I haven't checked ebay yet, but it looks like you will do better on amazon.

It sounds like I should have talked to you all yesterday when I was standing in the store deliberating...should I or shouldn't I.

I'm a Canadian so the sale was for the Polar F6 HMR for 90 CAD at Sportcheck. Sale ended yesterday :( The online reviews were really good for it but I ended up thinking....do I really need this? Can I not just guesstimate on what my calorie burn is? Do I have to be such a sucker for every weight loss device out there? But Krista, you convinced me. I will give Kijiji and Craig's list a try and see what I find because ultimately, I just want to know. The last thing I want is to overstate my calorie burn and then end up not losing. And I've heard it said....you always think you are working out harder than you are and eating less than you do so maybe a HRM will keep me honest. (exercise wise anyway)

I've always thought wouldn't it be cool if someone could invent a device that you wore that would tell you exactly the calories you expended and exactly the calories you ate simply by eating them...pop in a lifesaver....oops, up 25 cal. Take a trip to the bathroom.....down 200 cal. Who wouldn't pay 3 months salary for that device!!!

BTW, I started BL on beginner as well. I don't think the workouts are any more difficult, they are just slightly shorter. Actually, the BL bumped me up all on it's own to moderate after last week's weigh in.

Sorry Carbo, I don't have EA so can't comment but I want to get it. I heard a newer version is coming out later this month so I thought I'd wait. I have never heard of My Shape. I'll have to google that now.

I'm curious about the difference between EA, BL and Fit? I'm overweight and out of shape, so I bought BL and also because it was cheap. My daughter on the other hand is very fit and struggles to keep weight on. (I swear she wasn't switched at birth!) She has Fit with the balance board. Would she get a better workout with EA or BL? Or would it be best to wait for the new Your Shape workout coming Nov 24th? I'm thinking Your Shape might be best for me.

Remember, nobody can go back to the very beginning and make a brand new start, but anyone can start here and make a brand new end.

You have to remember your calorie burn is based on your weight & heart rate & stuff too, so mine may not be the same as yours, but yes, i'm consistantly burning about 10cals per minute with BL, maybe a little less depending on how much of the workout is cardio & how much is strength. For example yesterdays workout, including warm up & cool down was 45 mins & I burned 376 calories. The workout had some plank stuff & low cardio stuff so it was a little lower but still a really decent calorie burn. I don't come anywhere near that on wii fit & to be honest I hadn't really kept track of the calories it told me I was tracking on wii fit plus because i was wearing my HRM.

As far as the Heart rate monitor, I cannot reccommend getting one enough. It changed how I workout. I now go longer & harder because I set goals to burn so many calories, and don't stop until I do. whereas before I was always guesstimating & I know now I was falling short Big Time. Even what in spark people for walking, running, etc is not exact, its not based on your specific body. If you do get one, get one with a chest strap, they are the best. I have a Polar & its awesome, its the cheapest one they sell, but does all I need it to do & I got it slightly used on Kijiji, but they have them on ebay or wherever too. worth the money 100 times over!

Oh, & i have BL set on the easiest setting. I learned my lesson with Ea SPorts Active when I started on the medium setting & hurt myself. Starting off easier this time, but still getting a heck of a workout!

Think about it Kilibound. With BL, you are constantly on the go from one extreme to another, doesn't matter that it is moderate, which is hard for me :), so I believe Krista about how many cals per minute she burns.

Now when I put my BL time in Wii Fit Plus, it gives me almost 3x what BL says I burned in calories, so I go by that.

How much was the hrm you saw and where was it?

Whoa, I misread that.....you burn 10 cal per minute with BL? Really? What setting do you have it on? Mine's on moderate and it's hard but 10 cal per minute seems high. No wonder you've lost so much!!

Hey Krista,

First of all, congrats on the 10lb weight loss since using BL!! That's just totally incredible and you are so right, when you think of how much money N. Americans spend each year in pursuit of losing just one pound and you've lost 10! Puts things in perspective.

Question for you. I don't have a HRM...almost bought one yesterday but in the end felt it was a splurge item and should live without but I am just so confused on how many cal I'm burning. With BL, I work my but off for 30 some odd minutes and it tells me I've burnt 46 cal! Like...don't you burn that simply breathing?? And then I go on my Wii Fit Plus and barely break a sweat in the same 30 min and it tells me around 130 cal. If you are using an HRM, how accurate is the Wii Fit Plus? Thank you for the estimate on BL. 10 cal per 10 min sounds more likely.

Well I'm not sure, I use a heart rate monitor so I put mine in manually but I will say I definately burn more calories doing Biggest Loser than Wii Fit plus. BIG TIME. I consistantly burn 10 cals a minute with BL or pretty close to it.

I don't mind squats, I would take 100 squats over 1 lunge. I hate lunges!! ugh!

I tried that, it didn't work. But that was yesterday. Today, my on again, off again relationship with Bob is now off again. Do you know that he made me do? Squats. A lot of them too.

Any hoo, I posted this on another board: Which do you think has the best workout, more intense? The Biggest Loser or Wii Fit Plus? Do you think we should log our points from BL under the Wii high intensity fitness? I think it should be aerobics high intensity because you work harder. What say you?

Gee I don't know Peggy. Maybe you had to go onto the calendar & hit the padlock to change it & add additional activity for the day. I haven't come across that yet.

Hey CARBOHOLIC08, I was sore for two days after my first two bouts with it. But when I worked out Saturday and Sunday, it wasn't that bad. I don't hate Bob as much as I did Thursday.

BTW Krista, after I worked out on the BL yesterday, I turned around and did an hour or so on the WFP. But when I tried to go back into the BL, it wouldn't let me log that time. Could it be because I had did the challenge and weigh-in?

That does seem low. Personally I wouldn't go below 1200 cals a day. Your body needs fuel. The BL game recommends 1800 for me. You might want to check your settings, perhaps you entered something wrong. Good Luck & don't worry I had the creeks & cramps the first couple of work outs too. The go away, just do your warm up & cool down if you have time & drink lots of water, that helps :)

I just got it yesterday and tried it last night. At the beginner level I was really getting into it and felt a twinge in my lower back half way through the 2nd challenge, so I stopped. Then did the cool down and stretching and popped something out in my upper back. I am such a klutz! I can't wait for the muscle spasms to stop so I can get back to it. I'm top heavy, so I'll be sure to wear my heavy duty no-bounce bra from now on.

I have a question though. The Biggest Loser recommended 1132 calories for me. That's 108 below my recommended intake from SP. Has anyone else gone below 1200 calories?

Hi Jan,

I love it! I'm a big fan of the show too but the game is a good workout & fun too.

You can go under cardio and hit "add Cardio" The next page shows 1) Search 2) Browse and 3) Favorites

- go to Browse and there is a box to your left that says Walking/Running - pull this down and you will see "other exercises"
- hit it and than hit the Browse button next to it

- go to the bottom of this list and there will be two items for Wii Fit Exercise.

Hope this helps.

Have FUN!

For those of you that have the Biggest Loser game, can you tell me how you would log your fitness points for your workouts? I logged them as aerobics high and low impact depending on the exercise. Your help will be greatly appreciated.
