I'm really glad I bought one. Actually my hubby told me to so I'm glad he said to get it. Or I prob wouldn't have one. I'm thinking about going out and buying the extra leg band and resistance band incase someone wants to workout with me or 2 ppl.

I have not gotten it yet but I'd planned to and now that I've seen people really like it and describe it, it's definitely one I will get.

Make it a good day,

I got mine yesterday and did over an hour of it. First I did the first 30 day challenge then did the same set only took out all the lunges, bicep curls and strength training stuff to do just a sort of cardio work out. So that I basically did several scenarios of run/walk, box/target train, and did baseball hitting, etc. I liked it. Then I went in and discovered the customizable workouts. I did all the dance sets for one work out about 13 - 15 mins and then did all the boxing sets for about another 12 -15 minutes. It wasn't too bad. You can save your custom workouts.

So far I like it however, there are a few draw backs. I live on the 3rd floor (neighbors under me) so I have to find a way to be low impact. So that I don't shake my neighbors ceiling! LOL I have been able to do this with the jumping jacks from MFC and the jump roping from Gold's Gym. But I'm not sure if I'm gonna figure out a way to do the running kick backs(fast) in a way that I won't shake the house.

I love the added resistance of the band but some times the awkwardness of holding the straps and the wii and numchukes pointed at just the right ankle causes the "game to freeze". (Of course, it helps if you actually watch the videos which explain which way to hold the remotes. LOL)

I absolutely love the fact that they added kick boxing. But I have yet to find it in the customizable menu. I soooo want to do a workout with mostly kickboxing. Wish Gold's Gym had kicking and kneeing it in. That would be so awesome.

I did Day 2 of the 30 day challenge on hard. It was a killer with 2 sets of 24 lateral lunges with toe touches, 2 sets 24 forward lunges, and 2 sets of 24 reverse lunges. Then it had 2 sets of overhead shoulder press, bicep curls, knee crunches, and knee cross something or other. Plus it had tennis and 3 or three running combos with knee lifts or kick backs at various speeds.

Not too bad. I like getting trophies for different things. Like I got a trophy for doing 25 laps around the track.

Since I do more than one set or workout in a session I am a little frustrated with the calendar feature which doesn't give you a total for calories burned that day. I guess I will have to record all my "workouts" stats then add them together. Also just a little bit disappointed that they don't have any "core" exercises or section. Really that would make it much better. You know different kinds of sit ups, planks, etc.

But overall, I would recommend it even if it is kind the wii fit, wii sports, and gold's gym all wrapped into one. The whole circuit training thing is not really a bad deal. You kind of have a feeling like well each exercise is only about 2 mins. I can pretty much do anything for 2 mins. So that you can kind of encourage yourself.

Pam

I am loving my EA active. I am on day two. My legs are killing me. But it's a good feeling...knows I am doing it right. I have worked up a sweat each time.

I am really enjoying it. There are some of the things I cannot do because I have a bad knee. (runs in the family) But I press through them as best as I can...or I just remove them from my routine.

I am trying to talk my mom into getting it too for her Wii. I think she would really enjoy it.

I highly recommend getting it, if you haven't already.

I would definitely recommend. I got my game today and started the 30 day challenge. I took the easy (EASY) route for the workout, because I didn't know what to expect. I broke a small sweat doing the 16 workouts that were pre-selected. I then decided to do another, after I removed the running, squats, etc.. I really wanted to see the Cardio Dance portion. Again this was on easy, but I can see where you really get a workout. I'm adding this to my Wii Routine. This will fit in well with Wii Fit, Gold's Gym Cardio Boxing, and My Fitness Coach. Great variety!

Totally different from the Wii fit. I got it last night (spouse works at EA, so he brought it home for me. Sure, this time it works in my favor. In a few he's bringing home Sims3 and I won't be leaving my computer chair for days on end). It's not all kiddie and you can't seem to pick just one exercise to do, you do the whole workout. I've only turned it on twice so I could be wrong, but I didn't see any way to just pick 1 exercise.
Anyway, I started the 30 day Challenge this morning. Now, keeping in mind that we're on day 3 of rain and humidity, I was sweating' like a pig in no time at all. I don't think it was just the humidity. Also, I did today's Crossfit workout of the day first, so I really had nothing left, but what I did have left, EA wrung it out of me.
Hey, I think you need a break from ol' Wii Fit and challenge yourself with some new exercises, I know I did. Just for the difference, I say go buy it.

Yes you can do it multiple times. And on the list of preset workouts, the challenge workouts are also listed so if you wanted to do a particular workout from it you can.

I preordered my game over a month ago thinking I would get it when it came on but its taking a week to ship it so i won't get it until the 26th emoticon

But I was wondering, can you do the 30 day challenge more than once? Could you do it on easy & then again on a higher level?

I am really happy to see all the positive reviews so far, sounds like its gonna be just what I need to get me back in the swing of things.

My game was delivered later in the evening last night.. About 6:45 pm, and my parents were coming over. So, all I got to do was about 10 min of the easy workout, but my legs are really feeling it this morning! Last night they were very weak and shaky. I did the lunges and the squats and the rows, plus the warm up with the running. Wow!!!

I did the 30 day challenge on hard and did 32 mins. I burned 204 cal, which judging by the amount I was sweating, could be an understatement! My legs this morning are really feeling it. It felt like proper circuit training, whereas with wii fit, its very stop start to do your workout. I am so happy with this game, although I don't think I should call it a game! What did suprise me was the built in rest days. Anyway, anyone wondering whether to buy it or not? Go, go, go!

I tried it for the first time 2 hours ago. I love it! I did the 30 day challenge, low intensity. I did 16 exercises. It lasted about 21 minutes and I burned 146 calories. I highly recommend it. I can't wait to do it tomorrow! :)

Might I suggest making sure you are wearing a sports bra (and something supportive) before doing the challenges or any premades dealing with runs. It can get rather....bouncy...

I did make a lot of notes when I did my sessions today, Ive just been too tired/sore/lazy to type it all up yet. Will probably do that as a sparkpeople page blog dochickey rather than a specific post to cover all my basis.

Thanks everyone for your feedback.

I actually went out and bought it tonight. I did the 20minute preset medium workout and it is a workout. emoticon . It got my heart rate up and i was dripping sweat. My 20 minute workout burned 129 calories.

The routine in the first workout was a 2 minute run, (I was huffing and puffing), 20 squats, 16 alternating lunges, 16 kick back lunges, slow kick ups, run, slow kick backs, run. lateral raises, biceps curls, upright rows, and bent over rows. Everything listed above was done in like a circuit, twice. It was good.

If you look through all of the preset programs, there are many to chose from. You will not get bored for a while. There are also preset programs to focus on upper, lower, etc.. If you chose to do the 30 day challenge, you have a choice of easy, medium or hard. I'm going to start the 30 day challenge on tomorrow, and do the medium. The 30 day challenge looks like it's two days on, then you get a rest day, then two days etc..

Overall, it's very good. I'll give it a MUST BUY rating.

Since I have Wii Fit, MFC and Gold's Gym. I need to come up with a routine. I'll probably weigh in on wii fit in the morning and do Active before work. Maya and GGC on alternating evenings.

I got mine today after work. I was so excited when they called me Sunday that I was dieing to get out of work to get it.

I did 2 workouts today. I did the easy premade 20 min workout then played around with boxing, basketball, running, back kicks, running again. So I played for 35 min total and burned 182 cal. I don't know if it is correct or not but I do know that my butt was wooped when I was done. I am going to workout until next week then start the 30 day challenge. Going camping can't workout with the Wii. Don't want to miss out either.

Talk to you all later. Have fun with your new game.

Forgot to add that my band didn't slip off. I wrapped it pretty tight. But what I did have a problem with was the nunchuk cable. It would get hooked on my knees sometimes. Maybe I need those wireless ones...

First day of 30 day challenge! Yay!! I burned more calories than most of you are saying in about the same time but that just says I'm a fat girl. :) I liked the workouts. Did the day one challenge and then worked out with my daughter on one of the presets (but taking out lunges that she didn't to do and running that I didn't want to do). I only had one band but she was wearing cargo shorts and just dropped the nunchuk in her side pocket. Worked okay.

I'm really really annoyed that it doesn't just weigh you instead of asking for your weight. That's an oversight in my opinion. I understand no everyone has a balance board but come on. Allow a manual entry in those cases then. But I did think I got a really good workout. Once I learn the activities, I'm sure my 20-30 minutes will be a LOT closer to 20-30 minutes.

Looking forward to the pain tomorrow... :)

Hi all

I got my wii active today. I can tell you all the lunges and squats kicked my butt. I was sweating like i was running through a sprinkler. I love the game. The only down fall is you have to manually put your weight in at the start as it does not weigh you

I still have hopes for the calorie recorded by the game. They have been off for the two sessions I did so far today, closer for the second session, but with all the videos on how to do the moves, you wind up recording more time/calories with the hrm than the game is recording. I noticed that with my second session, where I had a lot less demonstration videos to do so the time was closer to what the game said, I was a lot closer in calories.

30 Day Challenge Easy #1
Game: 19:17 min 126.1 calories burned
HRM: 36:01 min 211 calories burned
GWF 202 calories burned (good amount of legs and arms both used in this workout)

Lower Body Exercise Practice
Game: 12:54 min 90.9 calories burned
HRM: 19:07 min 135 calories burned
GWF: 75 calories burned (lot of leg movment, barely any arms gives lower gwf results compared to hrm).

All in all, I really dont think the calorie estimate is bad when you factor in the difference in times. Minutes not listed for the gowearfit because I set the timer on it at roughly same time I set it for the hrm.

I so love this!

I just got done doing an hour work out and my body feels it.

When I was doing the walking and running part I chose to do this part on our small trampoline. Doing it on this helped my knees.

Because I have an injury to my left arm I was not sure if it could hold up to the resistance band and it did. I just kept the resistance low.

Using the Wii balance board for the skating was easy and found it harder to do this part with out it.

I like how it also shows you what you will be doing and chose if you and to do it or not. At the end of the work out you can chose to do it again or end for the day.

Can't wait to hear what the rest of you think of this.

I am look forward to this 30 day challenge and matching it.

Day one done!

One step at a time!

Kimberly

heh, Im such a dork at times, I had problems with the leg band slipping off and the nunchuck not registering correctly....then I realized *right* leg, not *left* leg. and I had the nunchuck in the pouch backwards too, regardless of the directions very clearly explaining it.

I got it earlier today. I did the 30 day challenge on hard. It was 30 mins and 158 calories. There was a lot of running and jumping, boxing and "weights"
The only thing I do not like about it (just from going through it on day one) is that I cannot pick work out days like I can with MFC. I am going to be out of town for the holiday weekend and it looks like Im just going to have to miss 3 days of the 30 day program.

The time has come, The Walrus said, to talk of other things: Of shoes and ships and sealing wax, of cabbages and kings. And why the sea is boiling hot and whether pigs have wings.

I just finished my first workout and I really liked it.I pre-ordered it at Gamestop. You can buy an extra leg strap and band if you want to play two people , it is $20. I am going to start the 30 day challenge tomorrow. The only thing I don't like is that the leg strap kept slipping and I didn't tie the band around the handle tight enough so it slipped off but that was my fault.

I did 2 workouts today, one the first day of the 30 day challege, on easy, and then the lower body exercise practice to get a better idea of the calorie estimate (I did a lot more than their estimate for the 30 day challenge, but with all the first time video demonstrations, my workout was also about 15 min longer than what the game recorded).

I bought it this morning, was at Target 30 mins b4 they opened in case there was a line. There was no line but once they opened about 10 ppl waiting to get it too.

I tried it out a lil bit ago and it is definitely a workout!! I like it!! I did it for 19:41 mins and burned 184.7 calories. I was sweating. I chose the 30 day challenge option and it picked 16 different activities for me to do. I selected the option to use the balance board when it can be used(the option does not have to be selected).

I definitely recommend it.

Once I get around to it, I will be wearing my hrm and my gowearfit, so will be able to use those for comparison to the game's numbers. If I remember right, the Gold's Gym Cardio game was pretty close to what my hrm recorded calorie wise.

I just got done using EA Active for the first time. I think that I would definitely call this one a workout, and not a game, like WiiFit can be. In 25 minutes it said that I burned 65 calories, but with the sweat dripping off my forehead I wouldn't be surprised if it was more! My only complaint is that the leg band kept slipping off, so that was a pain. Oh, and it has a way to track your weight, but it doesn't actually weigh you with the balance board, so I have to pull WiiFit out to do that. Over all I like it, a lot!

lol...poor Lynn.

Yeah I sorta understand that--we have gotten quite a few games that we're still working on actually getting around to playing.

I'm using it as a reward for when I get below 120. I have to many things sitting around that I don't use.

Hope by the end of June I I would stop goofing around. Wishing and buying new things to use once isn't toning this body.
I think I am on the W & S ride. I wish it and soon I'm saying OH S^%$ that didn't work either.
I will be checking back to see how others like it so I can really get excited about my reward.

lol--at least give them enough time to get home from work...

And, there's a "game review" section that you can always check out for reviews (assuming that people actually put them there).

but, yes, I'm also waiting for reviews....can't wait to hear what you all have to say!

Has anyone played with EA Active yet? If so, please give a review. I'm sitting on the fence right now....
