Mine cracked on the left side as well and my hubby called Nintendo and they replaced it. Although they have no warranty on the balance board I think I yelled enough in the background that they finally gave in. My hubby had looked on the internet and a crack in the left area of the board was very common and he let Nintendo know that.
Mine makes noise on the left side as well... but I haven't noticed any cracks. I have the balance board going silent problem fairly often... mine seems to be when I'm doing things like balance bubble or table tilt.

When my friend's daughter was playing balance board games this weekend the balance board shut down three times with the light on the board blinking, but it was because she stepped too hard (in her excitement). We had to push the button until it reset itself, but then it was OK. She didn't jump on the board, just stepped heavily. It was one of the kids that noticed the hairline cracks. Maybe it would last forever this way, who knows. Might just be cosmetic, although the noise is annoying. If I step a bit farther toward the outside edge the noise stops, but it's awkward to change one's stance all the time one is playing.

There's no visible wear on my Wii Board, but I do get the same "cracking" or "popping" noise. I've stepped off a few times just to double-check to make sure there was no dirt or anything in any of the cracks. Occasionally, though, my Wii Board just "goes silent" while in the middle of a game- doesn't matter which kind either, the light blinks and I have to reset it (fresh batteries, too.) I wonder if it's related, but either way, my warranty's been up for over 3 months now.

I think I've had mine over a year also, but I also bought a Square Trade warranty for it. Will have to check into it and see what I can do. If it involves sending it somewhere, though, I might opt to keep it as a backup and get a new one. Will have to see. I noticed lately that when I do cycling or any kind of walking in place on the board that there is a noise when I step down on the board, like a "cracking" or "clicking" type noise... hard to describe. I did think that maybe the plastic somewhere on the board was being stressed, but thought it was underneath somewhere. It is still working fine, but I'm trying to be gentle with it so it will keep on working until I decide what to do.

I'm noticing a hairline crack or two on my balance board. Has anyone else had this happen? It's in the heel area on the left side. I'm not all that rough with it, but I do use it every day. Wondering whether I'll need to get a new one. Hate to have to send this one anywhere, as I would then be without for who knows how long.
