Did you look into bursitis? I only felt it at night, but it would wake me from sleep, feeling like a knife was stabbing my hip. I never connected it with anything I did during the day, but it might have been. My dr. said it had something to do with the fluid around the hip socket, and massaging it with my hand would work out the pain. After a short time period of doing that, it quit hurting and I haven't felt the pain since. There are probably some medical web sites that you could visit and enter your symptoms. Might help you decide if you need to check with your dr? Good luck!

no, it doesn't radiate. It does feel deeper than muscle but I guess I'm not 100% sure of that.

Sounds like you guys ahve had some serious pains!!! OUCH!!

Does the pain radiate down your leg? If so it is probably coming from your back. I had three spinal fusions. I still get pain in my hip. It is better but still there. I have to watch what I do and how, but I am able to do all of them on there. Not as far as others probably, but I do them in moderation. If it does go down your leg, I would visit your doctor. And I would see them before seeing a chiropractor. If it is from a nerve thing in your back, the last thing you want to do is get popped.

Sounds like you need to rest and let it get better? If you still want to workout could you try upper body only for a week? Maybe do the Wii sport games sat-down? Just to let it recover? If you can do that and it doesn't improve in a few days I'd say you need to get it looked at.
(remembering how bad my hip felt every-night, like toothache/abscess-pain only allowing sleep in 45 min naps - I hope it isn't that bad?)

ok, I dunno what it is but it's getting worse. yest all I did was 30 min of adv step and then about 45 min of the weekly challenge and overnight my hip hurt worse than ever. It must be muscle related I guess???? Cuz it doesn't hurt during the day. But it doesn't FEEL muscle related. kwim??

Sorry, just whining about it cuz Im so confused as to what it could be. We are going out of town tomorrow and Sunday so maybe 2 days break will help? I dunno

I'd suggest stopping the strength exercises completely for a week and see what difference that makes. Maybe easing off on anything that uses that hip simply to give it chance to heal first? If it's not easing by the end of the week I'd suggest seeing someone to find out what it is exactly?
Just be gentle with it.... you know what they say... muscles aches are good, but sharp pain or new and unusual pain is a warning to ease off.

but move lightly--so it doesn't get worse.

keeping stretched out might help some too.

you might have managed to get something out of place...maybe not with the Wii Fit but something just moved wrong in moving around, even sleeping can mess me up sometimes.

Just take it easy a bit and see if it lets up on its own. If not, might want to see a chiropractor.

Once it is feeling better, ease back into doing your exercises and make sure that you're not doing too much to it.

Ya know, I've been trying to figure out where it is and I can't. And on a moment to moment basis it doesn't hurt. But when I lay on it, I dunno if it feels kinda like a pinch nerve... it's on the outside of the hip where it meets the leg kinda. If that makes any sense.

I had been doing them every day. But it's a new pain, I was doing yoga and strength only for the firsst 2 weeks and never bothered me, but in the last week and a half it's been hurting. I'd say I'm doing them about every other day mostly. Yest I did only strength and it hurt the worst it ever has. I don't know if the yoga helps it a little or what. But today I did only Yoga and aerobics. I'm not really pushing things, I'm definitely in my comfort zone except keeping my balance lol

I have been to a chiro before, tho not in 2 years.

have you been to a chiropractor before? Do you know what it is to have your hip in place and out of place? Do you normally have trouble keeping it in place? I ask because most people that haven't been to a chiropractor probably don't notice one way or the other unless it's really bad. I have been to chiropractors and still go sometimes (not often because of money and not wanting to spend it).

I would suggest trying them more slowly and seeing what feels uncomfortable when you do it. Try reducing the motion and see if that helps. If not, probably should do that exercise.

Where in your hip is the pain? Can you describe the type of pain?
I have osteoarthritis in several joints, but my hips are worst. My right hip got so bad I had a hip replacement, but before the op it felt like bad toothache inside the hip and down into the groin area. Eventually the pain traveled down my leg too, but always the inner side of the leg.
Pain in the outer-side of the hip and eventually the leg too is usually caused by the back instead.
However, if it feels like bruised flesh around the hip, it's probably the muscles straining.
If you think it could be the muscle workouts agravating it, how often do you do them? They are strength training, and they always advise a full day off between days of strength training.
The yoga you should be able to do everyday, but definatly don't strain it. Stay within your comfort zone with it... that comfort zone will stretch with time (as someone already said, forgot who sorry)

I can't do the yoga because it hurts my back really bad. Going to chiropractor today. It felt so good to stretch like that too. A couple of the strength exercises I do hurt my back also, so I just stopped doing them.

Stop doing one and see if it helps. Narrow it down that way.

thanks. I started to do the fit this morning after this post and realized that I didn't do yoga yesterday and it killed me last night. I only did the strength. So It's not yoga it's strength. yest was the first day i didn't do both so I just chalked it up to yoga but it's the strength.

I'll try the massage

I had a pain in my hips for awhile. They would wake me up at night feeling like someone was stabbing a knife in me. My dr. told me I had bursitis (sp?). Some kind of fluid that built up or developed an air pocket or something Anyway, he suggested I massage the area when it was hurting. I did that for awhile and now I rarely have pain in my hip. Anyway, just a suggestion. Good luck with it!

It is the yoga, you might be pushing it to far, when you do the yoga, only go as far as your body will allow, if you have strain or pain then do not stretch so far. As you do Yoga on a daily or weekly basis you will be able to stretch further and further. Listen to your body it will tell you when are at your point. Bio Freeze works great for the pain if you can get any.

Does anyone have or had hip pain? I dont know if it's the yoga or strength cuz I do both together, but one of them is KILLING my hip! I can't lay on it at night and can wake me up if I lay on it wrong. Even now, sitting here it's tender. I am wondering if the yoga is trying to get my pelvis in line and thats causing some pain. I live in the boonies so can't run right out to a chiro but thinking I might go to one next time I'm in the city.

Anyone have any idea what I'm talking about?
