FFO great you found something without taxing your knees. The swordplay was a hoot, I don't even cut my grandkids any slack. They have to work to beat grandma.

I'm so glad they came up with a game system that actually gets you moving.

OMG I love Swordplay!!! I played it (the showdown one) for like 15 min one day or maybe a little longer..the next day my arm, shoulders and back hurt and I couldn't figure out why...then it dawned on me IT WAS FROM SWORDPLAY. I really, really get into it. My hubby laughs at me cuz I'm just slicing it up and yelling and having a blast.

Thanks to my 12-year-old ... I'm challenged on a daily basis. Here are some other things that I've done that get me moving some ...

emoticonWii Sports Resort --

Table Tennis - As you get better at it, the games get longer, and the shots get trickier and you move more.

Swordplay -- You can progress against different opponents one by one ... or you can progress against armies of swordsmen. Either way, you get good sweat, and increased heart rate.

Canoe Races/Rowing -- Alternating left and right in the rowing motion, gets your heart rate up, makes you sweat, and tones the waist and upper back.

Cycling Race -- Can get your heart rate up if you're in it to win it.

Basketball - That 3-point-shot showdown is killer. For me, I have to make sure my eyes AND arms move toward where the basket ought to be, otherwise I miss, and because I hate being beat by the computer, I keep going and going.

Tennis Game -- Like table tennis above, but something about it seems more of a workout. I think your arms swing a lot more.

Baseball -- Really good sweat out of this one, especially if you play the full 3 innings.

Boxing -- Great for the heart rate. As the technique gets better, you get knocked out less often LOL. Gives you good sweat and a sense of accomplishment when you knock the stew out of your opponents. LOL.

This is what I can remember now, aside from Wii Fit and Wii Fit Plus.

I have knee surgery on Thursday and am trying to make sure I can keep exercising in a way that won't hurt the recovery. As knee surgeries go, it's baby one, but I won't have full mobility for a few days.

I only have Wii Sports and 'exercise' games so I didn't know there was 'game' games that would get us moving. Thanks.

Your story made me laugh because I did that last night with the Wii Resort Basketball. Just wanted to play one game but then thought I could beat my record. Pretending to really throw the ball gets your heart rate up also.

Way to go in finding something new to help you exercise without hurting your knee. Keep up the great work!!!

So I broke out my son's Wii Olympics with Mario and friends. I was just gonna play; had no intention of exercising. But I went to the track and field 100 m run ... you know you actually have to move your arms really fast to beat those little boogers. When I finished that, my heart was pounding a little bit, I felt my skin cool because the perspiration was about to start. So ... I did it ... again ....

and again and again. And it was fun! Here's to finding something else I can do while I'm rehabbing my knee. LOL Wooo-hoooo.
