Our HSM Disney one is for the PS2. We bought it some time ago, before we had the Wii. But we still have our PS2, so it's all good. ;) I haven't seen it for the Wii.

I have the DDR Hottest Dance Party but my kids don't like the music as much. I have seen one Disney version that comes with 2 control pads but my kids are 14 and 11 and the graphics lead me to believe that the music is going to be more to the liking of the under 8 crowd some of the tunes were supposedly remixes of songs from Lion King and Cinderella. Is there one for the Wii that has music from High School Musical or other more teen or tween movies? (I have seen the HSM for the PS2 but I would rather just buy the game itself as we already have the mat and don't have room for 2 to play at the same time).

I agree with Leahsdad, DDR seems to overestimate the calories burned. i list it on Spark page by the amount of minutes Under disco dancing. Spark people rates the amount as less calories burned, --which is more likely the case.

The mat my wife and I have is a basic mat that does roll up and tends to move around; so after a couple of songs the mat usually has to be moved back to the middle of the floor. I agree in that DDR is a calorie burner, but I can't help but wonder how accurate it is in showing how many calories have actually been burned. I am no doctor or anything, but it seems to me that the accuracy of the calories burned may be a little off.
Overall though it is a rather fun thing to do.

DDR is a calorie burner in my opinion. Now I haven't lost a lot of weight on it lately (I'm on a plateau or something) but when I use it I do feel a lot more energetic and healthier.
As you know, you can set it for how many calories to burn in the workout mode, and when you've reached that goal it will tell you. If it weren't the middle of the night right now, and I'd wake up my husband, I'd go use it right now!

It is for me, but it's like a lot of things--the more you put into it (the bigger and more vigorous the motions), the more workout you get. Also, the better you get, the better the workout. But more important to me, I enjoy it, so the time I do it flies by.

And bonus for me, my daughter was getting a tiny bit pudgy (which is not so good for a majorette), and I got the Disney version of it (with Hannah Montana and High School Musical songs). She's slim and toned again. :) She LOVES it, and flies through the expert steps faster than my eyes can register which step comes next!

Would you guys say that the Dance Dance game is a calorie burner? I can't dance, but I think I might like it.

I don't win races, but I always cross the finish line. I'm not fast, but I try my best to become faster. I don't have sports endorsements or earn a paycheck, but that doesn't stop me from running. My pace does not define me. Just because "professional" does not precede "athlete" in describing me doesn't make my running any less valuable. I am an everyday athlete; leading a normal life, but with big goals and dreams.
I am an athlete. I am a runner. (runzoerun.com)

Ava, I was hoping you'd respond. I saw you respond about the DDR in another post. I figured you might know. :)

Hmm . . . maybe we should just invest in a new one. The one we have won't stay in one place as we use it, and it will kind of wad up as we dance on it. We straighten it back out after each song. By the end of the song, you can't hit the right spots, because the darn thing has shifted or wadded. That's why I wondered.

I got my map at GameStop. Like $20.
It does not get wadded up. I don't fold it. I lay it across this foot stool like thing when it is not in use. So far, so good.

For those of you who have this and enjoy it, what sort of mat do you have? Just the basic mat? Does yours not get rather wadded up as you use it? What about the platforms--anybody have those and want to input on those?
