Have to agree Walk it Out is the way to begin. You can take it at your pace and don't have to use the balance board. As you get stronger, you can move onto other games.

Walk It Out is a great choice, especially if you like the Leslie Sansone DVDs. It's the closest thing to them. Check the price on Amazon for that too; it tends to be cheaper.

I am 51. Started this a few months ago at over 240 pounds. Down to the 180's now. I highly suggest Walk It Out. Great game for someone like you to get from the 'extremely unfit' to the 'getting fitter' stage. You'd be surprised how dropping a few pounds makes your joints hurt a lot less. 53 pounds for me so far, just walking is more than 200 pounds of pressure off my knees. Running is more than 800 pounds of pressure off my knees.

For that reason alone I continue to try and get 'fitter'.

You'll LOVE walk it out.

Have to say that Walk It Out is worth any price. it is the best. Walking and shopping so much fun. I actually lose time while playing. But it too is only as active as you make it. If you only do the slow songs not much of a work out. If you only do the fast songs you will be sweating.

Thank you for all your replies, so helpful! You are right many games are out soon; I had a look in Amazon for the release dates and since EA Sport Active 2 is out next November I decided to wait for it, and I got Gold's Gym instead because it was on offer. Just came back from the shop :D
Being 49 my joints are starting to give up a bit but apart from usual wear and tear I don't think there is anything wrong with my knees and back, I guess I will know soon enough... I hope I won't break LOL
Yes I tried the wii fit games, I usually do the 1 mile walk with Leslie Sansone DVD [I wish it was available for the wii] then the boxing superadvanced which is the maximum level I was able to get, then steps and 10 minutes of yoga and strength. I just wanted to introduce something new to avoid getting bored with it. Since I love the boxing on the wii fit I guess I will like this new one too. I live in the UK and probably the release dates are different from most of you, so I was wondering if the 10 Minute Solution is already out in the US and if it is, do you like it?
Prices for Walk It Out and The Biggest Loser are a bit steep so that will have to wait :(

EDIT: I see now that The Biggest Loser is on offer on Amazon, very cheap actually! The reviews say that it is a bit hard though, maybe too much for me.

@MommyT: You are right, I am a bit fitter than I was one month ago, I notice that I can walk for longer and I don't risk passing out on the stairs anymore... but still when I exercise my heart rate gets extremely high so that sometimes I have to stop a couple of minutes to get it down. That's why I am trying not to overdo.

"Just Dance" is on the the "tour" with "Wii Games 2010". It's not part of the challenge, but it's a game to try for fun. I got to do...I think it was "Eye of the Tiger"--it really made me work! I liked it. But being a demo game could be helping its sales.

I love GG's Cardio Workout. It can be pretty low impact, too. (it has you shifting your weight from front to back, front, back, etc., but you can do that with keeping your feet on the ground or even not do the shifting if it's too hard)

I think EA Active can be a bit more high-impact, or at least harder on the knees. However, I also think that you can deselect the ones that you don't want to do and be able to modify it that way.

I also like Biggest Loser and Dance Dance Revolution. (DDR can have the jumps turned off, not sure about BL when it comes to high/low impact as I lost my game and only played a couple of times.)

Also, there will be a new Biggest Loser and a new Gold's Gym (something about dancing), as well as a new Just Dance coming out sometime this fall.

If your only thing is being overweight, you can probably handle most of the games. But if you have a problem with your knees---that will be something to be more careful with. Considering that you've lost ~30 or so pounds (can't remember exactly how much now, looked at your ticker earlier), I think that you're probably a bit more fit than you think, at least more than you used to be.

If there are some physical limitations (knees, back, etc.), then probably mention that here so we can help a bit more. Otherwise, I think any of the options out there could be good.

(edit/add--duh, I didn't read the post before where it said that the other games were coming out (I read the rest, just not that to see what games were listed...lol).)

Zumba doesn't come out until later this year. Just Dance is out now, and it is really fun. (I read today it is on the top 10 best sellers of 2010 list!) You get what you put into it though; the game only registers your arm movements (and your right arm at that), but if you really get into it and mimic the dancer on screen, you will definitely break a sweat!

Dance on Broadway is out; it's a lot like Just Dance as far as imitating the dancer on screen, but it's Broadway tunes. They tend to be choreographed similarly to the actual production, which is neat, but I found it a lot harder to follow the moves because there are 4 dancers on screen (and not everyone has the same moves). I didn't find myself working up much of a sweat either.

Release dates:
Gold's Gym Dance Workout - 8/17
Just Dance 2 - 10/12
Zumba Fitness - 11/30

Thank you team members for the suggestions about getting different WII games--I am getting tired of the ones that came with the WII. The Zumba or dancing one interests me. Those of you that have those--do you like them?

Unless you have knee pain, I think EA Sports Active is probably the best of the lot. With both cardio and strength, it gives you a good workout with a lot of variety. They have an easy/medium/hard difficulty setting, so as Chansen mentioned, you can change that. (I find that on the first version, the difficulty was based upon number of reps, but the second version is a little more specific.) I started out weighing 258 and doing EASA's 30 Day Challenge. It was just enough challenge to get me started.

Gold's Gym is also a great game though, and it always makes me sweat (even 50 pounds lighter, lol).

Hi we have the Wii fit plus and I love it. You can start off with the lower step ups, walking, boxing, etc. then work your way up with it.

Have you tried the Wii Fit Plus exercises yet? The Step and Advance Step would probably be a good one, if you haven't tried them, yet.

I have the EASA Workouts and More Workouts and you can set them to low, medium or high settings. I don't know what limitations you have, so it would be hard to tell what would be good for you.

Good luck.

Hi everyone, I bought my wii about a month ago with Sports, Sports Resort and Wii Fit Plus. Apart from being very very overweight [234lb on a small frame], I never did any sports or workouts in my life.
I wanted to buy a new game, and reading your posts I was thinking of getting EA Sport Active or Gold's Gym Cardio Workout but not sure if maybe they are too demanding for a person in such a bad shape as me.
