I have a health-o-meter scale (it's $20 at Wal-Mart...well, it was before the prices started changing so much, so might be a bit higher now?).

It does seem to fluxuate a bit, but it usually stabilizes out to one number. And it does show changes, unlike my (old, Taylor) one before did--that one I had to wait a couple weeks to see any change because it insisted to weigh me the same 2 weeks in a row!

Okay, I think I'd like to look into the weight watchers scale. Where can I get one?

Mommy_T - I was thinking the exact same thing. Some of my gain is real, while maybe a couple of lbs could be attributed to the change in the flooring. The only way I'm going to know if it's all real weight is if I get onto a regular scale. Maybe I can buy a WW scale if you guys recommend it?

how old is the WW scale? the batteries might be having issues in it...

Although my scale can have issues with finding one weight and sticking to it, it does usually "level out" somewhere.

Well DUH! I never thought about bringing the scale into the Living room where the WIi is.... emoticon

But I've fussed with my real scale - it's posssessed - & its the W.W. kind that "supposed" to be good - at least according to their ads...lol

But last year when I was weighing myself I could get on a few times in a row & it would be several pounds different - with me getting on back to back.

SO I lean towards trusting the WII even though its on carpet - its not plush at all - its cheap buildergrade stuff...

Meylose, is that few pounds difference including the amount the Wii takes off for the clothes (the -2, -4 or other choices)?

And some people find that they can be very similar--it based on the flooring types/differences people in encounter.

Also, MrsMHess, it might be that you gained a bit, and then the difference in surfaces, so it's probable that you didn't gain all of that, but possible that part of it is a gain (since you did say that your clothes are a bit snugger).

I bought myself a wii because it is fun and I am encouraged to exercise because I like a challenge and to challenge others even if it is a machine. I was courious about the weight of the wii scale and a real scale. I do have carpets where my wii is. But when I weighed myself on my weight watchers scale, on a hardwood floor and the wii on the carpet within 5 minutes of each other..the weight for both was exactly the same.down to the .3. So maybe it depends on how plush the carpet is.

I don't have a bathroom scale and have use the Wii Fit to weigh in since we got it. We use it on a the hardwood flooring to do the body test. Seems to be the closest to the Dr office only a few pound lighter a home.

I will do what I can with what I have for Jesus sake Today.

Ugh! That's what I was afraid of!! Well, I do know that since Christmas my pants are fitting a bit tighter. However, when weighing in on the carpet at 155 lbs I was nicely fitting into a size 10 in both jeans and slacks. I just can't see that I was getting into a size 10 at 160+lbs...mainly because the bulk of my weight is in my lower belly, hips & upper thighs.

Well, it doesn't really matter because I can see all the hard work I did last summer/fall is melting away and my toned areas are turning back to flab. I have 3 weeks to try and lose at least 5lbs if not more. I'm using both the Wii Fit and My Fitness Coach. The Coach said I burned 40 calories but my monitor said all together I burned 385....that's with 15 mins on the Wii Fit & 15 on the Fitness Coach. I burned much more on the latter. I hope I can at least trust my monitor!

I have to get back to working out every single day. Now that my foot is better, I'll be able to work out a lot more. Glad to be back!! and thanks for listening :)

hardwood floor--just like with a regular scale, would be more accurate. It's more solid, while carpet can be "plush" or soft--the carpet would be able to absorb some of the weight.

Also, the carpet, if it touches the bottom of the board, might have some effect on it, since you want just the feet touching because the sensors are located more in (or at least have more to do with) the feet than the board itself.

I'm glad I found this thread cause I have a question for you guys. I see that a lot of you have said that the Wii weighs differently depending on the flooring. I had carpeting up until about two weeks ago. We discovered beautiful hardwood underneath and ripped it all out. My Wii had me weighing between 154-158 lbs on the carpet. Now that I'm on the hardwood it has me between 162-164!...and that's with and without the extenders. I know I've gained a couple of lbs since Christmas but definitely not 8-10 lbs. Does anyone have any ideas of which would be more accurate...carpeting or hardwood flooring? I don't have a regular scale so I can't compare. I guess I'm just trying to justify the difference lol!!

Thanks!

Wii weighed me less yesterday. I am going to have to set them side by side tonight and see what the diff. is. I would think Wii would be heavier if on carpet.

I still use my scale at work since it it brand new and in a medical office.

I use both. The Wii does weigh around 5 pounds lighter, but it stays fairly consistent with the 5 pound difference.

as for the 10 lbs. difference, do you have the foot extenders on the Wii board? That might help.

Otherwise, I say pick one scale and go with it, don't go back and forth. That way you can see consistent results and changes.

My Wii scale has me 10 pounds heavier than my other scale. I have to come to use the Wii scale as my scale I use. I chose the Wii scale as it tracks the weight for me and even if it is 10 pounds heavier - it still shows movement in my weight on a day-to-day, week-to-week, month-to-month basis. I am not too worried about the difference in the scales as I am seeing the change in weight in other areas - such as how my clothing fits or is starting to fall off. Besides, my increased staminia is something that can't be measured by any weight scale and that has improved too...and like the commercial says, I am more than a number on a scale.

I use the Wii scale mostly, tho I do get on the regular scale. The wii is about a 1/2 lb lighter than my real scale but its a different flooring, etc.
